The viciousness with which the Poliwrath wailed on the ice in the cave was reminiscent of a certain boxer from Unova. One that had bitten the ear off of one of his opponents. One who had a rather checkered past, including doing prison time.

In the interest of getting them out of the hair of the denizens of the cavern, and possibly to obtain one of his own, Thomas tossed a Pokeball at the group, hoping for the best.

Rumors of unusual Pokémon behavior had prompted the professor and a few of his colleagues to investigate. Gideon had made sure to bundle up, given that Shoal Cave was one of the few places the escaped Hoenn's typically tropical climate. Well, that and the Silent Icelands, now, too.

Scribe the ROTOM, inhabiting their usual tablet, hovered near the professor's shoulder. It was cocked sideways and recording the POLIWRATH as they boxed the pillars of ice. Around them their spawn (POLIWAG) waddled freely and even played in a nearby puddle of still-liquid water.
