Mt. Pyre wasn’t a place he had ever been to before. He had never lost any Pokémon so there wasn’t much point of him going. That’s not to say he hadn’t been curious about the place. It was a place dedicated to lost Pokémon and seeing how different people reacted to loss was intriguing. Even if he didn’t really understand such emotions.

After awhile he got tired of people watching and decided to head out the door that would take him to the path that led to summit. The summit held no interest for him. Only what was on the way to the summit interested him. Pokémon could leap out at him and he could them on. Hopefully adding more Pokémon to his party.

Considering he wanted a pretty diverse team that could help him with a job if he needed them to, he was hoping to catch Pokémon with types he didn’t have. His charizard was out just flying above him as he too kept an eye out for any Pokémon they could catch.

”Apollo, see anything?” he inquired his gaze fixed on the dual type. The dual type shook his head making him frown. ”Well we’ll just have to keep looking,” he said listening for any telltale signs of a Pokémon being nearby. He also kept an ear out for people as well.

SELENA HAS ALREADY GONE IN THE SUMMIT when she finds a person suspiciously scanning through the tall grasses of Mt. Pyre. Usually, people keep to themselves when in the cemetery for it is a place to practice respect and courtesy to those who are grieving. But people catching for Pokemons here is practically not unheard of.

"Any luck out there?" The Kalosian will be the first to approach the other as her Delphox tails behind her. "Any particular creature you're looking for?"

He would become aware of the presence of a person first. His expression would remain impassive as he regarded her. Rather or not she was league or rocket was unclear to him. Due to that he would keep his cards close to his chest. If she was league he didn’t want to let on that he was affiliated with Rocket. Or that he was an assassin for said group.

”None so far, but I’m sure it won’t be to long,” the brunette told her, making sure to add some levity into his tone to make him seem more approachable. He had seen other people do it and while he didn’t understand he had no trouble replicating it. The young man just hoped it worked since he had seen it work when he had seen it done. But while he could take emotions he could never be sure if the emotions he used were used in the right situation.

Her question gave him pause. If it was someone he knew was in rocket he would say Pokémon that could help him in his line of work. But saying something like that would just raise questions, so he couldn’t exactly say that. After all he was unsure who she had aligned herself to.

”I aim to have a diverse team,” he would settle with. Which wasn’t exactly a lie. He just wanted a diverse team that could help him with his assignments if he needed them to. He probably would’ve added more to the conversation if Apollo hadn’t alerted him to the presence of two Pokémon appearing.

Ryker would turn quickly towards the Pokémon sizing them up. A Dustox and a Mabosstiff. His main focus was on the dark type. He knew it had a pretty gentle temperament but felt he could use its protective nature to his advantage if he needed to.

”Apollo attack the Mabosstiff,” he would tell the dual type. Having his orders the charizard would hit the dark type with a flamethrower laced with enough power to make the Mabosstiff slide backwards. The canine Pokémon would then use jaw lock on Apollo but the dual type wouldn’t be fazed and would attack with dragon claw before using air slash before the Mabosstiff could even retaliate.

The whole time Ryker would just watch his sharp gaze taking in how Mabosstiff struggled to keep up with the ferocity of Apollo’s attacks. Seeing that the dark type wouldn’t be able to take much more he would call for Apollo to back off before tossing an empty pokeball towards the Mabosstiff causing it to be sucked up.[break] Selena Desmarais

SELENA IS AN EXCELLENT JUDGE OF CHARACTER, at least amongst most people. Her previous work as a journalist allows her to become fully aware of how body language tells a story, especially when paired with words the people carefully choose to inform her about the way they want to present themselves. The other's tone is careful, if not posturing, as social interactions are not always anyone's cup of tea.

With that, Selena tries to break the ice by introducing herself. "Selena Desmarais, nice to meet you."

When her attention is caught by the Dustox, Selena nods to her vixen as it begins her assault. The moth, however, goes first with a sprinkle of TOXIC dust into the Delphox's direction. In return, Circe assaults with a HEAT WAVE into the wild Pokemon. WIth a throw of the ball, Selena expects a catch.

"Diverse team is a good strategy. I try to incorporate others as well in my team, just to patch up any weak spots."

He watched as the pokeball shakes a few times before clicking signifying that he had caught the Mabosstiff. One glance towards the woman showed him she had been successful in her catch as well. Picking up the pokeball that contained his new partner he put it away. He would train it later.

”I’m going to keep going, feel free to join me if you want,” he told her before walking further out in the tall grass. This time he didn’t need Apollo to warn him since the Spinarak practically leapt out of the grass and latched itself to him. He looked down at the bug type holding up a hand when the Charizard started to move towards them.

It didn’t seem like it was being aggressive, so he didn’t need Apollo attacking it. Even if it was weird not to. ”Do you want to join my team?” he asked ignoring the way Apollo glared at the spider Pokémon. To show that he meant his offer he would hold an empty pokeball out towards the bug/poison type before putting it on the ground for the dual type to decide.

The Spinarak would get out of him before pushing the button allowing it to be sucked into the pokeball. ”I’ve never known a Pokémon who wanted to join without fighting,” he said his gaze fixed on the shaking pokeball. The fact a Pokémon would willingly want to join him was weird. ”It’s weird,” he said giving voice to what he thought of the situation.[break] Selena Desmarais

THE OTHER PERSON IS MUCH RESERVED THAN SHE WOULD EXPECT, so all she did is to keep to herself as she follows in his endeavor to catch a few Pokemons in the place.

A Morelull appears by her side as the Spinarak does to the other. And with a friendly attachment on her arms, the Kalosian sticks the Pokeball on its head.

"Most Pokemons are friendly, if you ask me." She responds even when she thinks he doesn't actually address it to her. "But those who feel theatened may be more inclined to make a move or two."

He fixed her with his amber gaze as she spoke. Emotions were something he struggled to comprehend. ”So it was just being friendly?” he mused though he still wasn’t sure he got it. Why would a Pokémon be friendly with him. The idea that a Pokémon would purposefully choose him was ludicrous. Except that was exactly what had happened.

”Threatened? So when they’re afraid they attack. I’ve never given much thought to why Pokémon do what they do,” he told her his gaze drifting away as he heard something else approaching. He guessed they’d been standing around talking for to long.

His gaze passed over the newly arrived Pokémon with disinterest and he ignored them in favor of going to pick up the pokeball containing his new companion. He would put it away before turning to see what the young woman would do. Keeping an eye on woman he signaled to Apollo to be ready to provide back up if she needed it.

But wouldn’t make a move until she had. He had no interest in either Pokémon. So he was perfectly fine just acting like they weren’t there. It all depended on what the young woman wanted.[break] Selena Desmarais

"DON'T YOU BECOME AGGRESSIVE WHEN YOU FEEL THREATENED?" Selena returns the question to her companion as she saunters slowly to where the Zweilous perches on an empty tombstone. Delphox follows suit, slowly easing her way in to not disturb the peace surrounding the dragon. When it becomes more comfortable, Selena hurls the pokeball into its direction: a demonstration of the point she is trying to make.

"Pokemons have personalities as well. When you know how to read them, and you catch those that matches yours as well, then you're in for a good team!"

He considered her words. Did he become aggressive when threatened? Of course the better question would be did he ever feel threatened to become aggressive? He didn’t think he did. But then again it wasn’t something he was sure about. Maybe he did and just didn’t realize it.

His attention would momentarily drift away from the conversation they were having as he watched her catch the Zweilous without fighting. He had heard those were pretty aggressive Pokémon. But she had been able to catch it without having her Pokémon deal with it. Even now he didn’t really understand.

Hearing her comment he fixed his amber gaze on her. ”Personalities? You mean emotions? I don’t under emotions,” he said impassively. It didn’t even occur to him that he should’ve said that to start with. It just wasn’t something he commonly thought about.

Seeing that she had successfully caught the Zweilous he suggested that they move on. Once she had claimed her newly acquired Pokémon he would resume walking. As he walked he would keep an eye on their surroundings. His unwavering gaze taking in everything around them.

It wouldn’t be long since their last encounter that they would run into more Pokémon. He would eye the two Pokémon before deciding he was real interested in adding either to his team. If his companion wanted either she was free to choose one without him getting in the way.[break] Selena Desmarais

SEEING HER CAPTURE ATTEMPT IS A SUCCESS, she goes back to her companion with a confused look on her face. It takes her a few seconds to ponder not everyone can easily understand emotions, true, for it is something not easily discussed among others, especially with strangers.

"No, personalities are far more encompassing than just emotions. Emotions reflect in a specific situation one is expected to react; personalities define what emotions one may tend to lean on being placed in these kinds of situations." The Kalosian tries to reiterate her point, but with more considerate analogy. "For example, you may feel indifferent if one of these Pokemons you just caught dies in a battle but you may feel more somber when it is your partner Pokemon that dies. Those are just emotions, but they say something about your personality, probably being reserved and distant."

The sight of a Glimmora flitting through the tall grasses of Mt. Pyre temporarily halts Selena's point, when her delphox attempts to subdue the creature for her trainer. This one, however, attempts to fight back with SELF DESTRUCT. Luckily, Selena is able to hurl a pokeball before it does so.
