Melody Miro did not need a bodyguard. As a member of the Elite Four, she was perfectly capable of defending herself from attacks from Team Rocket. Yet Gunner ran with her out of Granite Cave down the path leading toward Dewford Town.[break][break]

The pair had just received an update on major battles taking place within Ultra Deep Sea. They'd been sent to request reinforcements from the League stationed at Littleroot Port. An aid station had been set up at the start of the path to Granite Cave, complete with a communications station.[break][break]

But first, Gunner and Melody had to reach it.[break][break]

"Miss Miro! On your left!" he shouted, seeing two Rocket agents emerge from a rocky outcropping. Their Pokémon, a Grimmsnarl and a Noivern, swooped toward the two League officials to attack.[break][break]

Snatching a Pokéball from his belt, Gunner released his Alakazam. "Merlin! Hit them both with DAZZLING GLEAM!"[break][break]

A blast of brilliant light caused the opposing Pokémon to stagger backward, momentarily rebuffed but not deterred.

She hated this, all this fighting, all this bloodshed, and for what? Just to gain access to a place that might kill whoever enters? [break][break]

That didn't matter at the end of the day, she couldn't let rocket have their way as who knows what they might find in there. [break][break]

She rushes forward with her sword, dancing past the grunts who tried to grab her. However in the midst of her dodging an attack, she was left wide open against two grunt's Pokémon. However gunner was quick to come to her aid and buy her some time to get out of the way. So she took her chance. "Crescendo!" she calls out as suddenly a pokemon blitz's past the group in a blur of Blue.

A sword was drawn from Cobalion's head covered in a dark blue aura as it used DRAGON HAMMER to strike against the noivern and quickly followed it up with a smart strike onto the grimmsnarl. "Thanks cobalion! Thank you gunner!" she said smiling and patting him on the back. He had agreed to assist her with these battle as the pair of them worried about the pokemon that would get caught in the crossfire. [break][break]

"Alright Cobalion let's work together we need to get back safe and deliver this information." she says as she hops onto his back. "Cobalion and I can try to hold them back, you strike em down?" she says looking to gunner with a wink as Cobalion looked at the path forward at the myriad of enemies before his eyes flash yellow and the pokemon are all suddenly PARALYZED (Thunder wave)

A sword was the last thing Gunner expected a woman like Melody to wield against their enemies, but he had to admit, she certainly knew how to wield it.[break][break]

He nodded at her suggestion, briefly locking eyes with the Legendary Pokémon before Cobalion turned away to paralyze approaching enemies.[break][break]

"That works for me. Merlin?"[break][break]

As he called for his Alakazam, Gunner tapped the keystone embedded into the leather cord around his wrist. Merlin glowed with a blinding light, transforming with infinity energy. When the light dissipated, he had mega evolved.[break][break]

Before the opposing Pokémon could recover from the light, Merlin began blasting at them with PSYCHIC.

"Primarina follow up!" she says as Melody activates her sygnasuit, her and primarina's feelings of bravery increasing primarina's strength. "Hyper voice!" she calls out as Primarina's boosted strength added insult to injury as the psychic and sonic waves blasted against their opponents. [break][break]

However, the more and more they took down the grunts, more and more continued to replace them. "This is looking bad! Even though we're taking them out in swathes..they keep coming with more and more, the ones we took out are recovering too!" she tells gunner as she begins to try and formulate a way out... "I have an idea...I need you to cover me while I get to the top of that cliff!" she says as she points over to a rather tall area right in the heart of the grunts stopping them. She had to take them all out in one go if there was any chance her and gunner can go give the intel they secured to the league. [break][break]

"Cobalion will stay with you. Primarina and I will go. We're gonna use iago cobalion so get ready to protect him when you see iago."

Gunner nodded at Melody, wondering what she had planned that required her to reach the highest point in the immediate area. But he was in no position to question her.[break][break]

"Got it! Hurry!" he shouted, releasing a second Pokémon to assist his Alakazam and her Cobalion. His Typhlosion, Guinevere, burst from her Pokéball. "Guin! Let's get some sun out here!"[break][break]

The dual-type Pokémon roared, the flames of her mane growing hotter and brighter as she used SUNNY DAY. A brilliant light like a second sun bathed their surroundings in heat and light.[break][break]

Meanwhile, Merlin continued blasting oncoming Pokémon and their trainers, hitting groups at a time with DAZZLING GLEAM.

The SUNNY DAY and DAZZLING GLEAM does enough to pull the pressure away from Melody as the grunts began to focus more on him. [break][break]

Cobalion used smart strike on several of the grunts pokemons before leaping back to gunner, swatting at any who got too close to him or his poking with his sword. [break][break]

Melody danced through the crowd with graceful movements step by step until she got to a higher up position where she could see the crowd. It was time to put her plan in motion. Guess this would be good practice for her concert right? "Iago! Chatter!" she calls out as Melody's primarina moves over to gunner and uses misty terrain to protect him and his Pokémon. [break][break]

She started to sing, and a Chatot joins her, mimicking her voice perfectly. [break][break]

For an extra layer of protection, Cobalion throws a spikey shield around the group, encasing the group in a thin layer of liquid metal with spikes. The mass of grunts become confused one by one as their pokemon also fall victim to her song's effects of confusion.

Gunner watched as the cohesion of the entire Rocket force fell apart as they became swayed by Melody's song. Humans and Pokémon alike swung at each other, sometimes hitting thin air, sometimes injuring themselves or their allies.[break][break]

"I think we're good, Miss Miro!" Gunner called out over the chaotic din. All they had to do now was reach the aid station and report the updates.[break][break]

Turning to his Pokémon, Gunner relayed instructions to them. "Merlin, once the SPIKEY SHIELD goes down, TELEPORT us to Miss Miro's side. Once we get there, Guinevere, use SOLAR BEAM on the Rocket squad here," he said.[break][break]

The Mega Alakazam and Hisuian Typhlosion both made noises of confirmation.

Melody grinned, the enemy forces were in disarray from her and her Chatot's song. She gave a thumbs up to her chatot and Gunner as it should be easier to get past the guards when they were all confused and attacking one another. [break][break]

"Alright then let's go!" she says leaping and grabbing onto her chatot's feet as it struggled to stay flying, the pair were able to gently float down at least and land safely as Melody got onto Cobalion's back and leaned on him a bit as the exhaustion was starting to hit her a bit. "Let's get that info to them asap, but for good measure because I love overdoing it." she says reaching into her pouch and grabbing a SCATTERBANG

She threw several into the crowd as her anger for rocket randomly spiked, she wanted to make this experience as unpleasant as possible for them...so..her final little act of defiance. "Lead the way gunner. We'll follow you."

As Gunner instructed, as soon as his mega evolution faded, Merlin teleported the group to Melody's side. Safely out of the way, Gunner covered his ears as the scatterbang went off, sending the mass of confused Rocket agents and their Pokémon into a panic.[break][break]

Then Guinevere unleashed a SOLAR BEAM into the crowd, singeing fur and flesh alike.[break][break]

"Great job, everyone," Gunner said before leading the way down the path. His Alakazam and Typhlosion flanked him, keeping a vigilant eye open for any additional enemies. But they soon made it to the aid station where they could deliver their intel.[break][break]

Turning to Melody, Gunner lowered his mask to offer her a warm smile lined with relief. "Thank you for your help today, Miss Miro."
