As Levy Alinsky sifts through the clockwork ruins Luka remains dazedly in place, head swaying ever so slightly in time with the music. Distracted and disoriented, she barely registers when paxton concordas grabs her by the wrist. There are things happening all around them; clicking gears and whirring mechanisms, mechanical leviathans creaking to life as steam erupts from their ancient joints. But all she can think about is the scent of pine and freshly cut lilies, of freshly dug earth and the slow creak of a coffin lid.[break][break]

For a moment, it's as though something else has a hold on her consciousness. Only when the chaos around them starts to amplify does she begin to snap out of it.[break][break]

Luka blinks slowly at Paxton when he releases her hand, as though emerging from a deep sleep. But just as she seems to grasp the situation the music overtakes her once again, and she's lost.[break][break]

"No!" she shouts, wrenching herself away from the group with a sudden and alarming ferocity. "We can't leave!" The clockwork tune plays her like a siren song, pulling drawstrings tight around her fractured heart until it's beating along to the same melody.[break][break]

"It's for me," she continues to insist, glancing around wildly for the source of the music. "Don't you get it? We have to find it!"[break][break]

Why else would the song be calling to her? There must be someone reaching out to her, and she's so desperate to have them back again. Before anyone can stop her she makes a break for it, sprinting towards the Volcanion with wild abandon— certain, based on nothing than misguided instinct, that they must be guarding the one thing she wants most in the world.[break][break]

Levy moved away from him and Wren watched him go like a droopy, forlorn puppy. Had he done something? Maybe it was the sudden attached at the hip attitude he'd seemingly developed out of nowhere. But then again, Wren didn't really understand or register it, either. So when Paxton looked at him with question, his brow furrowed. "Nothing's the matter...?" But that wasn't fully true, was it?[break][break]

He felt lulled by the melody still permeating the background, until the bell in the clocktower thrummed. For a moment at least, the heavy noise cut through the distracted emotions in his brain, dispelling the fog. "Huh? Yeah, guess I did. What was I.." He frowned, but there wasn't any time to begin parsing through it.[break][break]

One by one, the sleeping mechanical creatures began to light up, and as Paxton was suggesting they move, Luka was protesting that she couldn't. "What do you mean 'find it'..?"[break][break]

Releasing his psyduck, the tera orb he'd brought along slid from his pocket and into his hand. Activating it, he let the energy direct at Winston and soon the psyduck was enveloped in pale blue crystalized light. His glance strayed from Luka back to Paxton. "If you go ahead, I can back you up." At least to a decent extent. Obviously he couldn't take down all the strange pokemon on his own, but he could at least buy a little time.[break][break]

He sought out Levy then, hand reaching to make sure he got pulled back to the group in time.

"The hell is she doing?" He snapped as Luka ignored the obvious danger steadily awakening. "Ignore it, the music is a lie." It surely had been when he'd heard it earlier. But honestly, to hell with this. As long as he had Wren, the other two could do whatever they wanted. If she wanted to skip merrily into the clutches of the Volcanion, which were far from pleasant he recalled, that was on her.

"What?" He couldn't help the impatience in his tone as Wren offered to back them up. "No, Wren we need to go." Of course, leave it to the other man to put his life unnecessarily on the line. Letting Salandit loose, the lizard plopped down beside Winston and let loose a large belch of POISON GAS separating them from the volcanion, giving luka chêne no path to make it back towards the tower.

Luka shouts, no, demands that they not leave and Paxton's eyes widen with worry. "Luka, control yourself-" he started but the girl was practically in hysterics. Something is off. Someone who tried to guard their own emotions so closely wouldn't do this. Not right now, when stealth is of the utmost importance. [break][break]

Wren volunteers to help her and Paxton shook his head. The sound of more.Volcanion coming to life make him tense. "No-" he cuts himself off as he heard a blast fired somewhere. The guards warming up. Steam pulses out of them. [break][break]

POISON GAS adds to the chaos, cutting off an avenue of approach, but obscuring what's just beyond. The group is about to split. His Klingklang moved forward and herded Luka back with them. The sound of a gunshot cuts through as Paxton hits a moving Volcanion shocking it momentarily before it can move closer. "We're all leaving. Together." He said with emphasis, eyes on Levy Alinsky and then wren rourke. "Rushing off will get you both killed."

She finds her path blocked by two Pokemon, and the concerned reprimands of men in a far better headspace than she is. Luka bites back a shout of frustration as she tries to push through the blockade, but paxton concordas's Klingklang proves to be an immovable object, and she's stuck.[break][break]

"You don't get it!" she wails again, pushing her hand against the steel type's cold exterior. "It's calling to me! Can't you hear it?"[break][break]

But no matter what she says, it's clear that her other party members are unmoved. Luka bites her lip and tries to think of a way around the blockade and past the mechanical guards, but comes up empty. All she can focus on is the music swirling around in her head, and the voice that she can swear she hears lingering at the end of every haunting note.[break][break]

The sound of a gunshot rings out suddenly, and for a moment it's enough to cut through the cacophony echoing around inside her head. Just for a moment, she can think clearly. And in that moment, she makes her first rational decision of their excursion.[break][break]

"...fine. Let's get back to the entrance, quickly."[break][break]

It doesn't seem that she's thoroughly convinced, but she is aware that her group won't let her continue as she pleases. She recalls her Lopunny in favor of a Gardevoir— an Illumina variant, which appears to be dressed in a sparkling gown. Luka grasps her Pokemon's hand, and gestures for the rest of her party to hold onto each other as well.[break][break]

"I don't think we can get out of here with her, but at least we can get back to the entrance in a jiffy. Let's go!"[break][break]

Levy was tugging on his hand, and the group was splintering a bit into protests and conflict over what to do next. Luka was still insistent on following the song, and Wren found himself immediately grateful to have snapped out of its effects sooner.[break][break]

His hand squeezed Levy’s glancing up at him. “He’s right. Sticking together is better, even if-“ It’s complicated. Another wary glance is cast over to Luka, but the crack of gunfire seems to pull her from her trance, and the need to follow it. “Agreed.”[break][break]

Wren paused, though, frowning with a glance back over his shoulder. “Still, retreating uncovered is no good.” Despite the prior protests, he urged the crystallized Psyduck to help out—an azure TERA BLAST was leveled at the oncoming automatons. Just to set their pursuers back long enough to allow them to retreat as quickly as possible. Then, he scooped the sparkly lil guy up and booked it along with the rest.
