His frown deepens, though it’s more out of confusion. What did that mean? Matias was the one who’d directed the attack aimed at him in the first place… where was Lam supposed to be? Hiding behind a tree?[break][break]

Ultimately it’s something he lets go of. His temper can flare hot and bright, sure, but the fuse he holds is a long one and anger holds no real place here. Instead, he grins, shifting toward playfulness.[break][break]

“Eh. Someone needed to knock some of that hot air out of you.”[break][break]

He shakes his head, shrugging. Poppy, who had settled in his hands, flies up into the air— fluttering around their heads with pleased chirps.[break][break]
