One of the many benefits of being a member of Team Rocket was unfettered access to the New Mauville Power Plant, and all of the Pokemon that congregated there.

Today, Dorian's mission was a simple one: gather Pokemon to be used as fuel for future projects. Of course, the Mad Dog was not alone in this endeavor, as he was once again joined by the Black Hand himself.

"So, you looking to fulfill a personal project, or are you just seeking out donations to the cause?", Dorian would inquire, clearly in a chipper mode.

In contrast with Dorian, Zev maintained a cool, almost aloof demeanor as he walked down the hall alongside the other man. His Gliscor flew ahead, scouting for any wild Pokémon they could capture.[break][break]

"Not a personal project," the hitman replied, his tone neutral. "oscar clayton mentioned needing steel from the carapaces of Steel-type Pokémon for manufacturing war machines."[break][break]

Such efforts were well within Zev's interest as a Rocket Beast, especially after the recent skirmishes at Dewford Town.[break][break]

"I assumed you wanted to come here for the same reason."

"Yes, and to be honest, I'm looking to get one of these war machines myself.", he'd tell Zev with a grin.

Dorian would spot a Minun playing around on some of the machinery. Normally, such a creature was beneath the notice of the Mad Dog. But because the Minun had its applications for the projects, Dorian decided that he was going to take it.

"Smoochie, do the honors~", Dorian told the Magmar.

The Magmar would fire off a Confuse Ray at the Minun, as it playfully teetered on the edge of the machinery. In its confused state, the Minun would fall off the machine, hurting himself. Dorian took advantage of the Minun's state, and tossed a Pokeball at the rodent.

Genesect were the new toy everyone in Team Rocket everyone wanted for themselves, it seemed.[break][break]

Briefly, Zev wondered if the process of creating such a complex and destructive machine had been perfected only recently, as it seemed only Oscar possessed one of his won for the longest time.[break][break]

"How far along are you in the process of making one?" Zev asked.[break][break]

A Copperajah stormed down the hall toward them. Gliscor intercepted it using EARTH POWER, allowing Zev to throw a Pokéball.

Dorian watched as the Copperajah came charging down, only to be summarily taken out. He couldn't help but grin at the Black Hand's handiwork.

"I'd say I've made good progress in gathering materials. The engine has everything, the frame is nearly complete, but I need components for the circuitry and programming.", he'd tell Zev.

A Magneton would float up to the group, firing off a Zap Cannon towards them. The wild nature of the attack caused it to veer off course, hitting a wall.

"I know exactly what this one needs!", Dorian chipped in cheerfully, snapping his fingers. The Magmar would blast the Magneton with a Flamethrower, overwhelming and the cluster of magnets. Dorian would toss a Pokeball at the Magneton, before it could be knocked out.

"Too bad it'll be for the benefit of a Genesect's programming!", laughed Dorian.

Based on Zev's own work putting his Genesect together, it did seem to him that Dorian had already made considerable progress. Good. More of Team Rocket's war machines on the field meant a greater advantage on the battlefield.[break][break]

"By the way, we have confirmation that Chu-e Choi is in League custody," Zev said, recalling the conversation he and Dorian had a few months ago, shortly after the meteoroid operation. "He's been microchipped, and they have him in government housing."[break][break]

A Blitzle trotted into view, watched Dorian's Magmar take out the Magnemite, and immediately fled.[break][break]

"The Eris girl made her way back, though," Zev continued, not noticing the wild Pokémon. "Gavin told me he last spoke to her in Sootopolis."

"Government housing? And not their most secure prison cell?", Dorian questioned in pure disbelief. The only logical conclusion, that he defected to the League, was one he refused to come to. He loved Chu-e like a brother. And surely, for his role in Team Rocket, and all of the things he did as one of Silas' Beasts alone, they wouldn't make him a deal like that, right?

"Yes, I met with Eris, actually.", he'd tell Zev. "After what happened to her, I attacked the Mauville Gym in retaliation. I killed two Gym Trainers, their security guy, and the Interim Gym Leader.", he'd continue. "Though I'm sure you heard about it. I was put on Grunt Duty for a while for it, as punishment for acting without a greenlight."

An Emolga perched up on top of some wires above. Rather than getting involved, the gliding rodent stuck to the shadows, waiting for the scary men, and their Pokemon, to pass.

Zev nodded in answer to Dorian's question. Government housing meant that Chu-e had indeed defected — or at least tricked the League into thinking he had. "It makes me wonder what the underbosses will do. Even though Choi wasn't involved in a lot of our recent projects, he knows a lot about some of the older ones. Like the war machines."[break][break]

As they approached a branch in the power plant's hallways, the scampering of a Helioptile from down one corridor reached Zev's ears. He watched the Pokémon disappear through an open door.[break][break]

The conversation turned to Eris Halla. Zev had indeed read the report that Dorian had attacked Mauville City's gym and been punished for acting without prior approval, but Zev hadn't heard what happened to Eris herself. Truth be told, he didn't care about the lives of children.[break][break]

"What happened to the girl?" he asked anyway. Knowledge was power.

In reality, Dorian was worried about the greenlight being declared on Chu-e. On one hand, if he had indeed defected, it was inevitable. He knew the rules all too well. But even if he tricked the League, how would he prove that to them? And could Dorian go through with killing Chu-e, if it came to that?

"I hope, for his sake, that he's just feeding the League bologna.", the Mad Dog commented.

"Eris was attacked by the Mauville Gym Leader. She managed to escape, and make her way back to Sootopolis. She wouldn't tell me what happened to her, so I had to find out for myself.", he'd explain to Zev.

A Beldum floated into view, attempting to ram into Dorian with a Take Down. The Magmar quickly intervened, spraying the floating limb with a Flamethrower, causing it to drop.

Dorian tossed a Pokeball at the fallen Beldum.

Zev made a noise in his throat that was a mix of unsurprised and unimpressed. The League, Team Rocket — they were just coats that different groups of Mightyena wore to present a semblance of order and goals.[break][break]

In reality, they were the same: cutthroat people in positions of power. At least Team Rocket embraced this reality whereas the League continued to drink deeply of their own delusions.[break][break]

"And of course the League has kept those events under wraps," Zev said. "What a bunch of hypocrites."
