She’s massive. The creature waiting for them on the other side of the wax door turns and regards them at once. It towers over Navy and Eris. A small flock of Beedrill surround their queen. It chitters, looking at them with abject curiosity. This is a proper queen. She has never seen humans before. Nothing has ever dared to trespass within her domain.[break][break]

Navy wonders if she can even comprehend the differences between their kind. He doubts the distinction between Pokemon and human even exists within this creature’s world view. No, it’s friend and foe. That’s how it sees the world. Those that are part of her kingdom and those who are not. There is no other way, nothing to be done, nothing needs to be said.[break][break]

Lodged into the middle of this grand queen’s head like a crown jewel is a shard. A shard of a shard. A fragment of pure, raw power. A fractured part of a greater whole. That red jewel is the source of all this. That is his deduction.[break][break]

All they gotta do is bring her down and grab that gem. No big deal, right? Navy looks to Eris and Reiner. Whatever comes next is easy compared to what came before. It’s an open, honest fight. No sneaking around, no being outnumbered. Just two humans, their Pokemon, and all the hurt they can unleash on the world.[break][break]

The Queen tries to issue an attack order[/]b. For her trouble, Shuwen’s crash cracks the bottom of her face, sending her flying even further up.[break][break]

There’s only one way this can really go. Shuwen and Navy look up at the dozens upon dozens of Beedrill surrounding this queen. She recovers and finally launches her attack order, signaling the horde to advance. Eris panicked at the sight of them earlier. Navy refuses to let her get hurt. Not here, not by these creatures that seem to cause her such singular unifying distress.[break][break]
At his wrist is a stone. The stone was found with him in the crater at the rift. One for Navy, one for . A pair of matching Urshifuite stones. No time like the present to go beyond.[break][break]
“Shuwen! Push it to the limit!” For the second time in Eris’s presence, the bear disappears. Blinding blue light shrouds him and he stands a far taller beast when he emerges. Water gathers arounds his limbs with every step and flick of his wrist. Surveying the buzzing bees, he launches himself up in the air at them. These are not just rapid strikes that he unleashes upon the horde.[break][break]
These are maximum power rapid strikes. They are impossibly swift. Impossibly deadly. Every blast of his hands crushes one of the Beedrill, sending them flying away to land unconscious or worse upon the far floor of the hive. He forces the fight, a sword to defend those who would not or can not defend themselves.[break][break]
“Big girl’s yours, leading lady.” Navy nods at the queen.

And one by one, the Beedrills are sent barreling through the skies and hive walls, wings crumpled from the sheer force of each strike as Shuwen issues a challenge that none of them can turn an eye from. And that just leaves an empty road to the throne, her eyes locking with the Vespiquen's as she clenches a shaking fist.[break][break]

As long as they do their best keeping the others away, there's no time to be scared.[break][break]

"Work with me, Mitts."[break][break]

Lightning descends in a roaring blue, a lithe Zeraora cocking their head at her as their claws scrape the ground. And with a brief glance over the situation, they break out into the widest of grins, rubbing their paws together so fast that static electricity crackles and burns.[break][break]

At the sharp whistle, Mitts launches off, given a burst of energy with Reiner's Electric Terrain as they shoot up towards the Vespiquen. And with a grand old wind-up, they yowl, letting it rip with blindingly brilliant Plasma Fists.

She spills a legend out of her pokeball like she’s pouring out water. The electric feline’s static electricity energizes Navy. Hairs on the back of his neck stand on end, his breath getting quicker. His eyes are torn between the two scenes before his eyes.[break][break]
One is an old story. Shuwen punching. Hitting. Destroying. Pulverizing. Seeing these mere, meager bees, creatures which call themselves apex predators, and bringing them down low. Shuwen picks one up by his horn, winds up into a mighty swing, and sends the creature barreling into another one of his kind. Navy has seen this bear fight every day for more than two weeks now. He trains every morning. When Navy fails to show up to training in the mornings, the bear throws him over his shoulders like he’s a heavy sack of potatoes.[break][break]
The other scene is brutal in a way only a legend can be. The electric shock of the punch makes the Vespiquen. Her screech serves as a defend order. Drawing back from Shuwen, they gather around their queen. They use their very flesh to guard the queen.[break][break]
But…they’re doing fine. They’re winning. All they have to do is keep pushing and the fight’s in the bad. They’ll be out of here. They’ll have their payment. They can go get something to eat. That sounds nice.[break][break]
Just as Navy relaxes his guard, he sees one of the Beedrills flying behind Eris. This one, craftier than the rest, is buzzing at her from behind. A clever trick to be employed by this assassin. There is no time. No time to think, no time to yell out, no time for anything but action.[break][break]
By the time Navy is done shouting “LOOK OUT”, the situation has already been resolved. There’s a sickening puncturing of flesh, the tearing of muscle, and the rending of bones. One of the lance-arms of the Beedrill has pierced Navy’s stomach.[break][break]
He coughs out blood.

[attr="class","inner-finally"]When you're busy trying to avert your gaze from your fears, it's easy to lose sight of what's happening around you. And it all happens faster than she's even allowed to react, her breath hitched in her throat as she turns around to the heart-rending chorus of blood and bones.[break][break]

Her left arm burns a bright pink, a strange mark clearly emblazoned across her skin as she reaches for Navy. In her wake, an overwhelming surge of psychic power surges forth, crashing against the Beedrills with absolute force and brutally throwing them towards the furthest ends of the chamber.[break][break]

Shuwen may continue to fight his battles, Mitts and Reiner are busy dealing with the angered queen. But her world has come to a remarkable and painfully screeching halt, her legs almost tripping over one another as she rushes over.[break][break]

"No... no, no no! Chloris!"[break][break]

Floral Healing hits the senses long before it does the pain, a Comfey trying its best to stem the bleeding and heal the wound. Aromatherapy must also be applied, for she has felt the effects of a Beedrill's poison before and knows what it can do. And Eris still tries her best to help, trying and desperately struggling to catch the man before he falls over.[break][break]

Everything is red - The gem on the Vespiquen's head, the glow in her eyes, Navy's blood now steadily staining her hands and clothes. Her heart drums so loud in her ears, her knees clearly about to buckle under her if she doesn't continuously brace herself.[break][break]

Not another one.[break]

"Stay with me!" She begs, brews far too many insults and schemes against the gods above. "Please!"

He feels peace when he’s pierced. It’s strange. This is just a hive of beedrills, but it feels like they are in the depths of hell. For just a fleeting fraction of a second, Eris shows her real power as the Beedrill are forced back. He’s forced to be in the moment as he sits against the sticky ground, which itself threatens to let him sink into its depths. Primal power hums out from the queen who surveys the two humans.[break][break]
Yet still, in this hell, while Eris heals him with her aromatherapy and floral healing, he feels like he’s going to be okay. A needled arm just through clean through him, but it missed his spine. There was the potential for real lasting harm there. Perhaps there still will be. A wound to the stomach is a painful, bloody thing, but there are far worse places to be hit. Navy bleeds like a stuck tepig. It hurts like someone is trying to tear his innards apart with a blender, but he knows, he knows…[break][break]
This isn’t where he dies. Not while there’s so much left to do. In some ways, he’s more childish than this child. His decisions led him here and they will lead him inevitably to the place where he will meet his end, but it won’t be today. He looks up at Eris and he finds her care endearing through all this pain.[break][break]
“Eris, thought I…told you...” He speaks through his own blood. His mouth tastes like iron. Kouji made sure he’s intimately familiar with the taste. A weak hand holds up a wobbling pinkie.[break][break]
“I’ve got…your back…and you’ve got…mine. I’m not…gonna die on ya…I’ll be fine…” He looks past her to the queen. She’s vulnerable. Her bees have been blasted back. This falls on her and all of her impressive power.[break][break]
“You’ve…gotta…finish this.”

Each whistle echoes her shrill screech, each commanding a deadly strike of electricity from the heavens and earth. The scent of char grows stronger with each one that rumbles and shakes this hive to its very core. Again, again, again. Faster, they have to take this monster down.[break][break]

Silence and bravado are Navy’s answers. Picking himself up, he watches what happens next. Everyone, everyone around him is an active participant in this. He’s sitting there, watching. Praying that they will find victory. Content, he lets the leading lady do her job. He watches the glorious crackle of electric energy spread from her hand out across the battlefield.[break][break]
His nose fills with the scent of burning bees and viscera. The bees don’t know what hit them. This is the easy part. Before a trainer like Eris, these bees are nothing. She is the master of her own fate, and she has the power to fight anything they might throw at her. Huffing, breathing in warm smokey air, he gives her a thumbs up. He watches the bees fall.[break][break]
When all is said and done, the queen falls. She is dead. This hive is no more. Perhaps, sometime in the future, a combee might evolve and take over a new hive as the queen, but that day is not today. The royal guards lose their will to fight. They fall. In time, they will be collected by the rangers.[break][break]
Somewhere along the way, Navy loses consciousness. He’ll be fine. Between Eris’s healing and his own tough disposition, Navy’s harder to kill than that. At least he got a cool scar out of this. He’ll bear it across his abdomen for the rest of his life.[break][break]
“Ya…did…good, kid…” He says, letting the darkness take him for a moment. Shuwen walks over, checks his pulse, and gives Eris a thumbs up. If she needs the help, he carries her back as well.[break][break]
The battle is done. The fight waged. They have won. There is much to be said between them, but it will not be said today.

And Reiner can only do his best to comfort her, to pull her onto his back and carry her from this battlefield of rust and smoke as she stares at the blood upon her hands.
