the observation is punctuated with a small laugh. that pokemon is kinda ugly, but he doesn't have to say it out loud and hurt the poor thing's feelings! in the corner of her eye, she catches sight of a barboach — all the way up here? — and reaches for her belt. her charcadet makes a reappearance, striking the fish with a black beam of energy.

annalise blinks. it's a ghost type?

she throws a ball at the barboach and lets her charcadet scuttle along after them. she's surprisingly deft for something with such tiny legs.

"um, yeah, sure! as long as you don't, like, sacrifice me in lava or anything."

they reach the peak. the uncomfortable heat has her tugging at the zipper of her activewear jacket and shrugging the whole thing off. she probably should have dressed more appropriately for a volcano, but it was too cold down at the mountain's base to not layer up.

"okaaay," she drawls out thoughtfully, tapping a finger against her chin. heatmor are fire-types, so a water-type would make the most sense. but on the other hand, her charcadet is already out. [break][break]she takes out her phone and opens the pokedex app, scanning the pokemon with her camera like a qr code. with a hum, she looks through its moveset for a moment before settling on one.[break][break]
"charcadet, use night shade!"

her new pokemon blinks up at her, then follows the point of her finger toward the heatmor meandering among the rocks. with a swing of its fist, a purple beam fires out and strikes its opponent. the heatmor starts to shuffle towards them, scraping its claws against the grit to hone them.

"umm! keep going!"

with several more punchy night shade attacks, the heatmor faints. her charcadet doubles over with its hands on its knees, winded. annalise looks toward MATIAS SILPH for approval.
