The enormous blows caused the Tauros and Espeon to knock each other to unconsciousness, Josh withdrawing the psychic-type, as well. It was now a duel of the speedsters: Aslan and Rollin. It was Josh's element, but also Raju's element. A master of speed versus his best student. Both could metaphorically burn rubber in their own ways: the lion's claws gave him immense agility, as did the Cyclizar's air sacs. If there were two people in Mauville that could follow such fast action, they were Josh and Raju.

Aslan waited for Rollin to charge him. Were he to get his way, the lion would BOUNCE sky-high in an attempt to land in the Cyclizar's seat. The great cat's weight, if all went according to plan, could induce a spin-out and pin him down. It was a risky move, but one that could come with great rewards!

Aslan instead pounced upon Rollin's SHED TAIL, tearing through it with little trouble. The battle between them would be one of speed, and while Aslan may have been faster, he knew the raw stamina Cyclizar had. If this battle went too long, the dragon would eventually bury his treads in the golden lion.

Josh couldn't have that.

"HYPER VOICE!" he ordered. The big cat inhaled deeply before bellowing an almost tangible war cry that turned the heads of almost every Pokémon on site toward the Main Sector. Josh's Pyroar pride had become another thing that defined Mauville: the reverberating cries of the boisterous Pokémon was another thing its citizens took pride in: a sign that the densely-populated city was safe.

The quick command to use ICE SPINNER made Josh smile; Raju had developed amazing reaction time during his tenure with the Racing Grounds. No ordinary trainer would have been able to get that off through one of the loudest roars any Pokémon could sound. While the ice shards themselves quickly melted in the lion's presence, the sheer torque enabled their edges to cut into the fire-type's skin: a nasty CRITICAL HIT that even a type advantage would not allow it to ignore.

Though powerful, Aslan's HYPER VOICE had its own cooldown, the lion's lungs feeling like they were on fire after being abused so much. Before he could let loose another roar, he would have to flex his other muscles. Leaping and BOUNCING skyward, the golden king of the Gym Leader's pride sought to pounce Rollin from above, this time aiming to land on him and cause him to wipe out completely. Just because they had great balance at speed didn't mean they weren't immune to a spin-out!
