kyle's too focused on what's ahead of him to realize what was happening behind.

as the winds subside, kyle watches matias' urshifu keep the lugia at bay with its moves. it kept the lugia busy enough for kyle to throw one of the most convoluted moves his pokemon has without fear of retaliation.

he throws a poison barb out towards the lugia, followed by a uniquely-pitched whistle that tells his pokemon to use their strongest move.

MANECTRIC: LORD OF VERMILLION
ELECTRIC-TYPE
manectric causes lightning bolts to hit a targeted location, blinding those nearby. this attack causes an electric terrain. if one is already present, non-electric pokemon take residual damage until the terrain disperses.

bolts of lightning pierces through the lugia, lacing themselves with potent poison once the poison barb was destroyed by the z-move. it would eventually fall, especially with the help of the elite four's urshifu.

only after everything has been done did kyle check for their losses. one thing stood out as the escort mission goes south. "shit, we lost the florist."
