Josh slowed Raikiri down a lot, letting Janus lead the way. After separating from Momo by quite a distance, he heard a hybrid purring and barking noise from his Type: Null. "Janus, keep looking for the psychic residue. I think Aleph's found something." The young man reined the Zeraora toward the noise, seeing two perfectly healthy Machop astride the normal-type. Two more were barely conscious, moaning. The reason was quite clear when Janus found his way next to them: they had been assaulted with a powerful psychic attack, leaving them both in poor condition.

He'll let others' Pokémon ride him but not me? Come on! Josh thought, a disdainful expression on his face as he approached. "Triage, Aleph. Those two are more than capable of walking back to Ranger HQ." The Gym Leader slid off Raikiri long enough to help the other two Fighting-types get seated on his Pokémon: one on Janus, and one in front of him on his mythical thundercat.

OBJECTIVE A: COMPLETED

Finding no other trails of psychic residue, Josh and his Pokémon returned to rendezvous with Momo Sakai . "How goes the search?" he asked. "Was Dashie able to find out anything out beyond that the Hypno attacked them?"

momo reunited with josh, surprised at how many of the missing pokemon he was able to recover by himself. he didn't earn the rank of elite ranger for nothing, she supposed! "i found my bulbasaur! he was asleep, thank goodness, and unharmed for the most part. it's all thanks to you! oh, and sweet dashie, of course!" momo dismounted the galarian rapidash, and let the ride pokemon return to its owner. [break][break]

with a smile, she said, "dashie did seem to find something...i couldn't make sense of it, but it could probably take you back to the source to find out what's really going on." which was to say, there was likely a reason the hypno came to this place at all. it very likely had to involve dream eater as well as hypnosis. but that kind of reasoning was beyond momo's pay grade. she was content enough to play messenger, instead. A wide smile beamed from Josh's face when he saw Momo with her precious Bulbasaur once more. It was truly a heartwarming reunion. "Might want to consider a dose of Awakening for your Bulbasaur," the Elite suggested. "Pokémon can be really drowsy after waking from Hypnosis on their own."

When Momo mentioned that Dashie found something more, Josh guided Raikiri next to the Galarian Rapidash close enough to touch the flat of her horn. Opening his mind up for the psychic-type to communicate with him, he mentally listened to what his Pokémon had to say. The communication was far from perfect, but he could understand enough to get the gist of it. "...It's not just the Hypno. Beheeyem, and other psychic Pokémon, too."

OBJECTIVE B: COMPLETED

The Gym Leader shook his head in disgust. "There have to be bad actors involved. Those Pokémon aren't native to the area. They have to be trained. I think Law Enforcement should handle this ticket from here." As much as he didn't like leaving a job unfinished, and as much as he helped Law Enforcement out, he did need to get approval from them before taking on any jobs that would involve potentially apprehending human criminals.

"Let's head back to Mauville and make our report. Thanks for your help today. I'll make sure you get a cut of the check for this one." With that, he would scoot back in the mythical Pokémon's saddle and make room for Momo again, this time offering her a turn at the reins. He was sure she would appreciate going at the pace she was comfortable with for the return trip.

she felt like she could cry with tears of happiness! josh's advice to use an awakening was heeded well: momo nodded, and rummaged through her bag to see if she had one on her person. nope, but she'd be heading back to the city with josh, anyway, so she could buy one from a poke mart when they got there. [break][break]

"beheeyem and other psychic pokemon, too? oh..." she remembered that a lot of psychic pokemon had power over memories and mental manipulation. it was scary to think that they could pull off stunts like this, but less so when she knew that capable rangers like josh were out there. when he mentioned that they'd have to leave this to law enforcement, momo seemed relieved. they would know what to do with this information, surely enough. just getting back her bulbasaur was more than the girl could ask for! [break][break]

"thank you so much josh! i couldn't have done it without you." that said, she was ready to leave, and quickly mounted the saddle when prompted. he offered her the reins, and she looked at him with sparkly eyes, filled with gratitude. "let's go!" and off they set, back towards mauville, this entire debacle put behind them. [break][break]
