Boots crunched under gravel as Barnaby scanned the area around him.

One species of the myriad native Paldean Pokémon that had emerged from the rifts after the events at Mt. Pyre and Littleroot Town was rumored to be gathered around Route 120. Barnaby had seen pictures of it before, but never one in person. What he did know, though, was that he wouldn't mind having one of his own.

So, he'd traveled to the location where KINGAMBIT had been seen. Currently, he was looking around for signs of the metallic-looking Pokémon. There were plenty of scuttling PAWNIARD around and a few BISHARP with them, but the kingpin of their group was a little more elusive. That was, until, Barnaby caught a flash of glinting blue through a stand of BAMBOO.

His hand went to his belt, where he plucked Luxury Ball from the holder there. If these were anything like their prior evolutions, Fire-types would work well against them.

"What the hell? Seb exclaimed, stopping in his tracks as he took in the bizarre sight of a bunch of Pawniard, Bisharp, and Kingambit locked in some kind of fierce battle in the middle of Hoenn's Route 120. They seemed to be having a...tournament? Kingambit were native to Seb's home region of Paldea - what were they doing here in Hoenn? They were reporting about it on the news, remember? Paldean Pokémon started appearing here ever since the meteor was destroyed.[break][break]
Still, it was jarring to see the Kingambit kicking up dirt on a well-traveled Hoenn road. Seb had memories of his father's Kingambit, a grisly veteran of a battler, as serious and traditional as a Samurai from Johto, training day in and day out with the family bodyguards in order to ensure he would be able to protect the province's king at a moment's notice. He'd intimidated Seb a little when Seb was a kid, but Seb had to admit, the loyal Pokémon had been quite impressive.[break][break]
Jasper screeched eagerly, wishing to join the fray. "Are you going to play fair?" Seb asked with a chuckle. The Grafaiai on his shoulder pouted, but then reluctantly nodded his head. "Very well, go on then."[break][break]
Well, it couldn't hurt to try and catch one of the Kingambit. Now that he worked as a bodyguard, perhaps it would be in his best interest to acquire one...[break][break]

"How is it?" The knight asked the blue Gallade as yet another Bisharp crumpled to the floor.

Gawain rolled his shoulder experimentally while staring at his arm, before lengthening his elbow into a blade. His forearm seemed to thin into a razor sharp edge even before a blue glow surrounded the arm completely, transforming it into shimmering sacred sword.

After a moment, the Gallade simply nodded at his trainer.

"Good. The sooner you get used to it, the sooner we can move on to the next stage." Gwyar said as he swept his gaze over the battlefield they had intruded upon.

The clashing of enemy Kingambit's armies had offered an opportunity for Gawain to put to the test the new abilities the open rifts had granted his kind.

The never before seen ability, 'sharpness', and the move that he had never been able to successfully utilize on his own before, Sacred Sword... they had been incredible additions to his arsenal. With this on hand, several options had opened for the swordsmon.

"Now... go forth and take down their leaders." Gwyar said simply with a dramatic sweep of his arm, his coat flapping in the conveniently blowing wind. "Make them regret inconveniencing everyone."

These were... Strange. They looked like Bisharp, didn't they? But he'd never heard of Bisharp evolving...

Either way, Josh knew that if they didn't do something, someone was going to get hurt. These things were fighting each other far more brutally than Wild Pokemon fights should get. The best thing to do was get them to disperse, and maybe even catch a few in the process. Josh knew the best thing to do was send out Lightning, and have him move between the samurai, using Thunder Wave as it went. A quick and harmless way to disorient them so they could be moved, or caught.
