Chaos ignites, and the boom of the quintet fans out.[break][break]

Theo's Banette releases, and with a Psychic to throw the sitting man into the wall, his left leg is slammed into it as he cries in pain. The other man, the left-seated man still surprised, fumbles for his Pokeball before a Shadow Ball collides into his chest, and he is thrown from the couch. Alive, but injured. However, out releases his own Pokemon; a Salazzle that begins to spit back at the Banette with POISON GAS, hoping too to hit the other men by the gas spread.[break][break]

Zev's Hatterene, in the same motion, Brutal Swings the two men on the couch, throwing them down to release a Scolipede and a Gabite. Defense. One man bleeds from his head, shaky in his stance. The other stands strong, hand to his jacket pocket. A pistol at the ready for Zev and his Hatterene. With a POISON TAIL and a TAKE DOWN, they attempt their best to strike the monster down.[break][break]

Gavin's Lucario had perhaps one of the swiftest kills though. The Extreme Speed flip throws the couch up, and the Aura Sphere... hits true. The gorey image of a man with half a head would haunt most people in their dreams.[break][break]

The Haxorous however roars out from the other man's Pokeball, and readies himself. The men were at a disadvantage, yes, but the Haxorous comes in for a DRAGON CLAW, attempting to come not for Faolan, but for Gavin himself. It charges recklessly.[break][break]

One man down.[break][break]

But the man that Theo's Banette had Psychic'd into the wall had attempted to reach for the door. The exit. He was bargaining. Begging. Pleading to get in, with all his might. His left leg looked twisted, as he wanted to go. To flee this hell. The blood and viscera already too much. But to no avail.[break][break]

Isaac's endeavors paid off in spades. The locks were already in place. The elevator, a free fall drop down dozens of floors. The emergency exit, under lock and vine. Which meant the men could fight to their heart's content; these men were going nowhere.[break][break]

Like a man on a mission, through this battlefield, Ashley was walking slowly through it.[break][break]

His vision was red.[break][break]

All he can see is red.[break][break]

All it is is red.[break][break]

The man sitting down watching, sweating, was pale.[break][break]

A bullet will paint that soon enough.[break][break]

the sight of the POISON GAS is not nearly enough to deter them. not even close.[break][break]

banette's WILL-O-WISP surrounds it as it floats on forward to meet the POISON GAS, lighting it up in flames. the confined cloud of fire ignites, sparking away before fading quicker than it came.[break][break]

with the POISON GAS threat neutralized, banette turns to throw another SHADOW BALL at the salazzle.[break][break]

theo steps to the right of the room, circling around to near the pleading man. he pulls out a gun, aims, and fires.[break][break]

Swift strides took Zev out of the range of POISON GAS so that when it ignited, he was already a safe distance away. On the left side of the room now, his back to the wall, he could easily observe the entire scene.[break][break]

Zev echoed the gunshot from Theo with shots of his own, two of them aimed at the man who stood between Ashley and his father. At such range, there was a very low chance the professional assassin would miss.[break][break]

Meanwhile, Hatterene attacked with another BRUTAL SWING, catching the Scolipede, Gabite, and pleading man at the door with one single swipe of her tentacle. Her high-pitched laughter filled the air.

The aftermath of the AURA SPHERE is gruesome. Gavin doesn't look; he doesn't have to. He's seen it all before.[break][break]

Instead, the underboss breathes in his SHADOW MIASMA and uses the resulting spike in reflex and speed to dance back from the POISON GAS just as THEO BECKETT's Banette sets it alight. They still work together flawlessly.[break][break]

A swirl of shadow reveals his CRYOGONAL, whose ice melts to reform as ACID ARMOUR. It remains on standby, its BANEFUL BUNKER ready to intercept any attack aimed at its trainer.[break][break]

Faolan, meanwhile, lines up another AURA SPHERE to execute the target whose Haxorus had blocked the shot from Gavin's gun.[break][break]

Unlike the Hatterene, the LUCARIO is silent.

[attr="class","skullbody"]Kage jumped over Sanford's anchor as it crashed down in front of him, getting stuck into the ground of the Phantom Plane. He leaped on top of it, throwing a barrage of Water Shuriken that embedded in the wood of the Dhelmise's steering wheel. Unfortunately, his victory was short lived. The anchor chain went slack, then taut as Sanford pulled himself inwards, smashing Kage hard with a momentum-driven Power Whip.[break][break]

An Acid Armor liquified the Accelgor's body, the whip hurting like crazy but failing to actually push him back. Glaring, he pressed his forehead to Sanford's wheel. The two Pokemon, typically dead silent, snarled uncharacteristically as they glowered at each other.[break][break]

A hand on Kage's shoulder snapped through the tension. "Kage. It's fine," Isaac said, voice quiet and heavy. "It was a moment of weakness. San did what he had to." It was all too clear to Isaac that, if he hadn't, the consequences would be far worse than the guilt and trauma hanging over his head.[break][break]

The two parted, Kage brusquely shouldering past Sanford and returning to Isaac's side. "Come on. We don't have a lot of time left." Their little snit meant they had barely any time left in the Phantom Plane this jaunt. "We need to go to the windows."[break][break]

Sanford's endurance held out just in time for the trio to make it to the window ledge. Sanford hooked into a cracked corner of concrete, Power Whips holding Isaac and a very reluctant Kage to his side. From down here, Isaac couldn't see what was going on in the penthouse. He liked it better that way, but he knew it would never last.[break][break]

"Griffin," Isaac whispered, gently pressing the Yanmega's Pokeball against his side. The disadvantage of living this high above the common man was that nobody could see what was going on right outside his window. "String Shot. Just a bit. Enough to stop anyone from jumping through." Letting out a buzz of affirmation, Griffin flew in a criss-cross pattern along the window. Three quick passes; one head height, one stomach height, one ankle height. That was all it took.[break][break]

From there, Sanford dragged the quartet back into the Phantom Plane. Their work was nearly finished here.[break][break]

And Ash's had only just begun.

With the gas bursting, igniting quickly and sparking away, Theo's Banette is blasted with a quick Shadow Ball, and before the Salazzle can see it coming, she's thrown towards a pillar going the direction of where Ashley is walking. The Salazzle was still standing.[break][break]

The same cannot be said for the man that Theo, and Zev's Hatterene attack. While the Scolipede and Gabite only take minor wounds, the same cannot be said for the pleading man, who has a bullet and a brutal tentacle swing hit him. The first, Theo's bullet, embeds itself into the chest, as he cries out for the door to open. Guy was already bleeding out, begging about how he'll pay them any amount of money to open it. He was pale. The Hatterene's Brutal Swing makes for a sickening crunch, and another body hits the floor. That laughter...[break][break]

It had both the Gabite and Scolipede come in with a DRAGON RUSH and a POISON TAIL at the Hatterene, but definitely with less power. Their fear had them shaken.[break][break]

Zev, on the other hand, shoots the man with the Salazzle with ease. The blast hits him in the shoulder dead on, as he grips to his wound, as Ashley walks on, bitter anger ruling his mind. The man screams, yelling out, as he leans against a pedestal, trying to gain his footing. His Salazzle attempts to help, but he screams at her to "DON'T HELP ME, ATTACK! PROTECT US!" In turn, the Salazzle attempts to fire a FLAMETHROWER towards Zev's direction, panicked now. Sloppy. These aren't battle-ready Pokemon. They were more pets.[break][break]

Gavin's Cryogonal guards the Dragon Clawing Haxorus, who attempts a slice downwards to no avail, with Faolan making an Aura Sphere on the Trainer. And out of a showing of love for his trainer, the Haxorus turns to see it, and races to take the blast head on. A critical hit. The Haxorus is hardly up as it is. He won't let his Trainer die that easy. Not on... his...[break][break]

The Haxorus hits the ground. Unconscious. Leaving the man defenseless.[break][break]

It's a lucky thing too, that Isaac happened to be String Shotting the windows, because onf of the men, seeing all the bloodshed, began running for the windows, the one extra hurt by that first Brutal Swing, only to slam into the net of a string shot., stopping him, and sticking him in place. The other man that hadn't taken too nasty a strike quickly makes his way towards Mr. Byron.[break][break]

"WE NEED TO GET OUT." He orders, eyes looking rather fearful, as Ashley continues to round the corner.[break][break]

Mr. Byron, however, leans back, and looks at the man as if he was a moron. "Where?" is all he has to say, for the man to say nothing. With that, the hopelessness of the situation weighs down on them.[break][break]

The man by Mr. Byron gets on his knees, and places his hands together. "I'll give you money! As much as you want! Please, please don't do this. I have a wife, and two little girls!" he begs, and pleads to the men on the mission.[break][break]

Ashley keeps moving, his eyes never once leaving Mr. Byron. His father eyes him in turn. Fury is building upon Ashley's back. Anger. Every negative emotion swarming his soul.

- Theo's gun and Zev's Hatterene end the man at the door's career. Brutal.[break]
- The Gabite and the Scolipede go in for a Dragon Rush and a Poison Tail. They're panicked, and sloppy.[break]
- The Haxorus collides to the Cryogonal, before going to defend their trainer, only to get crit one shot by Faolan.[break]
- One of the men hit by the first Brutal Swing scrambles towards Adam Byron, and tells him they need to go... and Byron destroys that hope.[break]
- The other man hit by the Brutal Swing attempts to jump out the window, but Isaac's Yanmega stopped that. Handy.[break]
- The man by Byron is begging for his life. He has a wife, and two kids.[break]

As soon as the Salazzle's mouth opened for a FLAMETHROWER, Zev knew to get out of the way. Thankfully, the Pokémon was not trained for battle and moved too erratically in its panic.[break][break]

Zev quickly released his Cofagrigus, who used PROTECT on her master as soon as she saw what was unfolding. Then he raised his gun again, shooting at the Salazzle's owner.[break][break]

Meanwhile, Hatterene teleported a short distance to the windows, to the man trapped in the webbing. With a giggle, she struck him with PSYCHO CUT.

Three professional killers in a room full of panicking civilians and their pets. It goes as expected.[break][break]

Gavin deafens himself to the pleas of the man with a wife, with two kids, with a family who will mourn him. He thinks of the first bloody assignment THEO BECKETT had set to him and decides this man is fortunate his family won't be next.[break][break]

With Theo and Zev targeting the others, it's left to Gavin to silence him.[break][break]

He clicks his tongue.[break][break]

Another AURA SPHERE, followed by two shots from the underbosses gun.

The stench of death leaked through a crack in the window, sending a shiver down Isaac's spine.[break][break]

Even this far removed from the violence, he couldn't escape it. Zev's Hatterene wandered over to the man that had been webbed against the windows, taking sadistic glee in the freedom with which she could carve into his flesh.[break][break]

At times, Isaac could've sworn her gaze met his.[break][break]

With how close he was to the Hatterene, he wasn't even safe inside of his mind. He bit down on his tongue, in body and thought alike, desperately trying to stifle down the guilt, the fear, the disgust, and the anger he felt in the face of everything unfolding before him.[break][break]

Maybe that was for the best.[break][break]

This wasn't his story, after all.[break][break]

No. It was Ash's story.[break][break]

And each of Ash's heavy foosteps brought that story closer to its climax.

The cacophony of screams. This penthouse was the coffin, and most would be buried here in the blood.[break][break]

Theo's relaxation is rewarded after the shot is made, clean. Precise. Heart shot. Watching Ashley make the final movements closing in ignoring the screams of a man who begged for his life for his family, an Aura Sphere slams him in the stomach, with a bullet to the shoulder and another hitting a clean shot to the head. Silence fills the room, his body falling backwards.[break][break]

So. Much. Blood.[break][break]

Zev's own shot is incredibly accurate, exiting out the back side of the Salazzle owner's throat. Horrifying as it is, the Salazzle immediately begins to rush away. Zev almost doing her a service by removing her abuser from the picture... and that was well and good.[break][break]

The next sounds would haunt anyone forever. The Hatterene's giggles loud, as the screams of the man trapped in the webbing were that of a man on the brink of insanity. All for Isaac to hear. The horror The Psycho Cut and webbing together, it created something truly horrifying in the dead of night.[break][break]

Finally.[break][break]

No one stood in their way now. The Scolipede and Gabite, no Trainer in sight, just followed the Salazzle. The conflict was almost over.[break][break]

Except for one.[break][break]

Ashley's pistol was out, pointed towards the man that birthed him, and his anger, tempered, came out in grisly snarls as What a Wonderful World comes to an abrupt end. Fitting.[break][break]

"Do you know who I am?" The vengeance is cold upon his lips as his growl accentuates his glare, his fury building like a balloon.[break][break]

"No. Why should I?"[break][break]

The twitch of Ash's own left eye has him remove the safety, the barrel pointed at the head.[break][break]

"Katherine Shepard. She's was my mom, jackass."[break][break]

Recognition has him calmly raise a brow. With the most unapologetic look to his gaze, Mr. Byron sees Theo, Zev, and Cillian. All three enter his periphreal, as he ponders how best to approach the room of men that quite literally ended many of his company men. Realizing there is no way out though... he chooses the antagonizing route.[break][break]

"And?"[break][break]

Ashley's hand is shaking, teeth gritted, and bile dripped his mouth more than it ever had before.

NOTES

- Everyone rolled 60 or higher on attacks. Every attack hits. Zev and Theo got 90 plus on all attacks, Hatterene getting the 99, with Cillian getting a 91 on his second shot after the Aura Sphere.[break]
-- In other words. Bloodbath turn. No one is left standing. HORROR.[break]
- Remaining Pokemon, with no Trainers, flee.[break]
- Ash is in front of Byron, and attempts to get some level of vengeance. Hardly controlling his anger.[break]
- Byron antagonizes him. Ashley isn't pulling the trigger. He's wanting him to admit it.[break]
- His hands are shaking.[break]
- The anger in him is boiling over. But he isn't pulling the trigger yet.

A calm followed the carnage, bringing with it an eerie, tense silence. Zev whistled for his Hatterene to rejoin him; in a blink, she teleported to his side, looking pleased. Her master, however, remained indifferent to the scene as it unfolded before him.[break][break]

Cold blue eyes watched Ashley. The younger man's conversation with his father meant nothing to Zev. Only the gun pointed at Adam Byron mattered.[break][break]

Only Ashley's finger on the trigger.

THEO BECKETT encourages Ashley, while Zev is silent.[break][break]

Gavin says only, "Do whatever you need to."[break][break]

They were not here on official Rocket business. It was not an order, but a suggestion to a man he knew respected his insight.[break][break]

Byron didn't need to die...but neither did he need to live. Should Ashley wish to paint the walls red with his father's blood, Gavin would only watch. There is no judgement, only a calm acceptance of whatever will be.

[attr="class","skullbody"]Bodies. Bloodshed. Rocket's uppermost echelon facing their foes with a mixture of cold professionalism and sadistic glee. The glimpses Isaac could see through the covered-up window were never going to leave him.[break][break]

The man who made Ash's life hell sat before him. To Ash, he was a monolith that cast his entire life in shadow. He was the monster that had scarred his brain and heart alike since birth. He was everything wrong with the world, dredged up from hell and twisted into the shape of a single man.[break][break]

To him, Ash was less than nothing.[break][break]

"Don't do it," Isaac pleaded. He knew his protests would be blocked by an unyielding pain of glass. He knew, before they could even try to breach, they'd be snatched in the webbing as helplessly as a fly. Maybe that was for the best. If his words did reach Ash, they'd simply fall on deaf ears.[break][break]

He'd made up his mind before the day had even started.[break][break]

He'd feel the emptiness before the day would even end.[break][break]

Isaac wanted nothing more than to break through the glass, snatch Ash up, and teleport them far, far, away from all of this. He wanted nothing more than to buy them a one-way ticket to Alola and put this life behind them before it was too late. He wanted nothing more than to save the soul of the man that had saved his life.[break][break]

But this wasn't his story. He had no right to write its end.[break][break]

All he could do was be there for the next chapter.
