The unknown always carried a hint of danger. If you took a step into that empty space, how did you know the ground would be there to catch you? No risk, no reward. If people hadn't been willing to take a leap of faith, they'd have starved in their caves long ago.[break][break]

This was a bigger leap than most usually took, though. Hoenn, even the entire planet, was just a smaller piece of a much larger existence. From the vast expanse of the universe, to the myriad dimensions outside normal reality, they were so painfully small. So what lay at the very opposite end? What kind of place sat at the inverse of 'normality'?[break][break]

The Distortion World. Some closed off myth that had suddenly decided to start opening its doors one day. It had been a struggle to find someone willing to venture through one of the rifts, but he'd found a partner in the end.[break][break]

"If you start feeling 'off' in any way, let me know, got it? It'd suck if you died right after you transferred." And if he was responsible for the death of the husband of one of Team Rocket's underbosses, he would be so horribly, horribly fucked it wasn't even funny.[break][break]

"Kinda hard to predict how irregular laws of physics affect the human body, but the air's breathable, and I can see plant life in the distance, so maybe we'll be okay?" 'At least we're still alive.'

The Distortion World... Tempest had no idea what in the fuck was going on up in this shit.[break][break]

It was something he knew very little about even after reading reports. Alba Evovae had tried very hard before this to get him to understand; but Tempest was more a visual person when it came to learning about anything. It had went in one ear and out the other.[break][break]

This, though, he understood.[break][break]

"I'll be fine." Gently, Tempest waved the other off. "I have a Sygna Suit, so I'm more worried about you." Already, the knight outfit had slid into place. It thrummed with energy, active but not connected to his bonded pokemon at the moment. It made breathing a little easier.[break][break]

"So, we're just here for general observations, right?" The place was... backwards, to say the least. It Tempest stared off into he distance for too long his stomach started to hurt.

"Fair point… In that case, I'll be counting on you to rescue me if I suddenly start dying, got it?" He'd become a knight in shining armour… It was almost comical how out of place he looked, as if the Distortion World had swallowed up a character from a fairy tale. Or as if the knight from the story had suddenly decided to become a bandit.[break][break]

"But yeah, it's general observations. The easiest thing to test is probably how gravity and space work… and since I can see a waterfall flowing upwards over there, I'm gonna say 'not very well'." Something like pine trees orbited the fragmented ground around it. Up was down in one place, left in another, and just slightly east-northeast over there.[break][break]

He kept glancing at a watch on his wrist, checking that it was still keeping time properly. He'd check it against his phone later to see the difference between the passage of time.

"Of course." The reply rolled off of Tempest's tongue easily. It was what he always anticipated when on any mission. To throw himself into danger, shield the other people presence, so they might get away. Some might think it icy of him but Tempest just thought it was pragmatic. Usually he was the bulk muscle for minds much wiser than his own. It was fine.[break][break]

But, frowning, Tempest still glanced around at the landscape. He almost expected to see a melting clock or perhaps a buneary running about exclaiming how it was late.[break][break]

"If we stood at the base, do you think we would remain in place or float upwards?" Localized gravity could be interesting to figure out...

Tempest considered himself a shield, but in the grand hierarchy of Rocket, that shield would surely be considered more valuable than the soldier it was protecting. If one of them had to be sacrificed, the organisation had a clear opinion on who the ‘better’ choice was.[break][break]

Not that either of them were actually going to die. Sure, it was ‘possible’, but it wasn’t going to happen.[break][break]

“Let’s go find out, shall we? No need to bother asking questions when we can go answer them ourselves.” Alba almost skips across the ground as he walks, a pocket of lowered gravity trying to lift him with every step he makes.

Alba Evovae bounces along the ground like those videos of the Moon Landing; long leaping steps that weren't usually possible. Tempest does his best to follow, finding the same movements are both thrilling but leave him with a slightly sour stomach. It wouldn't be good to throw up here, but he does wonder which direction it would fall.[break][break]

Thought Tempest was known for water, specialized in water, did not care if water got his wet- something about the 'water' that flowed upwards kind of creeped him out.[break][break]

He gave it a distrustful look as they got closer, wrinkling his nose at the smell. Even though it was running, it smelled musty and stale. Weird.[break][break]

"Should we get samples from the trees?" He asked, already making his way over to one. His feet stayed flat on the ground but gravity righted itself. When Tempest looked back at Alba, it looked like the other man was standing sideways in mid-air. But, in reality, it was Tempest who had changed gravity.
