Summer was at one of the local seaside bars in Lilycove, enjoying the evening air as she sipped her drink. Gunner Graves was back at the house, resting after their long day of vacationing. There were a few travelers from different regions, speaking in foreign tongues, visiting on their spring break she presumed.[break][break]

Nevertheless, she told herself she'd enjoy a drink or two and head back to the house to spend more time with her companion.[break][break]

She needed to stop her mind from reeling about the potential rat she had in her company. Even though Gunner's words had calmed her edge a bit, Summer's hackles were still raised from the thought that someone was trying to investigate her. And she made sure that it was clear to her most trusted to put anyone suspicious through a test, as though the company was engulfing them with work.[break][break]

Perhaps it would break them. Who knew. Summer was just keeping business moving.[break][break]

She was so engrossed in her mind she hardly noticed the seat move beside her until the person moving caught her attention. And even then, she almost did a double take when she recognized who it was. Almost.[break][break]

"Well, Miss Councilwoman. What do I have the pleasure of seeing you in Lilycove tonight?" Summer had never personally met PENELOPE LIVY. But she was no stranger to who she was.

Not many might remember it, but Lilycove City had once been her home. Cozy along the seaside, Penelope had spent many afternoons lounging in the sun, or basking in the tranquility of an early day's farmer's market. Back then, when the world felt so small, there was no better activity than to visit one of the local seaside bars.

Beyond just the revel of festivities that typically accompanied those types of bars, Penelope always enjoyed partaking in one of the few places that still felt uniquely lilycove.

Hair pinned in a low-hanging bun, pieces of lava slipping from its grasp, the councilwoman took her place along the bartop. And not without notice, because the sound of another's woman's voice almost immediately greeted her.

"Just looking to enjoy some time to myself," she smiled, waving the bartender open. In the same breath, she ordered her first drink and offered her thanks. "How about you, Ms Prescott. Didn't expect to see you here?"

"Taking a spring break trip to Lilycove as well, then?" she prompted, indicating to their surroundings.[break][break]

Summer chuckled, sipping her drink with a dainty air before she spoke. "On a much needed vacation. I have a home here in Lilycove, so I decided a trip to the beach would be nice."[break][break]

A pause. "Though it's hard for me to relax. Work is always on the back of my mind."[break][break]

Another sip. Summer turned her gaze to the woman who so contrasted her in appearance: all fiery and warm toned while she was cool and blue. Raising an eyebrow, she rested her chin on her hand as she propped herself by her elbow on the counter, tapping her chin.[break][break]

"I almost wonder, though, if you're approaching me for work or not..."

"If only I was that lucky," she let out a hearty laugh, smiling beyond the extent of her glass. With one last sip, its contents went sloshing back down onto the bartop. "I'm just on a short day trip. Tomorrow, back in the office with me."

Meeting her gaze, Penelope mirrored the woman's expression, resting her chin onto her propped-up hand.

This meeting had not been a mere coincidence. Nothing with councilwoman Livy ever was. But, like a well-kept secret, she kept that fact hidden behind a polite smile and gleam of interest behind her amber eyes.
