There's no stopping the momentum of another's counterattack when they're driven by nothing but raw guts and sheer belief. In the instant where Hattori dares to scuttle back towards Navy, Eris knows something must be cooking in his mind. And she'll take a deep breath, placing her fingers upon her lips as she lets out a shrill whistle.[break][break]

In the instant, the ground beneath them rumbles - The workings of a cavernous beast Digging its way into the earth as Mercury detaches from the Greninja. And into the heated fray the metallic sludge will go, unburdened by the heat as it rapidly seeps into the holes being dug out.[break][break]

On the surface, Reiner is up against two relentless foes, the trio locked into battle by a roaring cage of fire swirling around them. Where Lizzy may succeed in slamming into the Luxray, she would find a toothy smirk pulling at his lips, that he's barely budged at all. And it's not hard to see why when she's promptly electrocuted at first touch, the lightning armour that Reiner dons surges into one potent paralytic attack.[break][break]

Before Roland can land a follow-up attack, the Luxray disappears in a stream of red light, back to the pokeball that Eris so holds. As per the wise words of FERNANDO SILPH, recalling her pokemon at the first sign of trouble is very much a valid solution.[break][break]

"Strike two!" She grins, pulling out a glowing stone of her very own.[break][break]

"Break their ranks!"

Metallic spears erupt from the ground, funneled through the holes that Azzy has managed to dig out. When faced against the defense of another mega evolution, Hattori's attacks are absorbed by the ever-hungering pile of steel. And whilst the scorching temperatures of the Magma Storm might once have been a problem, the mix of dirt and water from Hattori's previous attacks serve as a temporary shield.[break][break]

Whistle, click. The jingle of keys sees the whole arena controlled by a Fairy Lock. Eris' hands slip back into her pockets as she begins to move away from Navy, Klefki following by her side as she runs. Another quiet giggle rings out as waves of joy sweep through the stadium.[break][break]

The twisted spires begin to glow, rapidly charging up before flooding the field with an endless wave of Flash Cannons from all directions.

Shuwen looks back to Navy. Hattori’s efforts have shielded them – for now. The bear’s eyes convey an unspoken message. There is a path to victory here. He has to fight as dirty as the Rockets. That’s the whole point of his gym, right? To show how overwhelming these monsters can be.[break][break]
All this battle shows him is that Eris should be one of his gym trainers. With all of the legendary and mythical beasts she can pull out of her back pocket, she can certainly show trainers what they’re getting themselves into….[break][break]
But still.[break][break]
There’s a path to victory here. It’s just over her body – or through serious injury to the girl. It’s the lesson the criminal known as Gavin taught him with his actions under the Ultra Deep Sea. Attacking the trainer’s a valid option. It’s just…[break][break]
…he doesn’t want to take that option. He doesn’t want to hurt Eris. The sad cut is that hurting Eris is the most pragmatic decision that he can make. The trainer simply cannot make that decision.[break][break]
Through the bond he has with his trainer, Hattori feels that hesitation. He feels the angst. He feels all the turmoil at knowing Rocket may employ such a child against him one day. So, the shinobi resolves to show no such hesitation.[break][break]
As Navy’s team is broken apart, sent to the four corners of the arena, Hattori sneaks back to the front. Amidst the dust and the shadows, he rushes forward. Appears in Eris’s shadow. A kunai made of shadows appears in his hand. They go for her throat. He does not move it from there, he does not even hold it particularly close as this is not a real battle, but the message is clear.[break][break]
Surrender.

[attr="class","inner-finally"]It's like weaving a knot and watching it tighten the more Navy tries to untangle it. Whatever he might attempt to pull on her, she has learnt from the best and knows just what can be done to counter. However, despite the oppressive tactics used against his team, Navy and Shuwen most certainly see past the guise. Even if they aren't able to break her team apart, it'll all crumble the moment they eliminate the core holding it together.[break][break]

The surging of shadows at her feet is met with a sharp yelp, her heels dug into the ground as she tries to pull back. But before Hattori can make his kunai get any closer, a strong Psychic force slamming right into him as the ensuing winds whip through the arena and rip the sea of risen dust apart.[break][break]

When everything settles, all that's left is Eris sat gracelessly on the ground, having been knocked over by the sheer force of the winds. And she raises a shaky hand, unable to utter a single word no matter how hard she tries to speak.

Hattori is knocked back. The wind howls. What Navy sees on the ground isn’t a combatant, but a scared child. When she speaks and words fail to leave her throat, he throws caution to the wind.[break][break]
Lightning descends around him. Magma flies in waves. Molten steel roars. And still, he runs. He will not allow her to be alone.[break][break]
Maybe it’s a trap. Maybe it’s strike three. He simply does not care about strike three. If victory means leaving her in this shape, alone and afraid on a battlefield, he doesn’t want to win. That’s a bad look to the League, but what the League doesn’t know won’t hurt them.[break][break]
Kneeling down by her, he takes stock. Examines her. Feels the hot winds on his back, the lightning and fire.[break][break]
“Eris…you okay?” He asks while Hattori stumbles up to his feet and slinks back off into the darkness of the arena.

Adrenaline rushes through her veins, keeps her mind spiralling through the very notion that she needs to get up. But her legs betray her, far too shaky for her to even be certain she can walk.[break][break]

When Navy approaches, he might just see how she flinches at his looming shadow, how her gaze immediately flits to him when he kneels down. It's panic, fear in those eyes for all but a moment, then a glimmer of light as she slowly reconnects with reality.[break][break]

Her lips part but once more, she can't quite find her voice. And she realises that, her hand dropping to rest upon her throat. A syncopated inhale punctuates her silent sentence, her breath held for 4 before she shivers and exhales over another 4. Eventually she looks back up, keeping Navy within her line of vision.[break][break]

"That... yeah, I-" Another shaky cough, a quick lick of dry lips. "Y- yeah."[break][break]

The raging storms within the arena are quick to subside once her pokemon notice what seems to be going on. And whilst Azzy might poke her head out of the ground, Mercury seems to just lie in wait, as if expecting a command. One that will never come given the state she's in.[break][break]

"Just... don't lower your guard like this around others. In a real fight." Weak as it may seem, a smile is all she can try to offer as she tries to still her racing heart. "You could get hurt."

Navy has no malice in his soul when he looks at Eris, no desire to hurt her. It’s pure, unconditional love for one he sees as a lost child. It’s love he wished someone would have given him when he was her age. Back then, he was a misunderstood kid. Parents that weren’t cut out to be parents, grandparents that were too distant…[break][break]
Like everyone else, his love language becomes that which he wishes he could have gotten, were their positions reversed.[break][break]
“Maybe, and that’s why I have Shuwen.” He nods, the bear having followed him like a shadow. “But I trust you. Come on, Eris. Let’s get out of here.” He offers her a hand, if she wants the help getting up.[break][break]
“Fight’s done. We’ll call it a draw. I wanna show you the rest of Dewford. It’s a cute little town.”
