Caleb cursed again as the Rocket's knee connected with his ribcage. He let go of the smaller figure on instinct, grunting in pain. His shirt had ripped across his chest - which was absurd, but he supposed he'd put a lot of wear and tear into it with all the fighting he'd been doing. First the handsome Rocket from the entrance into the Ultra Deep Sea, then his own brother, now this...[break][break]
"A knife?" He groaned. He flipped his own knife from its sheath - trying not think about who that knife had stabbed last - and readied himself for a very different kind of fight. Luckily, he had a lot of experience with knives.[break][break]
Nox attempted to dodge the THUNDER PUNCHES, but did not manage to avoid all of them. Electricity crackled as it connected with rough chitin. The Lokix clicked angrily, then LUNGED at the Electivire with all of the force he could muster.

"Way better now!" Mint called back to his partner as he felt Caleb's grip loosen. The dagger flashes in dim light and as Caleb reaches for his, Mint attacks. Deftly, he lunges forward aiming less at vitals and more at the of the loose hanging pieces of fabric. [break] [break]

Though he's not exactly careful if he pokes the ranger. Nevertheless, he tries to hook into fabric and rip up and backwards, while rolling on his back and using both legs to try to kick Caleb away. "The League doesn't put a lot of money into your uniforms, do they?" he asked, LED helmet still flashing a cheeky expression. As cheeky as an 8 bit face could be anyway. [break] [break]

As Mint plays around, his Electivire takes a LUNGE, getting pushed back a bit as the Lokix pushes him back. As it does, Echo fires back with a LOW KICK to try and knock down the bug type.

BLIZZARD winds ripple through their hair and clothes from their position behind the dragapult as the piloswine blasts at her with sheer cold and snow. It does the trick— frozen teeth detach from the meat of his body and she sails back toward them. They are about to issue another command when a thought occurs to them as Medb trills from the frigidity.[break][break]

Fern isn’t interested in fighting fair.[break][break]

Better suited to the cold, Beira tears out of her pokeball. The baxcalibur barrels forward, and launches through the hazy flurry of obscuring snow to smash into the piloswine. The GLAIVE RUSH a swirl of dark, draconic energy.[break][break]

Stealthily, Medb does not withdraw. Instead she slinks in Beira’s shadow—lashing out at Ollie once more time. Tail swiping hard with a (considerably weakened) SUCKER PUNCH. It’s only after this attempt that she returns to Fern’s side.[break][break]

As the baxcalibur thunders about, though, Fern keeps an eye out this time for Mint. And his Pokémon, not wishing to repeat the incident with Delta.

[attr="class","littleollie"] for a second, it almost looks like they might win. but then the tides shift and the battle takes a turn for the word. cold dread fills his veins as ollie realizes what is going to happen —

[break][break] and just like at mt. pyre, it happens again. ollie has to watch as rocket tears apart another one of his pokemon, right in front of him, and he's powerless to stop it.

[break][break] except instead of mt. pyre, where he could at least wonder if maybe the winds had swept up tabs, this time — this was intentional.

[break][break] he doesn't have time to react. because suddenly the pokemon is coming for him too. ollie ducks as medb comes for him, throat thick, as he spares an agonized look at fern delaney.

[break][break] "you guys - you guys are —"

[break][break] he thinks about what that guy (Cillian Quinn) protecting the cave had said. the one with lugia.

[break][break] "you guys are monsters."

[break][break] ollie leaps away, instead making a deadbolt spring towards the electric-blue grunt. fist clenching, a punch sails towards the top of mint frost's head and that cheeky-ass grin, while his other hand aims to pull a half-naked Caleb Harcourt away.

[break][break] "dude — we gotta go. now."

[break][break] a MYSTERIOUS ORE is thrown down between them, a spiral of red crystal unearthing to potentially separate the two.

What the hell was with all the shirt slashing? It was like this person wanted to get Caleb naked. It was a strange tactic, but Rocket didn't exactly play fair. Before he could properly retaliate, however, ollie morales's fist came flying out of nowhere, clocking mint frost with an unexpected force. Caleb's partner sounded panicked and terrified as he urged them both to leave.[break][break]
"Allright, yeah, let's get the fuck out of here," he agreed, sheathing his knife and sprinting away from the Rockets, Ollie just behind him. Something seemed off about his friend - like he was more shaken than usual - but there was no time to deal with it, Caleb would have to check in with him later. Something about these Rockets specifically had rattled him.[break][break]
Nox channeled power through his arms and into his fists. With a decisive bellow, the Lokix landed a devastating BRICK BREAK critical hit on the Electivire, smashing the electric Pokémon into the ground then hurrying after Caleb with a burst of speed. The little bug ninja did not look back to see if his adversary still lived; he'd already be gone by the time mint frost would learn the ugly truth.
