[break][break] his arm pulsed with the injuries gained from his own battle, and as he pushed the cart of supplies along the interdream space, his sinistea floated along too, providing the sweet scent of AROMATHERAPY to heal his wounds.

[break][break] he could've transported the supplies using phantom force or some other means, but there was no promising what the effect would be to some of the more sensitive items in the cargo.

[break][break] however, suddenly, he stills. there is someone in the distance. a figure?

The Interdream Zone mist, identified earlier by kyle lopez, closed in on Gunner as he trekked through the Ultra Deep Sea. Though his wounds had healed a little, blood still stained his torn clothing, darkening as it dried. His Hisuian Typhlosion loped beside him on all fours, her nose to the air as she guided them back to the rift to Hoenn.[break][break]

Suddenly, a voice cut through the haze of mist. Gunner and his Pokémon froze, both wary. The agent had no way of knowing if the owner of the voice was real or merely a figment concocted by memory and dream.[break][break]

"I know I'm real. Are you?" he called out, his voice distorted by the modulator in his full-face mask. The thought that he appeared less real to the other person, thanks to his outfit and mask, would have amused him in a less dire situation.

Luckily for Gunner, his employer — the League government, and specifically the Hoenn Bureau of Intelligence and Counterterrorism — wrote those reports. He eyed the other man closely, his caution giving way to a palpable animosity as he recognized the details of the stranger's outfit.[break][break]

This man had been at Littleroot Town, Gunner knew. And he was a member of Team Rocket.[break][break]

"That's none of your concern," the special agent replied, the harsh tone of his voice enhanced by his mask. Behind it, his pale gaze fell upon the Rocket operative's cart. Inside were smaller containers, their contents hidden from sight.[break][break]

Supplies, he realized, though he didn't know what kind.[break][break]

"You have ten seconds to surrender your cargo and step away," Gunner warned. His Typhlosion stepped closer, growling in warning.

[attr="class","body"] because of his clothes, Gunner Graves could have easily been mistaken for another rocket operative. due to the nature of their dual lives, many rockets either retreated to the cover of dark or the work of people like fern delaney to help disguise themselves in more public operations. the addition of a voice modifier and outfit made him the perfect copy of a rocket grunt.

[break][break] and perhaps it might have worked, if not for two things.

[break][break] the aggressive tone of his voice.

[break][break] and if he was not facing one of rocket's upper brass.

[break][break] jayden looks over at the mysterious man as he steps through the smoke, immediately going on high-alert when he recognizes the threat in the other's tone. he stills, the wheels on his cargo steeling to a halt.

[break][break] "and if i don't?" he taunted. "will you kill me?"

[break][break] beside him, balor's eyes glow with the power of FUTURE SIGHT.

But when it came to the defense of his home and the eradication of forces actively undermining the safety of those under his care, Gunner did not let such fragile things as morals or the high ground matter.[break][break]

Gunner regarded the other man with a cocked head. Beneath his mask, his eyes grew cold, his expression dark. "If that's what it takes."[break][break]

Hands at his side, he snapped his fingers. The mist receded in an instant as his Hisuian Typhlosion reared up on her hind legs, casting SUNNY DAY upon the immediate area.

[break][break] the sunny day brightens up the area, turning misty pink clouds to the blossoms of blurry camellia pink. it set a sour tone in jayden's throat, reminded of the DROUGHT caused by the likes of MATIAS SILPH at littleroot.

[break][break] releasing from his belt, he replaces balor with czar. the ceruledge's flames burn viciously in the blinding light.

[break][break] a single word cuts through the quiet.

[break][break] "go."

[break][break] the ceruledge wields his BITTER BLADE, slashing towards the overgrown weasel.

Guinevere met the Ceruledge head-on, taking the BITTER BLADE with barely a grunt. She struck back, but not with another Fire-type move. Instead, she took advantage of the brilliant sunlight above them and fired off a point-blank SOLAR BEAM.[break][break]

Meanwhile, Gunner ran at the Rocket operative. In moments, he was at the other man's side, throwing a left jab to distract from the movement of his right hand.[break][break]

If the barb struck flesh, it would guarantee poisoning. But Gunner did not know how easily he could pull off the feat. A veteran of Littleroot Town's catastrophe probably knew how to defend himself. Gunner only hoped he could land the hit.

[attr="class","body"] the BITTER BLADE crashes against his opponent with intensity, only to be thrown off-kilter when the solar beam struck. a SOLAR BLADE is braced against the beam, protecting it's user from the brunt of the damage, however the solar beam still careens sideways, catching the ceruledge in the shoulder. blood spurts from it's side almost immediately.

[break][break] czar scowls, shadows growing around his form, before he disappears in a flash with PHANTOM FORCE. he re-appears behind the other, slashing downwards.

[break][break] meanwhile, Gunner Graves ran for him and jayden was ready.

[break][break] the other threw a bunch and jayden was quick to deflect it. violet eyes widen briefly at the sight of the poison barb in his hand, and it's only a quick backhand that hits against the other's wrist that allows him to avoid the damage. the poison barb is thrown midway, forced into palina's line of sight.

[break][break] the sinistea cannot avoid it, but she immediately retaliates with sucker punch. shadows form in the shape of a fist before it aims to slam into the other's backside.

Gunner did not have time to feel disappointed when the poison barb did not strike his intended target; the SUCKER PUNCH smashed into him, throwing him off balance. Pain bloomed all across his torso where he'd been hit, but he gritted his teeth behind his mask. There would be time to acknowledge the pain later.[break][break]

The agent stumbled back from the Rocket operative, grabbing for a Pokéball from his belt. His Zoroark appeared, launching himself at the Sinistea and retaliating with NIGHT DAZE.[break][break]

With the Rocket's second Pokémon occupied now, Gunner turned his attention back to his enemy. Moving quickly, he threw another punch, this time at the other man's solar plexus.[break][break]

Meanwhile, Guinevere the Typhlosion whirled around, seeking her opponent after he had disappeared. Using INFERNAL PARADE, she let loose a blast of fireballs in all directions, hoping one would hit her target.

[attr="class","body"] with the sunny day still prevalent, the fireballs only grow in intensity. no matter how skilled czar is a swordsman, it would've been impossible to dodge the barrage of ghostly flames. that being said, he did not try.

[break][break] no, with PHANTOM FORCE, he pulled into view and found himself face-full of flame. he dove into it, even as his torso protested with a scream of agony, wielding his BITTER BLADE so that it plunged directly into the typhlosion.

[break][break] jayden sees the punch from the other coming, and leaps to the side just in time to avoid a punch to his solar plexus. his leg sweeps upward in an arc, deftly aimed to knock the other back. while jayden enjoyed a good knife battle along anyone else, he was also skilled enough for martial arts. as it seemed, his opponent was too.

[break][break] the NIGHT DAZE crashes into the tea pot, just as a MEGA DRAIN unfurls from her porcelain edges. vibrant green stretches outwards in a spiraling web as it attempts to suck whatever it can from her opponent.

The BITTER BLADE sliced into Guinevere's flesh, ripping an agonized roar from her throat. Blood sprayed from the wound. Snarling, she blasted the Ceruledge with SOLAR BEAM again, taking advantage of the sunlight overhead.[break][break]

Gunner's Zoroark, on the other hand, winced at the sting of the MEGA DRAIN but powered through, locking up the move with TORMENT.[break][break]

As for Gunner himself, he felt the other's boot smack into his torso — a solid kick. But instead of letting it push him back, he grabbed the man's leg and pivoted hard to throw him off balance.[break][break]

If it worked, Gunner would follow up with a kick to the groin. He was not above fighting dirty.

[attr="class","body"] the SOLAR BEAM fills the sky with green light, empowered by the effects of sunny day, and czar throws both of his arms up. the swords crash against the powered attack, the flames of his BITTER BLADE hissing as the two crash against each other. the pressure of the attack has him thrown backwards, exploding into smoke, before he runs forward through it — this time with PSYCHO CUT. crescent waves of purple and blue energy lash out, ripping through the air and spiraling to his opponent.

[break][break] energy glows around palina as she's imprisoned with TORMENT; although the mega drain did little to heal the cracks in her shell, it was clear that she was heading towards her end. a SUCKER PUNCH rises in desperation towards her foe.

[break][break] jayden grimaces as his leg is captured by the other, throwing him off balance. but when a kick is aimed at his groin, a serrated blade flips out of his hand, thrusting down into the flesh of Gunner Graves's knee.

The PSYCHO CUT hit its mark, smashing into the side of Guinevere's head, knocking her unconscious in an instant. She collapsed onto the ground, the heavy thud of her bulk distracting Gunner from his own fight. He stopped mid-kick, saving himself from the acute agony of a knee injury.[break][break]

Instead, the Rocket operative's knife slashed the side of Gunner's leg as he turned toward his fallen Typhlosion. Wincing, he stepped back and took out Guinevere's Pokéball to recall her.
