The Booty Bump Beatdown contest had been downright humiliating, but it had also, in a weird way, been really fun. Even though Gunner lost in the very first round against Navy, he stayed to watch the rest of the contest play out until the victor was crowned with the title of "greatest ass in Hoenn."[break][break]

In between the semifinals and the final round, Gunner checked his phone. An AmiGo notification caught his attention, especially when he saw who'd swiped right on his profile.[break][break]

It was none other than wolfgang volkov, a former member of Team Rocket he'd kept tabs on during the first couple years of his defection. Wolfgang's good behavior meant, after a while, that he no longer needed regular check-ins, and Gunner hadn't heard from him since.[break][break]

After a few back-and-forth DMs, he learned Wolfgang had been in the audience watching Gunner's loss to Navy. The two men agreed to meet, which is how Gunner found himself outside the Contest Hall's front doors, hands in his pockets, waiting for Wolfgang to emerge from the building.[break][break]

He couldn't tell what the bubble of excitement in his chest meant.[break][break]

Finally, he saw the brunette among the crowd and raised a hand to grab his attention. "Hey, Volkov!" he shouted. "Over here!"

everything was a surprise for him, from finding the guy on the stage he was currently watching, to coincidentally seeing his profile on the app, and especially when he remembered him.

it had been a while. he's not sure if he should be glad or not that gunner still knew him, but he feels warm regardless.

"i ain't deaf!" he shouts back. "no need to fuckin' shout!"

despite the aggressive words thrown, wolfgang doesn't seem aware of the tone that was implied by his yelling. he approaches him with the most straightforward strides, weaving through the crowds with no problem.

"long time no see, graves. surprised you're out there doin' that."

Despite Wolfgang's aggressive tone and words, Gunner could not help but grin as the man approached. It seemed Wolfgang hadn't changed, at least not since Gunner had last seen him.[break][break]

"Oh, you know. I was coerced, gunpoint, something like that," he said nonchalantly, shrugging. For someone who was known at his workplace for being too serious, the joke had come naturally. Easily.[break][break]

The reality was, of course, that his friends had convinced him to sign up for the contest. And what kind of man would he have been if he'd backed down?[break][break]

"Do you want to get a beer or something?"[break][break]

It was happy hour, and the Contest Hall's neighborhood was packed with tourist attractions — restaurants, bars, shopping.

"that's pretty on par with your profile." wolfgang smiles, accompanied by a light snicker. "yeah, i'm down."

he's not sure what the need for the segue was. they already know each other, albeit due to circumstances connected to both of their professions, but the minimum was all they needed for casual flings, as per his amigo profile.

then again, maybe he was just thinking too much about it, and gunner, himself, was just being courteous. he does do that.

"hey," he blurts out on their way to the nearest bar. "ain't it weird you're swipin' on someone you're previously lookin' after?"

it was the most decent wording he can muster for the question that popped up in his head.

Wolfgang's question is a legitimate concern. A government agent like Gunner should adhere to strict professionalism, keeping him from fraternizing with charges in his care.[break][break]

The fact of the matter was, he wasn't very good at being strictly professional when it came to more carnal wants. mila alexopoulos came to mind as the most frequent example of his offense.[break][break]

Gunner shrugged. "I don't think it matters anymore, right? Since you're not really under my supervision anymore. And even if you were, well…"[break][break]

He glanced sidelong at Wolfgang, admiring the other man's physique through his clothes, and cleared his throat.[break][break]

"Can you blame me?" Gunner grinned.[break][break]

The bar was crowded, full of people who'd been watching the Booty Bump contest. The only available seats were at the bar, forcing the two men to squeeze in together.[break][break]

Under the counter, Gunner's knee pressed against Wolfgang's. The heat of the contact was distracting. The blonde wondered why he'd bothered suggesting a bar at all.[break][break]

"How've you been, anyway?" he asked after ordering a beer. "I haven't read your name in any reports so I'm guessing you're staying out of mischief."

"sh-shut up! ain't ya supposed to be professional?"

though he questions it, he wouldn't make an effort to stop it. his composure did stop being cool, however.

he seizes up as soon as contact is made underneath the table. the nail in the coffin was hammered right in even before they start. this was way too forward for his comfort, but wolfgang can't back down.

the competitive spirit in him pushes back, nudging the other's leg with his. his eyes inhabit a glare, though it's a typical expression he'd wear.

"i'm back to the science field. aeos. heard of it?" it's an organization funded by silph co., but he won't be surprised if it wasn't known. "the record's clean for the most part. our stupid decision to match up's gonna end it though."

he orders his drink afterwards.

Wolfgang's shove under the counter refocused Gunner's attention on the conversation. There was no need for such forwardness; after all, both knew what the real point of their meetup was supposed to be. There would be plenty of time for touching after a drink and a chat.[break][break]

"Aeos? Never heard of it," Gunner admitted, taking a sip of his beer. Which meant it wasn't directly overseen or funded by the League government. Perhaps it was part of a private entity? "What sort of stuff are you doing with them? More engineering?"[break][break]

It was what Wolfgang had done during his tenure in Team Rocket.[break][break]

The other man's comment about his record prompted Gunner to chuckle. "No it won't. Trust me, this is all off-the-books and I won't say a peep about it to anyone. I don't kiss and tell."[break][break]

Perhaps that would ease Wolfgang's nerves. Then again, he always had an air of hostility around him. Gunner couldn't help imagining how fun it would be to sample some of that aggression in the bedroom.

"it's under silph co.. tech stuff, so what i do is technically that. doubt you'd find that interesting."

the parent organization has a reputation, after all. whether it's positive or negative, being associated with it was meant to be impressive, or at least wolfgang tries to be.

"and why not?" he asks as a follow up. "tell 'em. i don't mind. ain't that the excitin' part of this?"

their drinks come as quick. the staff has been in their element given the occasion, and there was no slowing down for them, or the two people at the bar counter for that matter.

he takes his drink, but his eyes don't wander off of gunner's.

"come on, officer. i'm certain you'd want to vent about this to someone later." he chuckles. "those restrictions i had to follow were a pain, y'know. surely, you'd let me blow of some steam 'cause of that."

he breaks his part with a sip of his beer.

"how about you? you still on that program? the stuff with looking after ex-rockets?"

Wolfgang's attempt to impress succeeded; Gunner's eyebrows rose into his forehead as he regarded the other man. "Wow, Silph Co. So you caught the eye of the infamous Fernando Silph," he mused aloud. "You must be working on some cutting-edge technology, then."[break][break]

The sentiment was sincere, not mocking. Wolfgang had come a long way from being a criminal and terrorist. Gunner smiled, pleased that reintegration into society had gone so well for the other man.[break][break]

His smile turned into a grin, then a laugh as Wolfgang egged him on. Gunner leaned in close.[break][break]

"If that's what gets you off, it can be arranged. I'll brag all you want about—" and then he leaned in even closer to whisper lewd suggestions into Wolfgang's ear.[break][break]

Gunner withdrew, a shit-eating grin splitting his face. He took a big swig of beer before returning to a more polite topic.[break][break]

"Yeah, I'm still involved in the rehabilitation program. Not that I work with people one-on-one, but I help conduct the initial interviews and do check-ins once in a while. You're familiar with that."[break][break]

Their visits had been regular, scheduled. After a solid year without any infractions or suspicious activity, the HBIC declared Wolfgang graduated from his parole. He could live freely without having to report his activities or whereabouts to them. And as a result, Gunner had stopped dropping by his home.

his lips have been on the rim of the glass as gunner gives him a rundown, only to separate from it as they get back on the more social topic.

"too familiar."

wolfgang had been trying to hide his reaction with beer. to hear this guy, who gets too into his work etiquette back then, say those kinds of things gets him hot in too many places.

maybe it's the contrast of both images, or that he's just been lonely for a good while now.

"how long are we stayin' here for then?" perhaps gunner has stirred wolfgang enough. "i'm ready for my one-on-one, big boy."

he had always been impatient. this wasn't uncharacteristic of him.

Wolfgang's abrupt lack of chattiness signaled to Gunner that his forwardness had paid off that time. Pleased with himself, he drank more beer, ready to suggest they leave once that first round was over.[break][break]

But Wolfgang's question suggested he was ready now. Gunner's heartbeat quickened with excitement, and he shot the other man a yearning, hungry look.[break][break]

"Finish your drink and we'll go. I'm not wasting a good beer," he said with a laugh, before downing the rest of his glass.[break][break]

After they finished and paid, Gunner was more than happy to leave the bar. He stepped out onto the sidewalk and looked over at Wolfgang. "Your place or mine? I live in Slateport."[break][break]

Alternatively, they could get a cheap motel, but when you had Pokémon that could teleport, why spend fifty PD when you could have a romp in the comfort of your own home?

the bar doesn't get a second glance as they leave the establishment. they have an itinerary, and they're going to see it through.

"mine," he offers. "i have a place around here."

his last home was ravished by the skirmish between rocket, league and dialga at littleroot. it might have been the last recorded address in their database, but it doesn't matter now.

lilycove housed silph co.'s hoenn branch, and so did the housing they provided for its employees should they need it. the apartment complex was walking distance to where the concentration of bars were, owing to the fact that the owner was an alcoholic.

"i have a roommate, but i doubt he's home." wolfgang guides his guest towards the building and into an elevator. "you have me the entire night. ain't that peachy."

he pulls him inside the elevator with him, alone in a confined space with just the two of them.

Gunner wondered if Wolfgang realized how eager he sounded by inviting him to stay the entire night. The blonde said nothing, however, as they entered the narrow, cramped elevator.[break][break]

As soon as Wolfgang pressed the button for his floor and the doors closed, Gunner stepped toward him, hands reaching for his waist and neck. If the other man allowed, he would press him against the wall of the elevator with his body and capture his lips in a heated, needy kiss.[break][break]

If Gunner had his way—if the elevator ride were infinite—he would start undressing Wolfgang right then and there. But he knew they only had mere moments, just enough time to share a taste of what was to come.

privacy be damned for wolfgang returns the kiss live on camera.

a hand presses against gunner's chest as his back slams against the elevator walls. it was short-lived, as with every elevator ride, but the tease is enough to leave them longing for more.

as soon as the door opens, wolfgang licks his lips and walks out. his legs pace through the corridors of the complex with haste as his hands unbutton the first few of his shirt from the top.

they reach his door. his key clicks in no time as he swings the door open.

"fuck it," he mutters in annoyance. wolfgang gives up on unbuttoning his shirt and instead opts to just take it off like a tshirt, throwing it towards the couch immediately.

he turns and immediately plants another kiss on gunner's lips as soon as he steps in his apartment.
