"same," she says and then amends, "or, well, i was. back when training the dragons was my job." but it hasn't been that way for years. the loss is a dull pain now, but it sits heavy inside her just the same. she still smiles though, watches the people get smaller and smaller as they rise.

the ride stops, giving people their turn at the apex. wind teases through the open-air carriage, crossing loose strands of silver hair in front of her face. she draws a couple of pesky ones away from her lips.

"it'd be my pleasure to invite you then, but i should warn you," she says, grin curling mischievously, "the last time i took someone out on a joyride, he threw up as soon as his boots hit the ground again."

Gunner's grin matched Freya's in its mischievousness. "I'll consider that a challenge," he said.[break][break]

The Ferris wheel continued its slow cycle. Looking out the window, he watched the world rise up to meet them. Before long, they had reached the ground again. Gunner stepped out first and held out a hand to help Freya down, if she needed it.[break][break]

"You know, I wasn't expecting to have as much fun today as I did, but then you showed up," he told her after they'd stepped through the ride's exit gate. Instead of the earlier grin, he wore a pleasant smile.[break][break]

"If you ever need anything now that you're on the council, don't hesitate to reach out. I'd be happy to help, even if it's just to hang out at lunch during a hectic day's schedule."
