A blast of moonlight takes Navy in the chest. Around him, rangers and military officers gawk in stunned silence. They knew this route was dangerous. Ahead of them, the League is fast at work trying to make headway against Rocket. They face Heatran, pressure plates, and now heavy gravity binding them to shaky ground.[break][break]
Navy was always the willing to stand at the front. He was willing to lead the charge. It seems that it has led to his death.[break][break]
Only when the dust settles is the truth made plain: it is no body that has fallen, but a plushie cut in the shape of Johanna Joy. From atop a nearby bluff, a voice cries out.[break][break]
“Don’t think I heard an order to stop, Arceus damn it!” He bellows like a born commander. Hattori clings to him. Iron Valiants step out of the mist and swarm around the caravan. There are only two real defenders: Eris and Navy. Just two against many.[break][break]
In Navy’s chest burns a flame. No mere metaphor steeped in hyperbole, a flame burns where his heart should be, courtesy of kyle lopez.[break][break]
“Come on, troublemaker! Let’s make sure these guys get where they’re going in one piece!” Hattori is consumed in light and emerges taller, stronger, with more resolve. Mega evolution is as impressive a sight as ever.

[attr="class","inner-finally"]When Navy get struck in the chest before her very eyes, she finds that she has no voice to scream. Instead she runs, his name held tight upon her lips as she nearly runs for him -[break][break]

Only to be stopped by Reiner just seconds before the ground in front of her crumbles. He growls at her, teeth bared as he tugs her further away from the edge. And he'll pull her onwards, telling her to avert her eyes from the smoke and lies as Navy's voice rings out from above.[break][break]

Focus on the fight ahead, her fingers grasp at Reiner's mane as she swings right onto his back. Hearts as one, they're a duo that blaze ahead and crash into danger with a Wild Charge. And their partnership hits harder when they're a company, Doublade drawn with an unwavering trust.[break][break]

Driving right through the line of Iron Valiants, she takes a swing, Sacred Swords singing for battle as she slices into the torso of one. Claws follow up, Reiner twisting his body to face the paradoxes and ripping out the components that she's revealed.[break][break]

With a spark and a fizz, life fades from the creatures eyes. Then it collapses, dispersing into pink mist that billows through their ranks.

How he marvels at her charge. So young, and she already understands the key to being a warrior. She’s calm. Unperturbed by what surrounds her. Her emotional baggage comes from the thousand pains adults have inflicted upon her, not death in battle.[break][break]
Hattori is by her side. Throwing out his shuriken. Charging the line of Iron Valiant. Men run. Some of them throw out mid-evo Pokemon. They help. Navy has to shout many of them back. Roland, his own Iron Valiant, jumps out of his pokeball and blocks a blade that would have killed one of his compaions.[break][break]
Navy decides to help him. A fairy crown sits atop his head. Roland doubles down on his typing. His fae blade cuts through the foes like he’s carving a cake. Yet there’s always more. A whole army of them. Nowhere near as strong as the paradoxes caught by other trainers.[break][break]
“It weird to you that the interdream mist can mass produce this stuff?” Navy asks when they’re close enough for a quiet word in the midst of battle. He’s jumped down, standing with her in the eye of the hurricane while she rides Reiner.[break][break]
“I didn’t say to stop marching, dammit!” He cries to the men of the supply train around him.

She withholds those brisk words in favour of ducking under an Iron Valiant's blade, chucking one half of Jack right at the paradox as she barely manages to redirect another attempting to cut Reiner down. And the Doublade is faithful in his duty to protect her, a promise bequeathed upon her that will be seen through even if he isn't here.[break][break]

"Imagination and fear."[break][break]

Distracting his target with a Shadow Sneak, he'll guide himself and pierce right through the fairy's chest. And Reiner will busy himself with taking down the nearest ones, his roar echoing across the battlefield as he lets rip a Rising Voltage.[break][break]

"They shouldn't exist to begin with."

“Yeah, maybe.” His agreement is peppered with hints of discord. “But you gotta admit...they’re cool. Wish Roland didn’t have to pay the price he did to look like this.” For the barest hint of a moment, Roland’s robotic eyes look sad. Something behind those pixelated eyes possesses understanding. He knows that the price he paid was terrible indeed. Perhaps the ghost in the machine misses the feeling of flesh.[break][break]
One of his lesser brothers moves to circle Eris and Reiner. The shadow beneath its feet begins to bubble. Moments before it can raise its blade, Hattori emerges from the shadow. His kunai tears through the chassis, leaving it strewn across the floor. Kicking off in a trail of water and smoke, he sends more shuriken flying. He has style. Navy will give his shinobi that.[break][break]
Roland augments it with a tera blast. His blade rends the air. It traces a swath of pink energy across his brothers.[break][break]
“Same for that Great Tusk I just caught.” That creature rests in his PC, recovering from his injuries down in Dewford. Sadly, he will not be appearing today. Not until Navy can train him properly.

Much like the princess that still waits for her knight in the mechanical kingdom. If Navy dies- No, when he dies, what happens to Roland? Eternally bound to a body that won't age or rust...[break][break]

“Yeah…I try not to think about it.” Unknowingly, he agrees with her assessment. Disassociation is how soldiers and warriors get through these battles. Thinking deeply about what they’re doing will make them hesitate. A moment’s hesitation beckons a lifetime of pain and regret.[break][break]
“Aren’t you too young to be fighting with swords?” He teases, knowing they’re doublades. He little cares for the way those swords tend to try and wrap around the arms of their wielders. He prefers to let them float rather than afford them the opportunity to drain his life force.[break][break]
“Not that there’s anything wrong with it.” Hattori squats by Reiner. For a creature born of water, he seems to have little fear of the electric lion’s discharges. His hands remain a blur. Together, they assist their humans. Hattori watches Reiner’s back, knowing the bigger Pokemon affords him the same courtesy.[break][break]
“Ninja.” He says, giving Reiner a peace sign.

[attr="class","inner-finally"]Not thinking about it is a blessing at times but when she's given a moment to herself, it's what will come haunting her first. Still, she will not distract him with impossibly heavy topics in the moment, especially not when he decides to drop a little comment on Jack.[break][break]

"Isaac gave him to me."[break][break]

A knight to protect her, he had said. She knows that Navy will understand just how much that means to her. Ghosts may very well be the kind to leech off life wherever they can, but a pokemon raised in Isaac's care would never harm her out of ill intent. Sworn to their duty, they act when she cannot, pulling free of her grasp to parry a Leaf Blade and Retaliate in kind.[break][break]

On the other hand, Reiner grunts at Hattori's words. Despite how well he's adapted to combat, his main focus will always be on keeping Eris out of harm's way. With only the briefest of glances towards the Greninja, he'll slam a false knight backwards as a wave of petals burst from the mist, a Springtide Storm crashing into the backs of the unsuspecting paradoxes and knocking them prone.

Tugging on the metal chain that it's linked to, she watches as a curtain of silver forms overhead, gushing down like a waterfall as Mercury weighs them down with a Meltdown.[break][break]

And the Melmetal will split a small section of itself off, liquid steel splashing up onto Shuwen's fists and reinforcing every punch he takes.

Either way, he’s looking forward. Looking ahead with his burning heart and eyes shadowed by the hat atop his head. Shuwen is relentless in his punches. Even when the massive Iron Treads appears from the interdream mist, howling a robotic cry, he doesn’t stop.[break][break]
“Dreams are what make us human. Wouldn’t ever take that away from him.” There’s caveats left unsaid. Ideals would lead him to stop a dream he disagrees with. Were someone to wish for destruction, he would oppose that dream. Were Isaac to wish for something negligent, Navy would correct him.[break][break]
Truth be told, Navy hasn’t known Isaac Merlo that long. Even so, he has a supreme advocate for the man’s character. The Sheriff doesn’t brag nor make note of this, but he is no stranger to Suicune. Some shade of the legendary shadows Kyle. He has beheld its magnificence. He has born witness to its glory. It is a creature that makes him forget, if just for a moment, that to bond with a legendary is to drink from a cup of poison. For such a creature to bond with Isaac speaks of both his sincere desire to repent and his golden heart.[break][break]
With such an advocate speaking in his defense, Navy resolves to believe in that man’s dreams. Whatever comes, he will play his part to help the Liberator find peace. In the here and now, that means keeping Eris alive – and staying alive himself. Shuwen roars and punches, forcing the monster before him back into interdream mist blow by blow. The combined might of two legends is the stuff stories are made of.[break][break]

He throws out a Magnezone, one of his latest rescues from home. It’ll do him some good to get practice in with the creature. It scans the area, setting up a light screen to protect them all. It repels copious thunderbolts from Iron Valiants backing up their great war machine.

All she needs to do is make sure that nothing gets past them, and no one will be hurt.[break][break]

Stubbornness is what fuels the Iron Treads, and so too does it fuel Mercury. When it's not busy puncturing holes into the giant's body, it's slowly gathering itself into one big mound, swaying and bending over backwards before snapping right back with a heavy Headbutt. On the other hand, Eris grips tight to Reiner's shoulders, feeling the tingly sensation of electricity sparking in the air as the z-crystal on her belt shines bright.[break][break]

Thunder roars and shakes the ceiling above, lightning splitting the heavens and the earth as it crashes down on the multitudes of Iron Valiants present. In its wake, it leaves a gift, a coat of pure energy cloaking the Luxray as he rushes in with a thunderclap and flash. Streaks of electricity trail off his claws, enemies torn asunder with all but a glint of gold to mark their killer. And those who refuse to fall are met with an Aerial Ace, brought to their knees before their heads are crushed by underfoot.
