His train of thought seems to be bouncing between anomalies. It has her intrigued, but cautious, all at once. She keeps her focus solely on him for the moment.

“Of course,” she responds with a shrug of her shoulders. If anyone is intimately familiar with it, it is her. Many, including him, told her to give up on finding another solution to genocide. Her unrelenting hope won out in the end. She doesn't elaborate in order to glean whatever point he's trying to make.

Eva watches Fernando with both curiosity and trepidation. Her mind begins to formulate a point before one ever arrives. The way he looms over her holds a sense of familiarity both comforting and condescending at the same time. It triggers a cold, bitter pit to hollow out in her stomach that is ruefully meshed with lingering feelings for another.

His words drip with honey and exaggeration but are laced with a truth she doesn’t believe she deserves. Her gaze falls flat, and after holding a brief moment of consideration with his good eye diverts down. It shimmers with clear clear skepticism.

What she sees is another Silph spoon feeding her grandeur only to likely strip it away later. Eva Morales may have been a fool, but she wouldn’t be fooled into believing their lies a second or third or fourth time.

It doesn’t escape her that Fernando’s touch is a rare commodity, likely meant to sooth her into whatever role she was meant to play in his game. Her shoulders rise and fall with an exaggerated motion meant to knock his hand off, “You won’t need to bet,” because that bet wouldn’t be on her. Hoenn survived before her and it would survive after her. Rayquaza would continue on long after her short mortal lifespan. She’s inconsequential in the grand scheme of things.

“I have faith,” in some of them, but she lacks hope. She turns her back to him then, as if walling herself off as a form of defense, “But not enough faith,” in her colleagues, in herself, in any anyone . . . “I can do better,” for Hoenn, and for herself.

If Fernando reaches for a leash, he will find none for it is held by a different Silph. She has never been one to bend and break beneath the force of another - aside from the one person who still holds that leash. And even their dynamic was a push and pull of strong wills before it was broken. Something as wild and free as the wind should not be tamed, perhaps that’s why a storm of conflict rages on as she grapples with independence. A storm can not be weathered with overpowering force, only with patience and an equal but opposite persistent pressure towards equilibrium and peace.

Her hands clasp together, rubbing nervously as if she’s about to make a grave mistake. Although she is uncertain of too many things, she knows she can’t sit here much longer. It would drive her mad. But if something happened to him because she chose to leave out of impatience . . . she’d never forgive herself.

“Are you sure?” but of course Fernando was sure. He wasn’t the kind of man to offer her freedom if he wasn’t sure it’s what she needed. After a short moment of contemplation, she seizes it without any immediate regret.

“Alright,” she’s quick to gather her med pack and few scattered belongings. Chatter over the comms requests medical aid somewhere in the ULTRA DEEP SEA. Before the darkness swallows her whole, she pauses for a brief moment before continuing, perhaps a sliver of regret for leaving him alone. To reassure herself, she briefly glances back, “Stay safe, Fernando,” she asks of him.
