This world isn’t meant for him. Before them is a stream of light, stretching out across a human sea. People wave batons of a hundred colors in rhythm to a beat. They worship idols who do not truly exist.[break][break]
It’s a funny word, idol. Navy’s never gone in for the culture. It’s fitting, for they worship a vision they have of Melody. Very few of them truly understand the heart beating in her chest.[break][break]
There’s no need for them to. They believe in the ideal of Melody Miro the singer. The truth doesn’t help you get through a shitty day, nor does it soothe you at night when you can’t sleep.[break][break]
Sitting backstage with his Pokemon, he marvels at all of this. It’s a brainchild born of his penchant for the spotlight and her panache. Instead of dueling in her chamber, they’ll duel in her world: the stage. Before the eyes of ten thousand screaming fans, she’ll sing, dance, and battle. It’s his job to keep up with her.[break][break]
He’s got his team ready. The match will begin whenever he’s called. Wearing his favorite jacket, pokeballs slung on the side of his belt like a gunslinger’s holster, he’s ready for this. She’s good – good enough to be a champion. This fight will be hell.[break][break]
Hell if he ain’t gonna try and have fun with it.[break][break]
His name’s called. An entrance is made. Sol, his lead, looks down at him. They haven’t worked together much, but he made the red dragon a promise: they’d reach the top together. For Gabe.[break][break]
“Come on, Buddy.” Sol, who Navy found as a Charmander, nods. Smaug, a recent acquisition of his, rumbles and flies alongside the two.[break][break]
He’s met with the roar of the crowd. A rush of cool air. The eclectic energy of the stage. He doesn’t understand how a superstar could need drugs. This feeling is a high better than any he’s ever felt.[break][break]
“Hey, Starlight.” Navy grins at the woman he loves. “Ready to give ‘em a good show?”

Melody arrives earlier than normal she would for any other Elite 4 match. She sits in her room, people clamoring around her worrying about her appearance and her clothes but the only thing she can think of is the conversation they had in the woods. [break][break]

Her heart is torn into a different million ways, her thoughts only complicating things further as she twists the ring on her finger as she delves into her thoughts. Eventually the producer comes into the room and gives her the five minute warning. She stands up and tries to shake it all off, literally, she shakes it off before she claps her hands together to process it all. [break][break]

She walks onto the stage as the crowd goes insane for her, she waves to all of them excitedly as she hadn't been on the stage in a very long while since her break from music. "I always put on a good show, I'm more interested in seeing if you'll be able to keep up with me." she grins as she plays into cocky banter a bit. [break][break]

She pulls out two pokeballs as it seems that Navy had already picked the two he'd be using first. "Charizard and one of those dragon's that freya morningstar is obsessed with?" she mutters to herself. She then smiles "Navy, do you remember my favorite genre of music?" [break][break]

As she releases her two choices, both of her toxtricities in amped and lowkey form.

“You’re making your own bid for champion, yeah? Guess we both missed something in the interview.” He takes in the cheering of the crowd. The eclectic energy. The rhythm of her body and the contour of her smile.[break][break]
“Champ’s gotta be stylish.” Sol and Smaug roar their agreement. Their roars only serve to hype the crowd up more.[break][break]
“Classical music, right? My favorite’s From The New World, Movement 4. Always gets me amped up.”[break][break]
“Well, starlight, let’s start the show.” Whistling, his Pokemon move in for the battle plan they discussed backstage. It’s insidious, but he has to go all-out for Melody.[break][break]
He has faced the hell that is Matias, Callan’s mind, and Greyson’s grit. All of them pale before the woman he loves. Fitting that the strongest woman in Hoenn would be the one to pierce his heart.[break][break]
“Go low!” He commands them. Smaug makes a beeline for the low-amp Toxtricity. Knowing that some form of interference will soon come, Sol charges as well. He lays down a smokescreen near the middle of the field. With all the waving and fans blowing across the stage, it won’t last long.[break][break]
He doesn’t need the smoke to last long. Smaug emerges from the smoke, flying towards the amped-up Toxtricity. His claw is raised, aiming a throat chop for the high octane lizard.[break][break]
“Come on, Melody.” His grin is ear-splitting. “Let’s show ‘em how champs fight.”

Upon his answer, Melody grins as her music begins to play. She smirks at him calling her starlight, it felt familiar, it felt comfortable yet she couldn't exactly recall why as she raises her hands and her piano behind her began to play as both of the toxtricities "You're right. Let's show begin!"[break][break]

The smokescreen rushes towards Melody's side of the field obscuring her vision of his pokemon entirely. She sends out her orders but suddenly a throat chopping roaring moon emerges and jabs her amp'd toxtricity in the throat greatly limiting her options off the bat. "Misdirection huh? How about this one?!" she says as Melody's PLUS and MINUS activates alongside their PUNK ROCK. [break][break]

"Jetsom! Crescendo! Floatsom use Adagio!" she orders as she tries to misdirect him the same way he did it himself. The Toxtricity who just got throat chopped throws up a PROTECTive barrier to protect himself from the incoming attack as her lowkey Toxtricity charges up a BOOMBURST attack, it didn't matter where he was if Melody could just use an attack the encompasses the entire field.

All he has to say, watching the battle play out, is that they’re lucky this stage has been tested. Pokemon battle concerts are a time-honored custom, and lots of work goes into ensuring attacks don’t extend beyond the stage.[break][break]
Let’s see. Usually…she’d do something omnidirectional here.[break][break]
She may not remember their time together in Galar, but he does. It’s an unfair advantage, but it’s what he has to use if he’s going to walk the path of champions. Making a snap judgement call, he whistles to the two.[break][break]
“Smaug. Smash. Sol…get ready. Endure this. You’re up next.” Sol’s eyes find Navy within the smokescreen. Having been trained by both Navidson brothers, he knows what that means: a big hit is coming.[break][break]
Sighing, he gives an unseen nod. As the hypersonic wave of noise washes over him and ruptures his eardrums, he does an elegant dragon dance, soaring into the air. The audience gasps at the display, Sol enduring the pain with a warrior’s grace. He didn’t have much choice.[break][break]
“This guy look familiar, Melody?” He asks, nodding up at the Charizard dancing across the sky.
Smaug slams into the ground. A rumble turns into a tremble, which cascades into a quake. The whole battlefield rocks with the force of his earthquake. If she wants to level an attack at everyone, so will he. Both attack while the other plans.[break][break]
What vicious symmetry.[break][break]
He can’t stop grinning. He loves this woman. This is the dance of a lifetime.

Melody spots both of his pokemon in the air. He had the terrain advantage in that regard, they'd be able to go into the sky with their of her pokemon being able to get in physical hits like that...however she didn't really need to rely on her close combat moves for very long. Suddenly as his roaring moon sets up with dragon dance, Charizard slams into the floor causing an earthquake to hit both of her Pokémon, dealing severe damage to her side of the field. "Damn it!" she mutters under her breath as she mutes her microphone. "Your brother's charizard right? I remember him, but can you wield him enough to stop me?" she grins as she tries to play up the drama for the audience, however she wanted to challenge navy, tease him to see if it'd fluster him. [break][break]

Throat chop was still severely limiting her options on floatsom..."Cadenza!" she orders him as he strums the organs across his chest and gathers up a nasty disgusting ball of toxic sludge and hurls it towards the charizard (SLUDGE BOMB) that had just attacked him, looking to try and inflict poisoning on the charizard. "Jetsom! Rondo!" she calls out as the lowkey form toxtricity rushes forward and slides on his knees and stricks at his organs while yelling at the roaring moon as it uses SWAGGER to temporarily raise the pokemon's attack stat even more but inflicts CONFUSION on the pokemon.

So many of Gabe’s Pokemon were picked up before Rocket’s attack on Slateport. Sol was the last Pokemon to join his team. Ironic, considering what the Charizard line is famous for. He’s trained a certain way, a reflection of a young idealist’s heart after seeing what Rocket did to his country.[break][break]
Sol is a Pokemon destined to burn. Burn brightly. Burn magnificently. Burn out.[break][break]
“Sol n’ me are ready for whatever you can throw at us.” Well…or he will be soon. There’s problems coming on two fronts. Toxic sludge screams up to Sol from his vantage point.[break][break]

Sol turns into a white-hot meteor as he descends down upon the field. He’s a streak of fire. The crowd goes silent. Their heart catch in their throats at the inferno before them.[break][break]
Sol has mega evolved. Above them like a mirror ball blazes the light of the sun. His flare blitz is an all-out gamble. He means to strike the Toxtricity, burn him, do everything in his power to take that one out of the fight with him.[break][break]
“He really is like Gabe.” Navy whispers, more to himself than to Melody.[break][break]
Smaug’s performance this turn is…less impressive. His trainer is more focused on the other side. Navy’s too slow on the draw. A throat chop swings too wide and he hits himself. Grunting in pain, the beast turns and tumbles in the throes of confusion.[break][break]
Navy grips a black pokeball. He has the cure for what ails Smaug.

Melody reaches to mega evolve her pokemon when she sees that navy activates his, but instead Melody shakes her head no and puts the one away. She wouldn't be able to fully use mega toxtricity to it's max potential with that throat chop constantly threatening her sound moves. "Protect!" she calls out as toxtricity throughs up a protective barrier, but it didn't matter. The mega evolved pokemon's powerful move rips through the barrier and Melody gasps in shock "What?!" The flames consume both pokemon as toxtricity cries out in pain and is sent reeling back and the crowd starts to yell in a frenzy as the battle was heating up. [break][break]

The toxtricity gets back up, it's body releases small streams of steam from it's body as it gasps heavily, it refused to go down but melody could see the wounds on it's body slowly tiring him out. She had to make sure she got as much value out of it as she coulda t the moment. "Jetsom protect your brother!" she says as by now the THROAT CHOP should have passed

He was targeting her amped up toxtricity, he had to know it was the more offensive of the two. The lowkey toxtricity strums it's guitar as MINUS and PUNK ROCK start to charge up and the amped up toxtricity attempts a risky move, it tries to grapple the mega evolved charizard, knowing full well that the pokemon would be able to break out of it's grasp, however he ALSO goes for an OVERDRIVE by using his spare hand to strum his chest organ.

Were this any other Charizard, he could have dodged that grapple. Were this even Navy’s Charizard, he could have escaped the grapple. Sol is not, strictly speaking, Navy’s Pokemon. He is Gabriel Navidson’s, a hand-me-down trained by a boy who burned himself into an early grave. Sol returns the grapple with a macabre embrace that looks like a hug.[break][break]
He pushes himself to the brink. He pushes himself over the brink. Electricity floods him. The overdrive scorches Sol’s body. A beast of the air is especially sensitive to electric currents. Feeling the strum of the guitar, he does what he does best. Only a tiny indication of his head back towards Navy indicates a pause for input.[break][break]
“If this is what you want, do it, you crazy bastard. We’ll see you on the other side.” Navy preps the pokeball to recall him when this is done. This is just how he fights. “But only do this if you wanna do it, Sol.” A quiet moment between trainer and Pokemon passes. Sol beats his wings and lifts up, a trail of smoke, fire, and electricity following him into the sky. The music kicks up, the almighty thrum of the beat carrying with the song.[break][break]
“Wonder if this’ll work out here like it did with Isaac.” He whispers, more to himself. Isaac Merlo’s heracross had taken this like a champ. Smaug, at least, is halfway in his right mind. Navy decides to push him all the way there. Holding a black crystal, he throws it at his dragon. Crystal sprout around him, and he emerges crowned in the earth itself.[break][break]
“Quake!” He shouts while the audience is distracted. And, once more, he slams his tail. He thrashes his whole body about. Like his trainer and his partner, he gives everything he has. Beneath their feet, the audience feels the ground shake. For Navy and Melody, this is a deadly dance – two trainers giving their all. For the audience, it’s a hell of a good show.[break][break]
Sol turns towards the ground, aiming to crash with the Toxtricity in hand.

Navy is proving to keep up with her, actually melody is on the back pedal as he proves to start being faster with her on how to out think her in this situation. Melody's toxtricities while a strong duo, are limited in their options to respond against this team. Throat chop limited their move sets, their typing changes, their difference in strength, Plus-minus and punk rock abilities could only do so much if she couldn't even use those offensive moves. [break][break]

The Charizard slams into the floor with the toxtricity, both of them falling victim to the earthquake and the slam move as the dust settles. To a sudden surprise both of melody's pokemon had been defeated in one fell swoop and the music pauses. Melody's speechless, she hadn't forseen them going down so easily. "Holy crap." she says on the microphone as the audience gasps as well at the sudden shift.[break][break]

However, as melody's head looks down, her gaze looks back up at Navy with a borderline crazy smile on her face as she suddenly stomped her feet one after another in exictement. "You really are crazy! That was amazing!! You wont mind if I go all out then right?!" As she doesn't even wait for him to respond. She recalls both of her pokemon and grins "I haven't felt this way in so long Navy, you're in for it now!" as Melody suddenly throws caution to the wind. [break][break]

The music restarts and a new song starts to play instead, an unreleased one "Let's give the crowd a little tease of my next album, K?" she says as the music starts to build up and she pulls out two new sets of pokeballs. From the two pokeballs emerge a rather strange combination, a Cherrim and a Marshadow take to the field. She starts to sing, and the pokemon rush into, already having a routine made for each other as Cherrim launches a blast of light into the sky using SUNNY DAY at first it would be extremely confusing as to why exactly she did that, Charizard had solar power right? [break][break]

That's exactly what she wanted. Marshadow slinks into the shadows as her FLOWER GIFT activates and increases the team's physical attack and special defense. Marshadow uses a move Navy might be unfamiliar with, SPECTRAL THIEF on the CHARIZARD and STEALS THE DRAGON DANCE BOOST, AND THE BOOST FROM SOLAR POWER AND THEN ATTACKS IT WITH A SHADOW PUNCH FROM UNDERNEATH HIM

“Dude,” One of the Dewford hipster says in the audience, his jaw slack, “is it just me or are they like, totally fucking each other with their eyes right now?”[break][break]
“Nah it’s not just you. Sheriff and her look like they wanna rush across the stage and kiss each other. Or maybe like, punch each other. Both?” They say this over the blaring music, words lost to the sound of the beat.[break][break]
Navy says a quiet prayer of thanks to Arceus above that Sol was already down for the count. If Marshadow redirected all of that fury onto Smaug, the score would be two for two instead of two to one. Smaug and Sol are both withdrawn. There’s no point to risking Smaug on this fight when he’s got another battle plan coming.[break][break]
Instead, he pulls out the unlikeliest duo in the world: Roland, one-armed Iron Valiant, and Kleffa the Klefki. It was only after Kleffa was named that Navy realized that there was a Pokemon named Cleffa. Upon consideration, he realized that this would confuse his opponents far more than it would him or his team, so he simply didn’t care.[break][break]
“Kleffa, lock down Cherrim. Roland, cover her.” So the orders are given, so they are carried out. Kleffa’s quite the little prankster. When it comes to causing mischief, few things are as fast as her. Roland covers the thunder wave with a moon blast directed at their good friend Marshadow.[break][break]
“Melody…it’s so fun watching you fight.” He’s grinning. It’s a wide grin. Two fighters going all out, putting their heart into it. What more could a guy want?[break][break]
So, in front of twenty thousand adoring fans and Arceus knows how many people watching online or on their televisions, he puts their relationship out in the open.[break][break]
“I love the hell out of you.”

His pokemon are swapped out, Charizard goes down and roaring moon is recalled into the safety of it's pokeball. Melody smirks as he gives his orders, in just a moment she managed to flip the chessboard on it's head and she had him on the back pedal. [break][break]

Iron Valiant, Klefki. [break][break]

That klefki proved to be a menace when she didn't immediately jump his side of the field. Cherrim is overcome with PARALYSIS and tries to break through it. [break][break]

And it manages to break through, the Cherrim sends out a flurry of WORRY SEEDS towards the KLEFKI in an attempt to remove the Pokémon's PRANKSTER ability and replace it with INSOMINA. However, as a result of the support being preoccupied, Marshadow felt the full effects of the moon blast The super effective move rocks it's body and just like that her rhythmn was disrupted again, impressive, but she expected nothing less from him. [break][break]

he then starts to try and flirt with her it seems during the performance and her face turns beet red. She wasn't good with these emotions, she had such little experience with them, trust, comfort, love. [break][break]

So she decides to be honest with herself and the must pauses momentarily as she speaks. "I love watching you, you inspire me to do more, to be more than I already am. You make me...you make me feel it's ok to not know me, because regardless of who she is, you'll be there for me. " [break][break]

"I love you Navy." she says as the song suddenly starts again and Melody starts to dance to the music as her face stays a pinky shade of red and the crowd gasps. Marshadow knows exactly what she wants him to do He jumps into the air, igniting his foot to be boosted by his STOLEN STATS, and the SUNNY DAY FIRE TYPE MOVE BOOST. The marshadow starts to descend onto KLEFKI in an attempt to score some critical damage.

“I will. Win or lose, no matter what. I’ll be there with you.” Crossing his hand over his heart, he swears that solemn vow. Even as he plays the part of a lovestruck warrior, which he very much is, his mind tries to navigate him out of this predicament. That Marshadow and its partner in crime are a deadly pair. Truth be told, there’s no way Roland or Kleffa will be able to defeat her. Even with the type matchups, these two are going to fall.[break][break]
It's just a matter of mitigating losses. It’s a matter of holding on just long enough for those who come after you. Use your brain and pass on the torch when your time comes.[break][break]
For now, Klefki has one final trick they can play before the seeds take root. The question is…which trick? Which trick will they give with a Marshadow’s fiery punch barreling towards them.[break][break]
“Kleffa. Misty Terrain. Throw it out above you.” Klefki doesn’t question. She has no time to do anything except obey. Tossing her keys up in the air, a misty fog begins to spread through the sky above them. It blocks out the dazzling sunlight, spreading a pink mist that seems to go along with the atmosphere set by the song.[break][break]
And then, she is hit. It’s one hit powerful enough to knock her into next week. Coughing, sputtering, she barely hangs on. One more hit and she’s already down for the count. It’s a miracle she survived beyond this one hit.[break][break]
“Roland. On Cherrim.” Roland quirks a robotic eye but doesn’t question. Instead, he turns his blade towards the flower. She, too, is given a moon blast as fey light rains down on all of them.[break][break]
“I’d love to see the look on Rocket’s face if you threw this little trick out on ‘em, Starlight.”

The misty terrain was a surprise, she was caught off guard. The cherrim was also caught off guard as FLOWER GIFT DEACTIVATES and cherrim goes back to her OVERCAST FORM and Marshadow loses it's extra power from it. The cherrim gets slammed by the moon blast and flops backwards as it rolls onto it's side. It gets back up raring to go in the most lethargic way possible. Meanwhile Marshadow's attack still hits, but not OH-KO'ng the klefki like she had anticipated so he quickly slinks away into the shadows to put distance between it and the keys. [break][break]

She smiles at his words, but she continues to sing the song as Navy turned the tides on her so easily, but this Diva wasn't going to let her shake it "Are you the queen or are you the pawn? Will you master the night or wait for the dawn? Is it all the blood and damage done? Would you die under the spotlight just to hear all the applause?" as the crowd begins to roar and Melody makes direct eye contact with Navy, it was clear she was speaking to one of them, but whether she was addressing herself or Navy was up to him to decide with his next response to her moves.[break]

The paralysis still lingers [break][break]

It powers through the paralysis, but it's still a lot slower than it used to be, navy would be able to easily respond to this attack as it manifests a POISON JAB onto it's hand and rushes towards ROLAND. Cherrim meanwhile, gets back up and shakes off the remnants of the glitter from the moonblast as it puts up a lazy HELPING HAND for MARSHADOW
