WHETHER IT WAS DISPLACED BENEATH LITTLEROOT DUE TO DIMENSIONAL ENTANGLEMENT, BROUGHT BACK TO FUNCTIONING ORDER DUE TO DIALGA, OR BOTH, can not be determined. However, this kingdom made entirely out of intricate mechanisms is void of human life. Clockwork gears, iron tunnels, and curious domes make up this kingdom that continues to function like an animatronic music box.[break][break]

Mechanical Pokemon like Magearna, Volcanion and others present in the kingdom seem to be robotic, set to a rhythm or programming like an animatronic figure.[break][break]

Several clock towers loom above the entire kingdom, though their machinery seems to be in disrepair.

This is the same Volcanion that destroyed a humanmade tower and encountered Alexei Ivanov in an underwater cavern. You must win its trust in some way, for it is wary of humans due to an unknown reason, but perhaps related to the events that have transpired in this kingdom a long time ago.[break][break]

It guards several SOUL-HEARTS that it is attempting to repair. It will manage to repair two Soul-Hearts by chance as it transfers some of its INFINITY ENERGY to them, shortening the Volcanion's life with each fix. The Volcanion is doing this in an attempt to find the MAGEARNA it had sworn to protect a long time ago, believing itself to be the last surviving "knight" of the royal guard.[break][break]

Bringing two SOULLESS MAGEARNA to the Volcanion will allow your trainers to open a hatch on the Magearna's chest to install the Soul-Heart in order to grant it "life."

their most recent expedition to the mechanical kingdom has been far more dangerous than all three times he had ventured into the ultra desert. it's the unfamiliarity with the mechanisms and how things work that makes it extra bad.[break][break]

but he has some of the region's finest trainers around him so he feels safe. his new KECLEON SYGNA SUIT helps as well.[break][break]

Back at it! Even after being run out of town by a bunch of angry Magearna, you couldn’t stop this rambunctious crew from returning, “Whoa! Nice suit, CIAN MAHER!” Eva complemented with a sincere smile. She wore her GARDEVOIR/GALLADE suit to match. It really did prove resilient in the rifts.

“I think that looks like a good place. Seem protected. We should make sure it’s not in the path of any routines,” Eva inspects the DOME from afar, “Let’s get a closer look!” she trots forward with her Gallade, encouraging the group to follow them towards the proposed site for basecamp. The duo sparkles with the energy of the suit that connected them, their JOLLINESS making it difficult to keep up with their increased speed.

The prospect of danger did little to dissuade Hideo from returning here a third time, the boy still eager to explore the Mechanical Kingdom. There was still no sign of Azelf anywhere, but there was still so much to discover here.

But first, it would be a good idea to set up a camp here, if they needed to stay for a while. Hideo nodded along with CIAN MAHER 's suggestion. "The clock tower and castle are a bust for places to set up," he said, recalling the swarms he'd encountered at both places, "but a place like that sounds like a good place to look. Might have a lot of space to use."

He was fortunate to have his "Ralts" tell him what Cian pointed at, as well as its size.

Though there was still the obvious concerns: swarms of mechanical Pokemon, and the music from that clock tower.

And sure enough, the clocktower music began once more - and just as it did, he could hear his "Ralts'' wind the music box they'd found last time, the toy floating in the air by psychic energy. The music playing from the box was similar to the clock tower's, and as far as Hideo was aware, it wasn't doing anything other than sound nice.

For the others, though, they may notice the complete lack of compulsion from the clock tower's music.

Hideo was quick to follow Eva Morales , ready to find if their spot was a good one.

Much like Eva Morales 's sygnasuit, Melody's own sparkles with Jolliness. [break][break]

On top of that she had her Exploud and primarina out alongside her as she places her hand over her forehead as if trying to get a clearer view of the area in front of them. She saw the dome the others were talking about but it was a bit farther than expected.[break][break]

"It might take us all day to get there though.." she comments as they'd all be wayyy too tired once they get to the dome if they walked all the way there. If they flew on their pokemon they might get ambushed by more of those...contraptions..[break][break]

Huh? What was that noise? It sounded like a- "Train!" melody says as she points over to a train station that was relatively nearby and docked at the station currently. "Look! The track leads all the way to that dome!" she calls out to her team "We should get on and go! We'll be able to take a load off our feet too."[break][break]

She begins to skip over as the train door opens for her, her pokemon being more cautious than her as she takes a look at the train's inside. It was normal for all things. She holds the door open and waves them over "C'mon! Who knows when this thing will go!"

The music Box hums to life and it draws Eva’s attention for a moment as it plays a familiar, yet different, tune. The intrigue is quickly swept away in favor of the whistle heard by the steam locomotive. A train? How . . . convenient.

Unlike Melody, Eva eyes the transport suspiciously. It was almost too good to be true, “I don’t know . . .” she huffs, standing back as CIAN MAHER and Melody Miro hopped on, “How do we know it’s not some sort of trap?” Her WORRY extends to Blade, the pokemon’s ACCURATE gaze lingering up and down the body of the steam engine.

They wouldn’t know till they tried though, would they? With a sigh, Eva accepts CIAN MAHER’s hand and pulls herself up then turns around to help Hideo Kino if he needed it.

Hideo would have considered himself under-dressed for this, dressed in his usual attire, the only one without a Sygna suit. "Gotta get me a Sygna Suit eventually," he muttered, half-joking. He was confident Uxie - and the rest of his Pokemon - could keep him safe, as they had before.

Hideo already had an idea for how to make their trip to the dome shorter - but Melody Miro pointed out something that could get them there even faster. "Been a while since I last went on a train," he commented, "but it should make it easy for us to get there. I'm all for it!"

The last one on board, Hideo accepted Eva Morales 's hand. Though it was only once on board that he took something else into consideration. "So, uh, you guys think this train just goes by itself? Or does it need someone to drive it? 'Cause I have no idea how to drive a train."

Not that he expected them to want him to drive it.

No sooner had he said that, did the undeniable rumble of an engine could be felt through their cabin, the train slowly beginning to move. "Well, trap or not, it's moving now."

The train's horn sounds out and it moves with a sudden jerk motion as it smooths out right after. [break][break]

"Seems like you're right." she says referring to Hideo's observation. "I'll go and check out the conductor's cabin anyways to see if it needs someone to man it...but I doubt it. Maybe you guys can go check out the other guest cabins and see if something interesting is there? She walks towards the conductor's cabin when suddenly a loud noise shakes the train and there's a big bang from the cabin, it sounds like something smash shed a portion of the train itself in the front. The door to the front of the train was stuck, the debris from that loud noise possibly? [break][break]

Exploud hyper voices the door down as melody finds a mechanized Volcanion there who looks at her with a light in it's eyes as Melody realizes it's alive. She rushes over to it as it begins to malfunction, seemingly about to tell her something before it shuts off and it goes limp.

even though Eva Morales shares her suspicions, they soon find themselves on the mechanical train, and before they know it, it slowly begins to move.[break][break]

"eva's right. let's be careful here."[break][break]

Melody Miro has a good idea but terrible execution. she heads off on her own, leaving them behind.[break][break]

"uhh, i'll follow after her and make sure she's okay."[break][break]

with a nod, cian heads off, and right after the loud bang sounds from further down the cabin, an odd SONG starts to play which causes the train to start moving faster.[break][break]

he soon catches up to Melody Miro.[break][break]

"melly! are you okay?"[break][break]

Without warning, the train jerked to life, slowly creeping forward down the track as it began to pick up speed. The sepia visage of the Mechanical Kingdom began to steadily roll by them as they journeyed further into the kingdom’s reach.

An unsettled but excited hollowness carved itself into Eva’s gut as she took in the sights and sounds of the mysterious world. This would be the furthest they ventured into the rift. How exciting!

Shew barely noticed Melody Miro disappear towards the front, too lost in her own thoughts to think to follow after her. Luckily, CIAN MAHER does.

It’s the sudden thump of steady up tick of the tempo that snaps her out of her own thoughts, “What the-“ she gasps as she nearly falls out of the railcar. Blade quickly snags the corner of her suit, pulling her back to safety. What was a pleasant ride along the Mechanical countryside was turning into a rollercoaster.

Faster and faster they sped along, their destination threatening to arrive too soon. Jumping may prove perilous at this rate but the locomotive doesn’t appear to be slowing down, “Uhhhh we might want to think about getting off this ride!” she calls up front towards Cian and Melody.

Hideo took a seat, leaving it to everyone else to take a look around the train. While he wasn't one to get carsick (or trainsick, in this case), he didn't want to risk losing his balance as the train accelerated.

Which it did, very gradually. Eva Morales seemed to nearly fall off, though Hideo didn't know until he heard her Pokemon grab her. The sudden noise at the head of the train and that feeling of impact was hard to miss too. "Maybe this train really wasn't a good idea," Hideo said, grabbing on to the seat so he didn't risk losing his balance.

It truly was feeling like a rollercoaster.

Hideo could hear his "Ralts" fiddle around with the Music Box, the sound from each fluctuating in speed. "Really think that's a good time for that?" Hideo asked, more or less at the mercy of the train.

Yet at the same time, he could feel the speed of the train decrease, and the others might notice other parts of the Mechanical Kingdom slow down as well. Hideo had yet to put together the Music Box's influence, more or less assuming things were just going out of control.

"Ugh…are we at least close to the dome?"

She tried to keep her balance as the train started to speed up out of control. [break][break]

Every idea of hers went wrong here it seemed but it's just how fate deemed it to be. [break][break]

"I'm fine!" she calls out to Cian as she quickly falls to her knees as she attempt to stay upright, she grabbed onto the nearby wall. "This volcanion was alive! It was trying to say something but then it...died. This big piece of metal gear fell down and crushed it" she tried to explain as she was utterly lost as to how she could even begin to explain the situation to the gym leader. [break][break]

Another thumping noise happen again but this time it seemed like it was coming from the back of the train instead. Melody felt the train begin to slow down thanks to Hideo Kino's "ralts" fiddling with the music box. She stood up and quickly rushed towards the back of the train as her pokemon followed suit "We need to go see what that noise was!" she told them as Melody had a bad feeling. [break][break]

Now that the train slowed down she brought down one of the ladders from the roof and peaked her head over the covers. Another swarm of magearna, seemingly chasing something that landed on top of the train. [break][break]

It was the magearna from before, the one that Hideo gave the doll too. Melody recalled it being friendly and waved it over to them. It seemed like they were all trapped in slow motion so melody ran over to it and pulled it along with her to get it into the cart. "Ok we need a plan, theres a swarm of magearna chasing this one for that doll again. They're all moving in slow motion for some reason, even this one."

after a moment of thought, he snaps his fingers.[break][break]

"fuck it. i've done this in a game before. surely that translates over to real life."[break][break]

he grabs the BLACK TUMBLESTONE and throws it up at the moving gears of the castle that hang overhead. it lodges in place, moving until it finds resistance.[break][break]

then, the gears shatter, breaking and crumbling down behind them which helpfully blocks the swarm of magearna from reaching them.[break][break]

"easy peasy."[break][break]

not a total fluke at all. nope.[break][break]

🗺️ THE BLACK TUMBLESTONE is durable and tough to break. Use it to interrupt mechanisms, disrupt a routine or track of soulless pokemon, or to weigh down something (e.g. placing it inside a Magearna).
