what seemed like a lifelong vigil persisted as derek found himself skirting around the interdream zone for an ideal point of entry. the last time he just walked in, and what greeted him? one of those paradox pokemon, which was powerful enough to go toe-to-toe with his mega-evolved charizard. well, maybe he was exaggerating a bit. that didn't mean he was eager to run into another one so soon.

derek had a partner with him that time as well. league comms were spotty, both because of the nature of this place and the interdream zone, as well as the fact team rocket was working to scatter their messages.

fortune seemed to be on his side in the form of a silhouette not far ahead. well, that was until the girl walked into the dreamy mists all on her own. forced to follow suit, derek would see everything the way she would...

INTERDREAM MISSION

Investigate the leaking Interdream Zone on the battlefield, or incorporate its presence in a thread. The Interdream Zone can be molded to fit your character's imagination, dreams, desires, and memories, becoming a manifestation of your characters' consciences.

You may choose to encounter an aggressive Paradox Pokemon (great tusk, scream tail, brute bonnet, flutter mane, slither wing, sandy shocks, roaring moon, iron treads, iron bundle, iron hands, iron jugulis, iron moth, iron thorns, iron valiant).

Nothing official had been decided yet but Serena was actively being sent out on more and more missions. She assumed her first test had been a smashing success since it would seem they wished to deploy her on the warfront now. She had to be in disguise now but she didn't mind that too much. This was a prototype she was working on, once she was finished with all the bells and whistles this little disguise would have a name. Or rather, it'd be her new identity for a while.[break][break]

Amber eyes drifted over the area as her eyes spied that familiar pink mist. She hadn't encountered the Interdream Zone since the Soiree when she'd gotten trapped there. The last time she'd been under a lot of distress but this time, since their mission was to investigate the leaking Interdream Zone she felt no fear like the last time. [break][break]

Beside, Artemis was here beside her and she was better equipped to deal with things now than before. "Let's go." she said to her espeon before shooting a short glance towards her partner for the mission. She sighed softly before stepping into the pink mist of her own accord. She knew she always had to be partnered with someone but she honestly preferred working alone. It was faster that way. [break][break]

Since she was already aware of how the Interdream Zone projected memories and desires from her experience from last time, she wondered if it would adjust to her if she intentionally focused her mind on something in specific. If that was the case then she could tailor the dream zone to her will. If only a little bit. [break][break]

As she continued to wade through the mist soft giggles could be heard before something in the distance began to shimmer and take form. In a flash images of her, or rather her alias, Aisha, appeared before her. A smaller version of her was laughing in her imaginary father's arms. As they twirled around and played her white hair billowed in the wind as excited squeals escaped the child's lips. "Hmm, interesting." she muttered to herself.

navigating as best he could through the interdream, derek eventually finds himself guided by the sound of child's play. his introduction calls on core memories surrounding registeel. the notions of his many failings. he can make out vague silhouettes of familiar pokemon rupturing before a blinding flash of white overtakes the pink mist around him.

when derek steps out, he is reminded of a kinder life. the innocence that this lady's dream portrays allows him a glimpse of optimism, forcing away any of the manifestations aspiring to exact whatever toll. this display would've undoubtedly alarmed her of derek's approach.

the ranger stands idly, looking between her and the interdream's constructs. it reminds him of his dreams at the star soiree. of betters times. "sorry..." this seemed like a private moment. "didn't mean to interrupt."

unsure of what response his intrusion might warrant, derek's hands rest at his sides. who knows if he needs to make a quick grab for one of the pokeballs lining his waist. a member of team rocket would be able to recognize the ex-gym leader of petalburg...

though he wasn't exactly confident that's what she was.

Serena watched as the Dream's constructs played out before her. So far nothing from her actually life was influencing what she was seeing. In fact, all things considered, this would seem like a normal lighthearted memory of someone's childhood. But in reality this was all created in her mind. [break][break]

The fact that this was playing put exactly how she wanted it to had her curious. For what reason did this Dream-zone have to indulge her when it ultimately knew the truth. She was reminded again of her experiences in the pink mist the first time. Her jaw stiffened before she sensed someone was watching her. [break][break]

Quickly glancing to the side she saw her partner from earlier had followed her into the mist. Amber hues lingered softly on him as he remained away from her. Serena personally never took part in Gym Battles because she'd had her hands busy with Rocket shenanigans but she had seen this guy before. The former gym leader of petalburg. [break][break]

Either way it didn't concern her what his identity was. Serena knew a lot but she was on an assignment from the League and undercover. All she cared about was ensuring that the truth of her identity wasn't mistakenly revealed here in this mist. It would cause....problems. Especially considering she was supposed to be dead. [break][break]

"sorry..." he finally spoke up, "didn't mean to interrupt." Serena was snapped out of her thoughts before she offered her best gentle smile to the man. "No worries, can't really help it considering where we are." She replied with a thick Galarian accent. "I'm Aisha nice to meet you." she said as she extended a hand. "Just to be sure...you're not one of the zone's constructs right?" she asked skeptically before chuckling, "Then again I'm sure even the constructs would be able to lie in this place."[break][break]

Suddenly the images of her false childhood vanished and the pair was left alone. "Apologies for dashing off into the mist before having proper introductions." she continued after a moments pause. "I saw something familiar in the distance and followed it in. Kind of foolish of me now that I think about it." she laughed sheepishly.[break][break]

It was almost too easy to lie and play her role. Almost as if she was practiced in the art of deception or something.

"true." nothing about this place was private now that the league and rocket turned it into their latest warfront. "but no... while you're right about the interdream, i'm real." that being why the interdream reacted to the male's introduction into it's midst.

derek retrieves a pokeball, allowing his sobble to join their conversation. "same with jonesy here. this is aisha, say hi." the friendly little guy offers a gentle wave towards the stranger before it's trainer continues on.

"don't worry about it, though." she hadn't come in to set up some kind of ambush, as far as he could tell. "just wanted to see what you were up to. if i needed to..." the words are withheld. she'd get the idea.

"well, doesn't matter now. sounds like we've got company." his senses, and likely aisha's are able to pick up the sound of something making it's approach. something heavy, and loud like a machine. jonesy leaps towards it, disappearing into the mist...

"h-hey!"

sounds of a struggle are quickly underway, though his pokemon is sent flying back along the ground before he can react. the silhouette is hard to make out, but it steps out from the mist soon enough to seek them out.

derek tends to his pokemon, hoping that aisha might be able to buy him some time to check his sobble for any injuries. no way she came all the way out here without pokemon, right?

The Ex-Gym leader was cautious of her, though not without good reason. While Serena's performance thus far might have been perfect, this was war and anything could happen, especially with Rocket involved. If he already felt this way without knowing the truth she wondered how more intense things would be if he really knew who she was.[break][break]

She didn't get to dwell on that long before they sensed play time was over. The dream zone had been too nice after all. Just as the ex gym leader's pokémon dashed off sounds of clashing could be heard. Meanwhile the image the dream zone had conjured of Serena's fake childhood morphed into something hideous and sinister before dissipating as her partner's pokémon was launched back through the mist, clearly injured.[break][break]

"Serenity." She ordered, her voice visibly colder now as she nodded her head in their direction. Understanding well what her Trainer wished for her to do Serenity moved towards Derek and his injured pokémon to see if she could be of assistance in regards to healing. Meanwhile, Serena's amber hues narrowed as the very ground beneath their feet began to shake as their opponent made their pressence known.[break][break]

It reminded her of a Donphan(Great Tusk) but was different somehow. She'd been informed by League personal of the possibility of running into 'Paradox Pokémon'. If this thing was big and bad enough to knock out one of her partner's pokémon immediately, Serena figured she didn't have time to play. [break][break]

"Horus, let's get to work." she said as she twisted her ring as it began to glow. Horus let out a shriek in agreement as he began to shine and shimmer signifying an immediate mega evolution was imminent. In a flash of light her Pidgeot mega evolved and took off into the air with the speed of a bullet. Suddenly strong gusts of wind begin to billow, pool, and whip at the paradox pokémon as a HURRICANE is readied and aimed at it's target.

"thanks." derek offers to the girl and her pokemon, serenity. though the state of unconsciousness is not undone, the ranger can feel better knowing that jonesy won't wake up in pain. though he was simply grateful that it seemed safe to assume the sobble would wake up at all.

turning his attention to the battle at hand, he observes the mega-evolved pidgeot's handiwork. while they may have this handled, derek find no reason not to simply kick back and watch. fielding his hatterene, the creature quickly acts on the given command.

"help us bring it down, ava." the dazzling gleam appears effective, overhwelming the creature on top of the present effects of the hurricane. but it wasn't enough...

Once Serenity had seen to it that she'd accomplished all she could do she rushed back to Serena's side to assist in the fight. With a couple more hands on deck it would seem that their combined strength would see their attacks land true. And while it certainly 'effective' it didn't so much as put a dent into the Great Tusk.[break][break]

It would seem the patience of the Paradox Pokemon had quickly grown thin. Annoyed as anyone would be at flies that continually pestered and swarmed around, the Great Tusk became enraged. Suddenly the ground beneath their feet began to tremor and shake with much more intensity than when the beast originally showed up. [break][break]

It's eyes saw red as it's anger flared. With a mighty huff it reared it's head back and let out a mighty roar before charging forward with incredible speed towards the first person in it's sight. Unfortunately that happened to be Serena who didn't have time to get out of the way. "Shi--" Serena began before a sudden shimmering abyss appeared which she was pulled into. [break][break]

In seconds Serena fell through the TELEPORT only to see she'd been moved a couple of feet away to safety. It would seem Serenity only had time to grab Serena and pull her through but was caught in the collision herself. The impact launched Serena's Gardevoir into the air and flinging her high into the air until she landed with an audible crack. [break][break]

"S-Serenity?!" Serena rushed over to her to check that her pokémon was in fact still alive. Luckily she was but her condition was critical. "Shit, shit, shit." she muttered as she gingerly touched her fainted pokémon before quickly recalling her. Anger swelled within her as a piercing shriek from Horus could be heard. [break][break]

Still Mega Evolved, he sliced through the air like bullet and AIR SLASHED the Great Tusk who let out a sharp cry. Serena herself released her Doublades from their sheath's at her hip and charged at the beast enraged herself. Despite everything she'd been through, seeing those she cared about hurt reminded her of her own failures from her past.[break][break]

She refused to make those again. She was stronger now and it showed. With speed and agility she seemingly danced around the Great Tusk slashing at its form while her blades charged and began to glow blue. Once their shine was brilliantly blinding she leapt up to what she assumed to be a weak spot of it's and landed a sharp SACRED SWORD slash against it.

the paradox pokemon made for quite the contest, though the combined efforts of the two experienced trainers won out over primal instincts and power. derek collects his hatterene with a pokeball once he is sure aisha claims victory.

"whew. i'm glad we're the ones coming through the rifts to this side and not the other way around." these paradox species would wreak havoc on hoenn, similarly to the ultra beasts sometime ago. "you did good." it's awkward giving praise to a stranger, but he was genuinely glad not to be fighting these things alone.

speaking of fighting alone...

"i don't mean to be rude, but there's a chance i might be needed elsewhere." not every trainer out here fighting for the league was of champion caliber. it was possible some could use his help right now. or that they had already lost by fighting on their own... "stay safe, alright?"

a brisk pace would bring derek out of the interdream, where he would be able to field a pokemon that could fly him to the nearest battle taking place.

The beast fell with a mighty thud signifying that the immediate danger was over. Serena's heartbeat was still thumping loudly in her ears as she stood there trying to catch her breath. The Interdream Zone always had a way of making her feel fucking miserable. Except at the moment she had returned victorious. [break][break]

Once she was able to calm down she resumed her role and nodded at her partner. "I just did what I had to." was her response towards the compliment. "i don't mean to be rude, but there's a chance i might be needed elsewhere." Serena eyed the dream zone before nodding. "It's fine, I've see enough." [break][break]

He bid her to stay safe and she wished him the same. She had enough information to consider the mission complete. Besides, she was more worried about getting Serenity to a Pokémon Center as soon as possible so she could be looked at. Now that she was alone she could drop the accent and appearances. "Horus, let's leave." she said as she hopped on her bird and exited the dream zone.
