"My mom, she ... died last year," She said, bringing the glass of water to her lips, and taking a sip. Me, being who I was, noticed that he and the police chief talk a lot, presumably about what had happened to her. I asked him what they were talking about because I wanted to know, and my dad didn't want to tell me," She said, continuing to explain. "I was so ... angry that he wouldn't just come out and tell me. At the time though, I was only thinking of my own closure. I didn't consider his own feelings at the time. That's why I left home," She finished, sighing slightly before taking another sip of her water. [break][break] "She meant the world to the both of us. And, after I made my way here to the Hoenn Region, It was then that I realized, he was hurting too; not just me," She said to herself. A part of her worried about dumping all of this on Callan. After all, the two of them had only just met. Plus, she never really liked talking about it. However, for some reason, she let go of that worry for at least a moment. "Sorry for dumping all of that on you," She said, despite knowing he that asked her. What's funny though is that part of her felt comfortable talking about it for once. Deciding to shift the topic as a means to make amends for that, she brought up the conversation about music once more. "Anyway, how about we forget about the doom and gloom and talk about music, yeah?" She smiled brightly at Callan. "If I were to wager a guess, you like Rock and Metal too, right? But, what other kinds of genres do you like besides those two?" She asked genuinely, holding her smile. [break][break] Moments later, a server walked up to them, asking what they wanted. "I'm going to take this nice gentleman's advice and have the Sea Salt Vanilla Froyo, please." Elaina had said to the server politely. Just as Callan finished his order, one of Elaina's pokeballs that was sitting in her purse opened on its own, revealing Sonya, her Dewott. "I'm so sorry about that!" Elaina said, however, the server simply told her that it was fine, explaining that something like that happened a lot in here. They just didn't like big pokemon inside the store, and since Sonya was relatively small, Elaina decided to let her stay out of the pokeball. "This is Sonya! Say hi to Callan," Elaina had said to Sonya, who was looking at Callan as he sat there next to Elaina. From the looks of it, Sonya was still somewhat shy, slightly hiding next to Elaina's chair, yet still gave Callan a tiny little wave. "She's a bit shy toward strangers, but she gets used to people fairly quickly," Elaina had said, picking up the Dewott, letting Sonya sit on her lap.
