Well, you don't know what you don't know, and there was no way around that, so Yuina couldn't question more about what an 'avatar attack' meant. She was very much trapped in a large variety of she didn't know what she didn't know, she couldn't fault someone else for the same thing. Kyoko stayed close, and Yuina watched as the man's gadgets became mostly collapsible, easier to carry, which was fortunate, and at least too he had a Pokemon to help carry them. It was, like many, a Pokemon she hadn't seen yet, so she had no frame of reference for what a 'normal' version of the Pokemon looked like. In any case though, she didn't do much else but smile at the feline, she couldn't be offended by a Pokemon who didn't know who she was?[break]
"She's very pretty, and looks like you also take very good care of her just like Milksteak," Yuina returned, and it seemed it was time to start heading deeper into the wilderness. This whole 'avatar attack' business still sounded kind of dangerous, so she definitely heeded the man's caution. She didn't know what could be out there either.[break][break]
"The grass type Pokemon in the area have already been pretty strong, I wonder if that would trend upwards as we get closer to the disturbance," she pondered, starting to move forward with him.[break]

Which, if Tempest had to guess what it was now, he would say 'none' given the reports. The main thing was seeing if it was heal over time or if the forest needed more outside help to prosper again.[break][break]

At Tempest's feet, Mitten fluffed herself up at @yuinahigahi's compliment. She still didn't look back at the other, but there was a certain pleased swagger added to her steps as they traveled deeper.[break][break]

Walking carefully through the forest, Yuina nodded along with what the intention was in trying to get closer to this section of dead grass in the middle of things, though she really didn't know what kind of bacteria they were testing for or why it mattered. That didn't mean that she couldn't still try to help out though in the name of science.[break]
"Temp, alright. Are you a scientist primarily? What do you study," Yuina wondered, he sure had the equipment to tout being a scientist it seemed like, so she couldn't be surprised if it was an actual profession perhaps.[break][break]
Kyoko remained close, trudging along the grass with Yuina and their small group, and zapping through some of the trees a small ball of glowing orange energy rushed at her. The fire type flared, and struck with Infernal Parade to have a chance at striking the small, fast moving Pokemon with as many wisps as she could manage, and allowed an opening for Yuina to throw in a Pokeball for good measure.

It's out of habit that Tempest almost answers 'no'. But that wasn't true anymore, was it? He had transferred to the Science Division, after all, and was working directly under a lead scientist now... didn't that make him a little bit of a researcher?[break][break]

"I am." There is a small lift of Tempest's shoulders, pleased with himself, even if the new title didn't feel like it fit just yet.[break][break]

"Macro Ecology. How all the little pieces of nature fit together to make the big pieces! Like, how the flight patterns of Seagull in Winter changing might effect the Feebas population, broad concepts like that. It's really fun to step back and see puzzle pieces you didn't even know wear there line up."

There was a shift in Temp's demeanor at her question, he'd been pretty even keel thus far, though he was definitely thoughtful in general, but as he answered her question, he seemed to bloom a little bit more. His enthusiasm was making him blossom and Yuina couldn't help the smile on her face in return.[break]
"Oh wow, that's really interesting and... Compelling to think about. You're right, I couldn't have put together that something as simple as Wingull flying somewhere different could change so much else," Yuina pondered, agreeing with Temp, being able to see those tiny pieces and put them together into one big environment, she could understand why he would enjoy the compelling nature of it.[break][break]
Continuing along through the grass and trees as they spoke, Kyoko kept an eye out for the grass types in the area, but Yuina stopped when she heard more of a crunch beneath her shoes, a dry, brown patch of grass spotting the ground beneath her.

A caw caused him to stop, peering forward. Dried and dead grass had started to sparsely appear around the area, yellow or brown. It crunched underfoot. The area was deadly quiet, which made Tempest frown as he looked around. It was like a curse had befallen the area.[break][break]

"I guess we're at the edge of the... infection? Would that be the right word?" Either way, he shifted his shoulders to drop his backpack on the ground. It hit with a heavy thump, metal clinking and clacking inside.

Looking out to the grass and trees, it did seem like they'd reached the turning point of the forest, where the greenery seemed to stop, like the life had been sucked out of it all. It was strange, to see such a clear line, but Yuin couldn't argue with Temp's terminology for it. It was like an infection the way it looked...[break]
"Yeah... I think infection is the right word... No wonder the Pokemon have been out of sorts in the area," she regarded, and she wondered and worried if there were any Pokemon in the area that were affected by this too, like if their infinity energy would have been sucked out of them too like the grass and trees.[break]
"You'll be able to get plenty of samples by the looks of it..."

"Yeah, I should be able to get a lot!" Already, Tempest had slid some disposable gloves on his hands and taken out a container full of vials. Very carefully, he knelt down and started to take samples of the dirt, of the plants, of everything he could get his hands on. They were all labeled carefully before being put back into the case for case keeping.[break][break]

But, he frowned, looking out into the treeline.[break][break]

The pokemon at his side whined and growled softly for his attention, to express their discomfort. He thought of the wilted grass types all in the area. How they fled....[break][break]

"I don't think we should go much deeper inside." A little sad, but this would have to do for now. Starting to pack up his supplies, Tempest turned his gaze back to Yuina Higashi and gave a small smile.[break][break]

"Thanks again for helping me out! Hey, I know this nice diner in Petlaburg; want to go grab lunch? My treat, to pay you back for the company!"
