Great Tusk’s muscles tense up under the Plasma Fists. It convulses, shaking like a leaf on a tree. Yohei is slammed against the tree, slumping in a daze. Powerful as the dragon is, he’s not equipped for this fight. Navy pulls a spare ultra ball out of his pack. Considering he deployed here knowing he was coming into a war zone, he only packed one just in case. There’s just one shot at this. If the Pokemon breaks free, that’s that.[break][break]
Yohei is spared from a worse fate as the Great Tusk, weakened by the two-pronged assault, is pulled into the ball. Navy’s heart catches in his throat. With a gentle thump, the ultra ball falls to the ground. A picture perfect moment passes where nothing happens. No sound. No movement. Nothing. A perfect still life. The moment passes with frantic shaking. Never in his years has Navy seen a ball shake with such violent desperation. Wounded, beaten, angry, Great Tusk fights for his freedom. Whatever mechanisms are designed to keep Pokemon inside go into overdrive.[break][break]
There is a click that seems a miracle from on high. Sighing with relief, Navy goes to collect the ball. Yohei is recalled and granted the gift of rest. Doubtless, he’ll have to be retired after this. The goo dragon’s brief role in today’s battle has passed.[break][break]
“That could’ve gone so bad so quick, huh?” Navy laughs off what just happened. “Man…wish this mist would conjure up a Garchomp.” Pause. “…this region’s really starting to get to me.”

Eris’s words spur hatred for Rocket second only to the sight of his brother on a morgue slab with half his face missing. No girl should talk about herself like that. Rocket is a blemish, that like her scars, aren't due to fade any time soon. It garners looks of disgust. It draws out words of pity that she's grown sick of. But without them, there is no family nor home for her. Without them, there doesn't seem to be direction in her life. None that she's managed to grasp with certainty at the very least.[break][break]

Even still, she meets those bright golden eyes that have always watched over her since her birth. The way the ends of his lips curl and his gaze softens, his tail that's always wrapped around her hand to keep her company and stop her from toddling off at times.[break][break]

"There could've been a world where you were with another family, Reiner. Or where I never made it out of Kanto alive." Her thumb runs over his cheeks, a self-reassuring gesture that earns her a short huff from the Luxray. "There's plenty of people who are unhappier cos I'm here too."[break][break]

Cillian, who had sheltered her from the darkest of Rocket. Kouji, who had trusted her like some kind of friend after all they'd tackled together. Paxton, who had watched her continuously fail to shape up. Melody, who had once been so kind and guiding towards her before she razed it all to the ground. Surely, Eva must have held reservations regarding her choices. Doug had told her that he would support her decisions but how many of those had been the worst possible one to make?[break][break]

Hideo was now a child weighed with worries she had dared to share with him. Razz was no doubt shouldering quite a bit of responsibility regarding her reckless actions over the past few months. And Isaac... even if he smiled at her and claimed things to be okay, those injuries he had must still have hurt.[break][break]

"I'm a real troublemaker, just like my name." She laughs, quick to dabble in that very same act Navy put on when he made light of his own birthday. "Pa fought really hard to give me another, but I don't think I live up to it."

“Something tells me Reiner doesn’t care about those worlds. No point dwelling on what might be, or could be. We’ve got this world. Might as well make the most of it.
