They follow her trail of destruction. By the time Tormund and Navy arrive at the high wall of the truck, the Iron Valiants are too worn down to fight. They cough, sputter, spark. Only the Magnemites have the energy to look up at them. Eris is somewhere far away, getting farther.[break][break]
“I’m sorry.” That’s all Navy can muster. He’s said those words too often, to too many people. They didn’t have to die.[break][break]
“For what’s gonna happen to you…should’ve been a better commander.” Reaching through the bars, he pets one of them. Feels their cold steel frame. It closes its eye.[break][break]
“But there’s someone else I’ve gotta save.”[break][break]
And he jumps. It’s a free fall to the ground, Tormund guiding his descent. He grows, the Pokemon stays the same size. By the time they hit the ground, he gets his bearings and regards the forest around them. Trees lay destroyed. It looks like a tank came through here.[break][break]
A tank..[break][break]
Or an Iron Treads.[break][break]
Far off through the woods, Navy hears the sound of battle. Shuwen slams his fist into the monster, shattering it. It falls down, on its last legs. It won’t take much more to kill it now.

Shuwen understands the man he follows. Battered, bloodied by this engagement, he understands Navy. They share no bond forged by a sync stone, but they don’t have to. Shuwen came from Navy, and Navy respects Shuwen.[break][break]
When the Urshifu inclines his head and sees Eris coming, he knows what’s coming. He sees the rage in her eyes, the same rage that takes Navy himself when he’s not careful. In her rage at Reiner’s assailant, she will hate him for this.[break][break]
Unlike Navy, he doesn’t mind. He can bear a little hate to save her soul. A protective barrier forms before him, a hair’s breadth away from being too late. If Shuwen didn’t understand what Navy’s intentions were, he wouldn’t be done in time. Shadows disperse against the shield. Standing tall, the bear shakes his head.[break][break]
Elsewhere, Navy runs through the woods, desperate to catch up.

“Shifu.” Shuwen rarely speaks. Standing between Eris and this creature limping on its last leg, he makes an exception. A clawed finger points at her pokeballs. Reiner still lives. He’s housed within one of those balls. A finger traces to the shadowy Togekiss and he shakes his head.[break][break]
Accompanying that, he shakes his head. There are right ways to do things. Proper ways. At this point, the creature is all but destined to die. It doesn’t deserve to die screaming in pain. Reaching inside its CPU, he jabs quick as a thunderbolt. It’s a cleaner death than the shadowy Togekiss would have given it.[break][break]
“Eris!” Finally, Navy’s there. Tormund, still oversized, is at his side. “You—you, you alright?” He struggles to catch his breath, seemingly oblivious to what has happened. Shuwen stands in silent contemplation, wondering what she will do now.

"Yeah... just." Pinching the bridge of her nose, she lets out the longest sigh, feeling the heart palpitations in her chest and waiting for them to subside. "Yeah."

Her eyes scare him. Everything about her does. He sees in that moment the child soldier that would make Rocket proud. Precious few children could kill the way she was prepared to kill. Not at her age. He supposes they have another thing in common, but that is a secret he will keep close to his heart.[break][break]
“Arceus, you had me worried.” Looking around, his eyes finally settle on Shuwen, who walks towards Eris. His great bear squats by her, going for her belt with an oil-slick finger. It presses to a pokeball, calling forth the person Eris really needs right now.[break][break]
Unless she resists, he calls Reiner for her. The bear thinks she needs to see that he’s alright. He needs her, she needs him. Pokemon and humans need one another. That’s what Shuwen heard once in a movie, anyway.

She lashes at Shuwen almost instinctively, poorly kept nails swiping across his paw when he dares to reach for Reiner's pokeball. But before she ever makes contact, there is resistance - A tail gently, but firmly wrapped against her arm.[break][break]

For a moment, part of her seeks to fight back. But the way she's tugged right into his sides and embraced is a potent antidote to her malice, the rise and fall of Reiner's chest allowing a steady heartbeat to surface, to thrum against her own skin.[break][break]

Breathe.

He can take a lash. He’s taken a lot worse in his short time walking the world. Since Navy and Shuwen found one another in the interdream mist, they’ve both fretted over this girl. With Reiner out of his ball, Shuwen takes a few steps back. He sits down near Navy, motioning for the sheriff to do the same.[break][break]
There they sit, in this dream of a dead Magnezone, a horrific memory brought to life. They sit and they try not to intrude. Eris needs time. Navy’s not sure how time works in this place, despite having been here more than most. He’ll trust that things will work themselves out.[break][break]
Eventually, the moment must pass. They’re on the clock. People are relying on them. Clearing his throat, Navy hopes the moments of silence were enough. Standing back up, he looks down at Eris.[break][break]
“You good to go? We gotta find a way out of here.” Looking around the forest, he notes how…real it all looks. Tall. Overgrown, but real. “Gotta make sure everyone’s alright.”
