After Josh held a meeting at Mauville Racing Grounds, gathering all his Pokémon to let them know they were going to war, Ares was pumped. He could not wait to torch some Rockets with Josh at his reins, relying on his trainer's riding skill to weave through wave after wave of attacks headed his way. He was one angry dragon, something Josh took full advantage of by letting him go ham on enemy combatants.

Flying toward the island's center from the League's base, the orange dragon waved his tail about, riding the thermals skyward while looking for an unsuspecting Rocket to dive-bomb. The two DRAGON DANCED through the air, picking up hair-raising speed before Josh spotted a foe at a much lower altitude. After checking his harness to make sure he was strapped into his cocoon saddle securely, Josh loosed all pressure from the reins, even pushing down on the Charizard. Ares responded with a nosebleed-inducing AERIAL ACE dive toward a perhaps-unsuspecting enemy combatant below.

Even with the the HEATRAN spitting fires and becoming a nuisance for both sides of the conflict, there's still much work to be done. Neon is tasked, for now, with assisting the sky patrol now. He and his dragon lay perched in the trees waiting for signs of the other side's flyers. [break][break]

They needed to maintain the air if their water and land forces wanted even a chance at maneuvering without interruption. At the very least, not being pelted on land, sea, and sky would make it easier. [break][break]

"Establish positions and let us know what going on." he relayed over radio. His dragon growls, low and sudden before the three heads snap up at once. Neon, who had been adjusting his seat and look around jerks back as the dragon takes off to just barely meet the AERIAL ACE in time. The dragon snarls as the Charizard smashes with rider in tow against him. "Engaging one on position 3, keep watch for more." he said, electronic voice flaring up along with the LED screen grin his helmet typically sported. [break][break]

Neon doesn't keep his partner from fighting back. Hotel grips onto the Charizard with a CRUNCH, all three heads attempting to latch onto the dual type and spin it mid drop so they could smash-land on top of their opponents.

The Rocket atop the Hydreigon Josh had ambushed was in a full bodysuit, their Hydreigon barely able to parry the swift diving strike. That the three-headed dragon could parry it at all was impressive, and a sign of the strength of the fighter the Gym Leader had picked a battle with. It was the orange dragon's enhanced speed from his Dragon Dance that kept the Hydreigon from chomping down with all three heads, only tasting the flesh with one head. Unfortunately for Josh, it was the central head.

Though the taste of Charizard flesh and blood may have been delectable for the Hydreigon, Josh's Pokémon was flying at such a high rate of speed that maintaining the lock may have put unbearable force upon the dark-type's jaw. Mid-dive, Ares let out a pained roar before belching SMOKESCREEN all around himself and Josh. Provided they were able to get away from the Hydreigon, Neon would see Josh astride a different Pokémon once the smoke had cleared: a Braviary that looked quite a bit larger than the norm.

Neon clung to his partner, aiming to interrupt this speed quickly. It'd be no good if he had a repeat of his Gym Challenge, and almost threw up at every turn. But Hotel doesn't need to be face. They just needed Josh to get close. [break][break]

At least they think so until the SMOKESCREEN clouds their fields of vision. Neon coughs, waving a hand frantically in front of his helmet's screen. He can swap to a different mode of vision fairly easily, but he can't exactly transfer what his helmet's sensors see to his partner. "Keep it them at bay 'till you're not blind!" he ordered, his dragon letting out a shrill screech as it began to emit a forceful wave of DRAGON PULSE.

The SMOKESCREEN was a double-edged sword; while it allowed Josh and Slider to distance himself from Mint and his Hydreigon, it also masked the three waves of DRAGON PULSE headed his Braviary's way. By the time the Gym Leader wheeled the apex predator back toward his foe, one of the pulses was far too close, singing the purple bird's belly and the rider's feet. Even at such a great distance, that stung. He knew of the power of Hydreigon; Kokusho was one of the Gym Leader's fiercest Pokémon, Josh only recently feeling comfortable riding the three-headed brute without a second flying-type backing him up.

With a flick of the reins, Josh coaxed his Braviary into the air. Hiding in the sun, the avian's feathers glowed a brilliant orange against the bright light of the nearby star. It was the build-up of a SKY ATTACK, a blindingly fast move. Even for the Badge holder, who had been qualified in the art of speed by the very person he was locking horns with, that kind of speed may have been too much for him to handle.

The SMOKESCREEN clears somewhat, the winds moving it away when there's no longer a source providing it. Hotel is riled up, all three heads looking for their prey. They sense it more than see it while their trainer is still checking their surroundings. Hotel isn't fast enough to dodge, but he seems to know that letting the Braviary slam them down. [break][break]

Neon screams in surprise but his dragon merely seems to grin. Or maybe it was just hungry. All three heads open their mouths despite the the wheezing from the SKY ATTACK that was currently forcing them to plummet at top speeds. Energy crackles amongst all three heads before Hotel sends back a TRI ATTACK, wings opening up fully to catch and slow him and his trainer down.

Josh leaned in on his avian mount, the fearless Pokémon meeting the TRI-ATTACK with a SKY ATTACK dive. A sonic shockwave would ring in any unprotected ears from the surreal pace of the Braviary's potent charge. The two looked like an orange meteor as they hurtled toward the Hydreigon with the fury of the Johtonian god of speed.

The slamming strike, if it hit, would do so with reduced potency; the red beam of the dragon-type's TRI-ATTACK singed the Braviary's underbelly with a nasty BURN. Provided Mint's Pokémon hadn't been knocked to the ground, the now black-bellied ace of the skies would spread his wings wide and try to fling the Hydreigon out of the skies with his SUPERPOWER.

The ground is coming up fast, and if Hotel landed on his back, Neon would be crushed. He lets Hotel know as much and his body tensed around. Hotel clawed for release, doing it's best to stay afloat only to jerk violently as the Braviary throws them with their SUPERPOWER. At the very least, mid throw, Hotel is able to adjust how he lands, skidding across the ground and small shrubbery with Neon clinging to his back. [break][break]

Incensed by being pushed out of the sky, the main head tracks their opponents. As the other two help it get up, and Neon pants and checks himself, Hotel launches a HYPER BEAM in fury, letting out a draconic screech as the energy beam cuts through the sky towards them. [break][break]

Neon for the most part hisses at the move before Hotel begins to take back to the air, its natural LEVITATE pushing it up a few inches before it began flapping and floating upwards.

Seeing the point-blank HYPER BEAM coming, Josh reached to perform a mounted quick switch, sliding off his Braviary's back and onto that of Ares, his Charizard. It was not a moment too soon, the triple HYPER BEAM burning gaping holes in the purple bird's wings and through his chest. Blood stained the feathers of the mutilated, motionless flying-type as he plummeted to the choppy waves below. Josh fired the Poké Ball's retraction beam toward the badly injured Pokémon, striking it true.

There was no more INFINITY ENERGY within the Pokémon for it to be recalled into the Ball.

Slider's still body disappeared beneath Dewford's waters with a big splash. Letting out a primal roar as the reality set in that mint frost had sentenced one of his trainer's loyal birds to death, Ares lunged for Hotel with fiery eyes, the incensed fire-type winding up for a DRAGON CLAW across the dark-type's three necks. That same fire was reflected in Josh's seething eyes, a fervor that would have made MATIAS SILPH proud.

"Hotel, disengage!" Neon ordered as he felt the dragon struggling to get off the ground. The tremors of muscle exhaustion ripple through his dragon and Mint is good backing off for now if it meant keeping one of his stronger flyers airborne. But the dragon is proud, and even though the HYPER BEAM induced exhaustion keep him docile, the Hydriegon roared defiantly, ignoring their trainer and instead arching all three heads up defiantly ready to bite or scratch or even grab the incoming threat. [break][break]

As the DRAGON CLAW severs Hotel's heads, Neon drops off the couple of feet with a grunt, but he doesn't miss the blood sprayed all over the front of his torso and part of his helmet. [break][break]

Glowing frown turning a sort of purple color in some spots with the addition of blood. Hotel's body drops to the ground, twitching at the sudden loss of its brain. [break][break]

As it falls down, Neon is already grabbing another pokeball to keep the Charizard and ride at bay before it came for him. A vaporeon hops out of the white light, before Neon calls out. "Charlie, push back!" Instantly the eeveelution blasts back a HYDRO PUMP while Neon takes out his pokeball for Hotel and snaps it in half, leaving the pieces of it over the pokemon as a sort of memorial before beginning to look for cover.

An eye for an eye.

Josh never took lives lightly. There were a lot of atrocities that could be undone. Unless your name was kyle lopez , death was not one of them. It was a mistake he had nearly committed with Eris Halla , and one that had taken months to forgive himself for. Before him, though, was a masked, clearly remorseless individual that was a Rocket loyalist. His mantra was to save those stuck in Rocket against their own will. Those whose fealty truly lay with Team Rocket fully deserved the wages of their sins.

And the wages of sin was death.

His foe was as remorseless as he thought, crushing the deceased Hydreigon's Poké Ball to pieces. Taking advantage of the opening, Josh reined his fiery mount into a dive toward Mint directly, FLAMETHROWER sizzling out of the pseudo-dragon's mouth. The gout of fire erupted into steam as Charlie's HYDRO PUMP pierced it, Ares closing his mouth just in time to keep the poisonous liquid from dousing his flame sac from within.

Clicking Bladestorm's Poké Ball open, the Skarmory was quick to enter a dive of his own and scoop Josh up. Back in the saddle again, he soared high into the air, the Metal Menace building up his IRON DEFENSES for a violent strike to come.

The Vaporeon snarled, backing up with Neon as the Rocket began to look around for the best course of action. "Let them come!" He ordered as the Vaporeon got ready, waiting for the dive to take his attack. For now, it seemed the gym leader was staying airborne, and Neon wasn't sure he really had a flying type left. Hotel had been his strongest one. And his biggest. [break][break]

Charlie fires off an AURORA BEAM trying to herd the pair down with a multi colored icy blast.

The airborne Gym Leader had Charlie in his sights. Having circled high above the sky until Bladestorm was a speck from Neon's perspective, Josh let go of the Metal Menace's reins, hanging them on the end of his saddle, and shoved at the base of the bird's metallic neck.

Entering a stoop that was so fast it would have made any other rider's nose bleed, the steel-type screeched toward the Vaporeon and trainer if he was nearby. Josh let the AURORA BEAM hit him and his mount head-on, his teeth clattering as the rainbow-colored cryo-beam left him otherwise motionless while it passed through him.

Gritting his teeth afterward, the Master of Faster pulled the bird's reins back into his hand, yanking up with all his might. When it looked like the Skarmory was going to spear the two, she pulled out of the dive with just as mighty of a swoop, squeezing the rider's lower body with almost as much power as the flattening BODY PRESS aimed at the water-type.

Neon doesn't expect Josh to take the AURORA BEAM head on, but good for them. He can respect it, in a way. The dive, even from here, is fucking insane. And Neon once more remembers their gym challenge and how he'd thrown up bid flight during that race. [break][break]

His Vaporeon takes the hit, protecting his trainer from the Gym Leader. The attack pulls a pained scream from the Eeveelution. But the metal bird is close now even if he's in pain. There's the flash of crystals stuck in the dirt, and Charlie bursts forth with bright green energy as he TERA TYPES, a flower crown blooming over his head. [break][break]

Snarling, the Vaporeon lunges for whatever he can get and slams down a TRAILBLAZE, trying to knock the rider off once more. so Neon could take him down instead. Quickly too. As the ground's GRASS TERA TYPE crystals are used up, out begins to leak a familiar, albeit dangerous pink INTERDREAM MIST.
