Tofu was adorable. He was perhaps the Cutest Pikachu To Exist. Or at least, that's what Tofu would have said to the likes of willow atkins and PENELOPE LIVY, both women who knew the power of his adorable, wide eyes. Especially when he wanted to eat the last sun chips out of his trainer's backpack when Ollie was otherwise distracted.

[break][break] Even though it would totally ruin his dinner.

[break][break] That had never stopped him before, though.

[break][break] The minute that Shred leaned in close, the Pikachu would lean forward and dig his small, tiny fangs into the other man's finger. Before releasing a terrifying explosion of electricity in a DISCHARGE.

[break][break] In that split-second, it turned out that the Rocket's Aerodactyl knew better. With a screech, it launched itself at the Head Ranger.

[break][break] "W-woah!"

[break][break] He skidded backwards, falling on his ass but just missing the blast of electricity from his pokemon. His sneakers skid against the pavement. The sneakers that were well-worn and scuffed. A pair of Adidas TM sneakers, that had been something Eva Morales had probably bought him for his birthday. Ones that were more running shoes than they were rock climbing, a pair of grey trainers with yellow soles and pale green accents. illeana reyes would probably recognize them well enough. Well, if she were into that sort of thing.

[break][break] (She were probably into a different sort of thing, if he had to guess, but it wasn't like they'd ever talked about it.)

[break][break] Ollie scrambled to his feet, trying to get up before the Aerodactyl made it's descent again.

[break][break] "Lock the doors!" he shouted, releasing his Cubchoo. Ice Cream lumbered forward, aiming a FROST BREATH to lock them in.

The bolts of lightning danced across the room, striking Shred as Ollie's Pikachu bit at his finger. This suit was designed by Amor Rose, a Head Scientist of Team Rocket, but it couldn't perfectly insulate against a direct Discharge.

"ARRGHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA" Shred's voice began to crackle and glitch as the suit began to fry. Shred shook at the tiny beast desperately, before throwing it off towards a wall.

Breathing heavily, Shred backed up and observed the situation. He had to escape, run away, and hide. He couldn't afford to skirmish with a Head Ranger right now. The differences in their ability would be night and day. Academics didn't fight, and Shred was one of Team Rocket's most mediocre fighters, even with training from @joker. Shirley was his strongest Pokémon, however. They had been together for years. Would it be enough?

Think. Not about the shoes, however. As nice as they were.

"We're done. This is over. I didn't want to hurt anybody!" The static-filled voice blared out in rage as the Aerodactyl changed course to fight against Ice Cream instead of Tofu and Ollie. The Aerodactyl could defeat this one swimmingly, or so Shred hoped.

"Iron Head!" Shred shouted, his Aerodactyl gaining a metallic sheen as it lunged towards the Cubchoo.

Ollie grits his teeth as the DISCHARGE races through the room. Obviously, the intended target is that Rocket scientist, but that doesn't mean that he can't get lost in the crossfire too.

[break][break] He braces his body for the electric charge, which lances painfully through his body. But he'd had to wrestle enough Mareep and Flaffy with Eva Morales as kids to at least be more dumb than usual.

[break][break] Frost gathered around the handle, attempting to close them all in but the Aerodactyl is quick. Blood spilled from the Cubchoo's face as it slammed backwards, heads lolling back devastatingly from the effect of the IRON HEAD knocking into him.

[break][break] "Hey! Ice Cream?"

[break][break] Suddenly, Ollie leaped away from Shred as he ran towards his dying Cubchoo. The door whisked open, leaving a person exit for the other.

As Ice Cream spilled blood over the cabin, Shirley's pupil diluted as her primal urge kicked in. She wanted to rip, tear, maim, feast. She would—

"Shirley!" Shred's—Howard's—voice rang out, reaching her. The Aerodactyl stopped, mouth agape, as Ollie and his Cubchoo escaped through the door. Shred took several steps towards Shirley. He shook his head at her sorrowfully. "We're not killers. Even if he tries to trick us, we must be better."

Shirley growled in agreement. Shred smiled. If she could overcome her base instincts, why couldn't he?

"Come on!" Shred ran through the door, and out into the fresh air. Many members of the League had already evacuated to the safety boats. Luckily, there were a few left. Shirley cut the rope on one, and it splashed into the water. Shred Zeppelin whistled, impressed at Nautica's technology. These extra boats were nice. Almost as nice as Ollie's sneakers.

"Hup! Shred and Shirley hopped down into the boat with a splash. Reaching for his belt, Shred unclipped his Phione's Pokeball, and tossed it. Catching his Phione, Shred submerged it.

Immediately, the emergency boat began to push away from Ollie's ship.

It wasn't the first time that a pokemon had died on his watch, especially not since engaging in battle with these Rockets, but it didn't hurt any less. He watched the light die from Ice Cream's eyes and felt his heart twist painfully, squeezing her tightly.

[break][break] Blood soaked fur pressed against his chest as he held her in her final breaths, giving just enough time for Shred and his entourage to steal onto one of the LEAGUE boats.

[break][break] Ollie would pay for it later, losing this way... but today, he'd lost more than just a battle.
