the blastoise, nearly double his original height, is a looming shadow in the storm. he hovers over greyson, absorbing the impact of the ROCK SLIDE onto his thick-shell, barely even grunting beneath the projectiles.

while the perpetrator of the attack was difficult to see, aiono didn't need his exact location, only a general reference. cannons train in that direction, covering a large swathe of it (even mint frost wouldn't be safe, if he wasn't careful). all at once, stone-shattering HYDRO PUMPS release.

the heal from luka chêne 's sylveon is a welcomed reprieve, but the exhaustion of today's events — all of them, not just this bout — was weighing heavily on the blastoise. his breath came ragged, eyes narrowing.

The tell tale sign of mega evolution is a good sign. He backs off, not wanting to be caught in the middle of this, adjusting the strap on his back and trying to make it a little obvious that perhaps that's where it was. Sensing the change in power levels and already knowing they were at a disadvantage, Golf the Gigalith rushes forward as best as it can under the cover of their SANDSTORM. [break][break]

"Aster, get down!" Mint shouted into his comms as he darted until he could find something far enough out of the way to keep himself from getting blasted by the Mega Blastoise. He conveniently trips, taking a moment to unclip the straps before scrambling to his feet to hide away. As the HYDRO PUMPS blast forward cutting through the kelp forest and heading straight for the rock type, the Gigalith hums loudly, glowing with power before EXPLODING as the HYDRO PUMP is set to make contact, adding to the destructive power that HYDRO PUMP was.

Oh dear. Loose lips, love. Calpurnia wished Minty hadn’t let that particular Purrloin—the news about the seal—out of the bag. Fortunately, the male of this duo seemed to be a dullard—not a surprising fact, really. Splitting your brain between two heads was quite difficult. When the other girl shouts back through the hurricane, Kelpie is quick to respond. A bit of politeness never hurt anyone, a fact these little League pests keep forgetting. “You’re welcome, love!” Her lips curl up at their edges. “If you survive, I will be sure to buy a ticket.”

As the pair heal one another, Calpurnia sighed. That girl would get annoying. Perhaps she’d let Baby Julep deal with the bruiser and take out the support.

As the bug moved to flit away from its successful Bug Buzz—more a strafer than an attacker—the sand buffeted its little wings. Then, Kelpie saw the Audino turn its gaze on her. Shit! “Tia! Look out!” For some reason, the little bug-type turned to face the attack instead of mindlessly throwing itself out of the way. Her compound eyes widened.

An attempt at a Draining Kiss followed as the powered-up Hyper Voice slammed into it. But this did little to soothe the sting. With a cry, the butterfly tumbled head over wings. Then, the walkie-talkie crackled. What is that boy planning? She dropped to the ground as told, but Titania didn’t have the opportunity. The combined attacks—Explosion and Hyper Voice—were enough to send her flying outside the swirling winds. Smoking wings splayed out as she crashed into the kelp some distance away. Judging by the lack of movement, the butterfly was down for the count.

If Minty could see Kelpie’s face, he might have been tempted to stand in a corner.

I suppose it’s time to bring out something hunkier. After all, that Audino had to pay for what it did to Tia. While a cowardly little maggot, it was one of the few Pokemon that Calpurnia could stand touching her. While that reject of a Charizard could take care of the Audino, it was likely useless against the Blastoise. So, she pulled out another loaner Pokemon from this evening.

A Hisuian Decidueye took to the field, blending in amongst the kelp. It took a moment to calm itself, muscles bulging as it Bulked Up. With a gloved hand, Calpurnia pointed toward the Audino and its little pest of a trainer. Two of these arced toward the Audino. The other, meanwhile, rocketed toward Luka's gut.

Taking them out was often as effective as dismantling the whole team.

"I think they might be protecting them, o-or something!" Luka shouts back at Greyson Connors. "Or at least, they might know something! We've gotta keep going!"[break][break]

With the way this battle is going, Luka thinks that they might just have the upper hand. Their opponents seem to be getting more desperate— or at least, the loose-lipped one is. His Gigalith's explosion is a devastating hail mary that threatens to blow them all away. Luka herself is thrown backwards, unsteady on her feet as the ground quakes and a shower of broken rock and kelp falls over the entire group.[break][break]

It's only thanks to Pudding's quickly timed protect that she managed to survive at all. However, the force of the blast is devastating to Madeleine; the Alolomola has been protecting Greyson's Blastoise, and gets caught right up in the attack. A few heart shaped scales fall to the ground when she collapses, and her prone form is quickly recalled into a love ball.[break][break]

"A-are you okay?!" she yells over to Greyson, though she should be more concerned about herself. Her opponent plays dirty, sending a barrage of attacks not only at her Audino, but at Luka herself. Pudding is barely able to endure the barrage, holding on only because she'd mega evolved. But their protect has already faded and Luka takes a hit right to the stomach, and goes down.[break][break]

"D-don't worry about me!" she yells to Pudding, who's already started to turn around and try to help. "Heal yourself! I'll be fine!" Pudding seems reluctant to abandon her trainer but obliges, and a healing life dew begins to fall upon Luka and her teammates.[break][break]

Her stomach blooms with pain, but she's able to throw out another Pokeball. This time her Lopunny takes the stage, just as peppy and pink as the rest of the team. However, seeing her trainer prone and in obvious pain infuriates the rabbit.[break][break]

She surges forwards, angrily seeking out whatever had done this to Luka. As soon as she spots bits of burnt umber and orange amongst the kelp she strikes, an icy triple axel whirling towards the lurking Decidueye. It's as beautiful as it is devastating; she moves like a dancer, snowflakes swirling around her in intricate, lacy patterns. But there's nothing dainty about it, for every blow is delivered with deliberate, deadly intent.[break][break]

"get ready to move!" it's all the warning luka chêne 's going to get, as a flash of light reveals a vespiquen.

"viv! scatter them!" vespiquen gathers the wind beneath her wings, pheremones spreading throughout the battlefield. her control over all creatures caught in the zone is absolute, at THE QUEEN'S BEEHEST, she issues an absolute decree.

The fighting is still going on but Mint stays put, eyes on Greyson Connors then luka chêne and then finally Calpurnia Kubrick as he waits for the scientist to join him. Move explode, and threat of mega evolution subsides. He makes for the backpack a few seconds after Greyson does, if only to keep up the illusion of it all. [break][break]

But then the Vespiqueen appeared and before he knows it he's feeling a desperate urge to run away. Mint doesn't fight it, turning tail and sprinting away. He looks over at Aster waving her over to regroup. And soon enough, much like the blow FERNANDO SILPH had taken in a similar bout, the backpack explodes. It's not like his Gigalith, rest in pieces literally Gamma, but its enough to leave its damages. [break][break]

and its a very obvious SYKE! from Rocket. "Thank the gods for fern delaney 's artisanship." he murmured hearing the thing go off. The time having been counting down after he'd dropped it. "Aster, continue moving to our meet up site. I'll cover our way there." he said as he waited for the purple haired scientist to appear before letting her take the lead as he watched the League from across their destroyed kelp battlefield and offered a cheeky wave.

When the arrow first hit, the pain was blunt and hard, like getting punched.[break][break]

But as the seconds tick by, that blunt pain turns piercing and sharp- hot somehow, like she'd been stuck with a fireplace poker. It's only when Luka looks down at her own stomach and the rose petals of blood that are blooming there that she really understands what's happened to her.[break][break]

Her instinct is to cry out, but all that escapes her lips is a pitiful whimper. She watches, gasping in pain, as Greyson crosses into enemy lines to grab Rocket's cargo and hurries back, thankfully unharmed. Whatever his Veqpiquen had done has their opponents turning tail and fleeing— and thank goodness, because all the fight has been knocked out of her.[break][break]

Greyson apparently hasn't noticed the arrow sticking out of her gut, because otherwise why would he ask her to run? But she knows it's imperative for them to get out of here— and quickly, considering what they may have just managed to steal. Luka grits her teeth and yanks the arrow out, which anyone else might know to be a terrible idea, but she's a bit clueless in this department.[break][break]

Thankfully it seems that it hadn't hit deep. Even though she'd deactivated her sygna by withdrawing Sylveon, the suit seems to have helped protect her somewhat. The arrow tip is only buried an inch or so inside her, but even that is enough to hurt like an EXPLETIVE when she pulls it out. Luka tosses it to the side, stuffs her jacket over the wound to staunch the bleeding, and tries to limp after Greyson as quickly as she can. It's far from a graceful exit but considering the circumstances, it's the best she can manage.[break][break]

It won't be until later that they realize they've been hoodwinked, and that this entire affair has been a colossal waste of time. And in a situation like this, where time is of the utmost essence, it's an immense loss indeed.[break][break]

The Decidueye seems proud of his aim. As the arrows hit their mark, he shakes his little leaf cloak. The thing returns to its original shape. But, before he gets a chance to gloat, an angry Lopunny is upon him with icy kicks. Whilst he manages to dodge the first of these, the other two do a number on his wings. With a glare, the eerily silent bird drops back.

As he lifts his head, the scar on his throat becomes apparent.
