The bewitching performer KABUKIHIME, who was definitely not in disguise, jumped out of the bushes and struck a dynamic pose. "I (boku) am here to recite a song and catch some pocket monsters! LET US BEGIN!" The gaudily-dressed woman boisterously declared, her painted face twisted into a funny, over-the-top expression.

A Kangaskhan that was definitely not Missy began Singing a beautiful melody, while the stage actress performed a flamboyant samurai dance and recited the lyrics once sung by a famous DAIMYO.

Once the horde of noble Steel types had fallen asleep from the song, Kabukihime threw a Pokéball at random, hoping to catch their leader. She probably could have aimed better, but that would mean that she'd have to stop posing. A true actor never stopped posing!

Makoto had never seen Kingambit until this day - but to gaze upon the practical armies that had made themselves at home in 120 was an interesting sight. Clashing without a care in the world though, these samurai pokemon were starting to pose a problem to the route at large - for both pokemon and people alike. Perhaps this was a situation that they could capitalize on, then?

A little bit of confusion from Supersonic amongst the ranks was sure to sow some chaos - and from there, all it'd take was some Dazzling Gleams and Charge Beams from afar, to help pick off any more strongwilled stragglers. And as long as Nobusuma and Haguru both helped to keep everyone involved aloft, noone would be brought too closely to those fearsome blades that the evolutionary family sported.

Through the thickets, he caught sight of the admittedly intimidating steel samurai among the wilds. It seemed noble, brave, and most of all strong. While samurai weren't part of his own personal aesthetic, Fritz could see the appeal behind it all. But as some of them fought to what seemed like the death, he could only admire the sheer power behind their attacks. (Since the meteor, he'd noticed how stronger pokemon began to appear -- was it purely by coincidence or something deeper than that? Really he couldn't be bothered to care when it came down to it.) Nonetheless, like anything shiny, he just had to have it. With a pokeball in hand, he sent it flying.

Elaina stared at the Kingambit that was blocking her path. Its shogun-like armor, as well as its silent stare, made her assume that it was lying in wait for someone to challenge it. Wasting no time, Elaina tossed out a Pokeball in front of her, bringing out Ansel. With Ansel's typing, she knew that an actual fight would be difficult. Instead, she had allowed the shogun-armored pokemon to make the first move. The Kingambit rushed forward, making an attempt to attack, however, the moment Ansel violently twirled its head continuously, its Hypnosis would take effect, Its body becoming slower, more fatigued. It seemingly let out a loud yawn, and then, it fell on its back, asleep. "Well, I kinda wasn't expecting that work so easily. Just as James Clavell said in his book, 'A wise man prepares for treachery,' She finished, just moments before tossing the Pokeball at the sleeping shogun.

Kingambit. Isn’t that a chess show? Or is that Queens Gambit? Lam can’t recall. All he knows is that these Pokémon here look like they can deal some serious damage. The blades built into their bodies look like they could slice through several shoots of unripe bamboo, easy peasy.[break][break]

Naturally, Lam must have one in order to expand his Pokédex count.[break][break]

“Think you got any shot at paralyzing one?” he asks of his wattrel. Pomelo looks skeptical so he reasons, “Maybe if you just went for one of the lil dudes?” She seems to accept this more readily and swoops away. Lam follows, ready to help contain with pokeball in hand, but still keeps a health distance because he definitely isn’t about to let himself become chopped liver. Literally. huh, elio swore he saw this movie before. an old kantonese versus johtonese film where two daimyo(s) had their opposing armies face one another in deadly combat. in the end, both leaders perished for one reason or another. he vaguely one falling in combat, and one was assassinated via poison. it was a very tragic film about power, corruption, and honor. [break][break] nonetheless, elio was here to catch something. and maybe have one of his own bug daimyo as well. would... that make him an emperor then? heh. "Ivan, aim for the big one over there. light it up." with a furious flame the ghost/fire pokemon attempted to set the pokemon on fire. as the blaze diminished, the mafia heir threw a Pokeball - hoping to add them to his repertoire. ROUTE 120 was overrun. An army of PAWNIARD and BISHARP, led by a DAIMYO of KINGAMBIT, was quite an enticing challenge for DAMKINA the MEGA GARCHOMP. It simply wasn't one the prince of GALAR could deny either. This needed taking care of, after all, and this was another chance to prove themselves⁠— and HOENN⁠— the breadth of their skill.

So the scythed dragon presents herself before a troop they find amassed in the woods. Her intimidating presence draws their ire immediately, and several Bisharp and Pawniard dart forwards to attack. With incredible speed, however, she strikes them down (DUAL CHOP). Though not without taking a few blows (METAL CLAW) before they're finished.


With a roar, Damkina then dives into the ground below like water (DIG). She shoots straight for the Kingambit nearby, surprising it with an underground pounce before tearing at its armor with scythes and teeth. When it strikes her back with a KOWTOW CLEAVE, it huffs and attempts to retreat into the bush to regather its forces. It's only then that Remiel produces an empty Luxury Ball from his pack and casts it.

He had heard of the swarm of Kingambit when making a routine visit to Fortree’s P.O.G Bank branch, and of course, that had led him to venture into Route 120. Paldean pokémon had been showing up in Hoenn at increasing rates, and apparently, now there’s also whole swarms of them. A collector’s dream, isn’t it?

Ahead of him, a Gallade swiftly cuts through bamboo stalks, until they venture far enough that it stops suddenly. The Kingambit come into view, and of course, Mars gives a single command to his pokémon in the form of a whistled note.

her head tilts at the sight. there's pawniard and bisharp, both familiar to the scientist, but what are the other things?

upon moving closer, observing as they clash in battle, she still cannot figure it out.

are they regional variants? new pokemon all together? there's only one way to know for sure...

she throws a pokeball toward one as it takes a break from battle. hopefully the aim is good enough.

Pawniard and Bisharp are not unfamiliar to a self-professed Steel-type expert, but the creatures that lord over these packs of SAMURAI are a different story. It would seem that the dimensional disturbances have brought about yet another oddity.[break][break]

out on a casual run, consider his surprise when he sees a swarm of kingambits who look as though they are up to no good. they seem to be intimidating everything they run into, but not theo.

he kicks some sliced up bamboo out of the way as he approaches, clicking his tongue to send his blaziken forward. it does not take long for the fire-type to overpower one.

a pokeball follows.

The resounding clash of blades drew Gunner's attention as he hiked along Route 120. Peering between the trees, he finally saw the source: a horde of Pawniards, Bisharps, and — if he remembered his Paldean Pokémon correctly — Kingambits in the midst of battle.[break][break]

Or were they training? As Gunner watched them from his vantage point, he thought they looked remarkably like armies of SAMURAI warriors sparring and practicing for skirmishes.[break][break]

The opportunity to capture such a rare Pokémon was not lost on Gunner. Eyeing one Kingambit and its retinue at the outskirts of the battlefield, he released his Mienshao, Elaine.[break][break]

"Go ambush that one," he instructed her.[break][break]

With a nod, she rushed off with great stealth until she was upon the Kingambit. A quick FORCE PALM laid the Dark-type low, allowing Gunner to throw a Pokéball. But whether the capture would succeed was up to fate.[break][break]

Marza had seen this kind of pokemon before, it had been a fascination of her father's, during his travels. Frankly, she thought it sounded like bullshit and was feeling a little foolish not believing him when he'd told of the samurai-esque pokemon. Like a great shogun over his land. Either way, it didn't matter. She was interested.

Her father wasn't around and it felt like this might be just the victory over him that she craved, a little too desperately. She hoped this didn't end in failure, cause she'd never hear the end of it from the ghost that pervaded her entire existence. Well, here goes nothing, literally.
