And like that, gripping on, he threw himself from the back of his dragon. It was a reckless move, but he was going to get dragged off anyway, he could feel the tide turning. But the fall would have to come, it always did.

At least he wanted to do it on his own terms, as he went for another headbutt, the rushing wind threatened to drown out any sound. So he roared out the next set of words. ”I don’t care about ending it, about stopping it, until only people like me and you are left.” That was it.

With wind in her hair and stomach in her throat, she digs her nails into Kouji, keeps him from slipping away.[break][break]

She recognizes the creature's touch. Opening her eyes, she confirms it. Mokuren, fresh from dragging the fallen trainer from before to shore, acts as a life preserver. She drags herself onto her Clodsire's back, shooting back at Kouji.[break][break]

"... A world that tears itself apart is better than a world that survives together? Are you even listening to yourself!?"[break][break]

But she knows he's beyond saving now. It was some naive hope she might convince him, but he's thoroughly entrenched in this crusade. Only conflict brings the salvation he desires. She almost envies him, for he still exists in a world that simple.[break][break]

"C'mon, you idiot! Grab my hand!"[break][break]

She knows it's pointless, but even if he reflects all the worst aspects of herself back at her, she still holds out her hand. It's a last-ditch effort, to offer him another path. To show him there's another way.[break][break]

Kouji didn’t care, there was never any other option for him. In the murky depths of the waters around Dewford. But there was a part of him, who wished to take that hand; that of a friend, someone he trusted once.

Between coughs, sputters, and painful movements, like it had felt like hitting a glass wall, he could feel the bruises already beginning to form.

”Sorry Tsubaki, I don’t care about this world…Any world really anymore.” He said as he felt the strength escape from his muscles, he didn’t care if the waters took him, if the currents took him; he’d find his way back to the battlefield, even as a ghost.

”I just want to keep fighting.”

”Even if I ruin it for everyone else.”

That was the end all be all, the truth of the person he’d become, but he had made peace with that even if others couldn’t. But he wouldn’t take that hand, he slapped it away as the wing flap of a dragon hovered above him.

But she drove the knife deeper, putting the blame squarely on his shoulders. This world didn't force anything on him. It was just his selfish pride. He'd continue to hurt the world around him like it hurt him.[break][break]

She was living proof of it, the version of Kouji who sought redemption. The girl he knew who lost herself to violence, fighting day after day - for survival, because she loved it - had found her own salvation. [break][break]

Like looking in a mirror, it meant he had a chance. If that was so disgusting, if that made him sick, then so be it.[break][break]

She floats in the middle of the ocean, watching the man's Roaring Moon pull him from the sea and fly away. [break][break]

"Til then, you better fuckin' survive..."[break][break]

The poison would take hold eventually -- hope, salvation, the desire to be free of all the pain he caused himself and others. [break][break]

She just needed patience now. [break][break]

One way or the other, the current Kouji Matsubara would come to an end. [break][break]

It was a roll that started from the core of his stomach that wanted to roll to his throat, blocked by a wall that was his present common sense. Kouji hated it, the whirlwind of emotion that was threatening to take him over; to wash over the person he tried to become. The person he made himself become.

”Let it? The fuck do you mean let it!” It was a shout that came from the core of his belly. ”Are you kidding me? You forced me to survive here, to try to kill you, and now you try to lend your arm? Fuck that.”

”I only have the fight, nothing else, no-one else. I can’t stop, or else…” His voice stopped in the very middle, he stopped as he grit down his teeth until he could feel his molars crack. ”It doesn’t matter, hope you find someone else to try to save, keep that crap away from me.”

And so his dragon stood there for a singular moment, as if he was waiting not for his trainer, but for the rebuttal if any came.
