Sent out to survey more of the outer edges of the shoreline of the beach, Yuina had to wonder if it was a good idea for her to go out by herself... That was the assignment she was given, did that mean that they thought she was doing good work? Or that she was expendable...? She didn't feel like she'd been doing anything worth while in this entire escapade, sure she'd run off a couple of grunt rockets and helped some of her fellow reps on the mainland, but she didn't feel like she'd really accomplished anything on this war front, save for lining out a new set of fears, insecurities, and understandings that... She really was out of her league with all of this...
Yuina walked along the sandy beaches with Ruma the Camerupt and Nimbus the Raichu to keep watch, figuring that she could go another mile or so before turning back to head for the encampment she'd come from.

The seaweed washing upon the coast stirred faintly, as if caught in an ill wind. One slimy strand of algae slithered towards the woman and her Pokemon on the sands, seeking to grab it like a grasping hand into the dark sea.[break][break]

"All alone? Bold of you." a feminine voice taunted from the shadows, creeping in with the sea breeze. Standing in the darkness, a woman emerged from a submarine that crested the ocean's surface, the look in her eyes flashing with cruelty and determination. "A Ranger, I'm guessing? Well. No matter."[break][break]

A peculiarly colored OVERQWIL emerged from the waves, shooting forth SPIKES that threatened the path of the Pokemon visible on the sand. Behind it, a NIHILEGO bobbed in mid-air, preparing a ROCK TOMB to prevent the trainer from escaping too easily.[break][break]

"You've encroached on Rocket territory," she continued, making her way leisurely to shore. "I'm afraid I'll have to punish you for that. Unless you're willing to surrender now?"

Pondering things as she listened to her foot steps in the wet sand, for better or for worse Yuina felt like she had learned a lot of things being on this island, in the middle of all of this war, and having to work so hard just to... not die. She was still covered in bruises for the most part, her leg from getting slashed by that Seviper was scabbed over and tender, stray burn marks shown on her arms, and every so often a deep breath hurt her ribs, but she was here still. It was a lot to take on and realize all at once, but if anything, she had a new confidence after finding Desiree in this place, knowing how much faith that she had for her, how unwavering her confidence was in Yuina's good...[break]
A bit lost in thought, Yuina didn't quite notice the slithering seaweed on the ground, until Nimbus sparked with electricity and Ruma harumphed and stomped in the sand, but it was too late. She gasped as she felt something cling to and snatch her ankle, though she didn't feel a pull back yet. Instead, she was faced with a woman sneering at her coming up from a subarmine, a Pokemon that showered the beach in spikes and... One of those jellyfish? From... She didn't even know you could capture those things...[break][break]
Yuina was panicked, she could have imagined that she would cross a rocket coming this far up the beach but...[break][break]
She was still here, in spite of everything so far...[break][break]
"No, it won't be that easy," Yuina breathed, she still couldn't know how a tangle of seaweed had ensnared her ankle, but this had only just started, she wasn't going to surrender already. Nimbus sparked beside her and surged with electricity, and immediately the beach was alight with Electric Terrain surging over the sand. The Raichu huffed and with his new found speed, raced out over the water and released a Thunderbolt over the water to target the strange spiky fish the woman had in the water with her.[break]
In the moment that Nimbus raced out to initiate battle, Yuina darted around and found a sharp rock on the sand, starting to hack at the seaweed that ensnared her ankle. Best case scenario, she could get out of here.

The enemy Raichu danced across the ELECTRIC TERRAIN with devastating speed, colliding into the OVERQWIL with a THUNDERBOLT that sizzled against the waves. All around them, the world seemed to spark with lightning, igniting water a startling gold color.[break][break]

Elisabeth evaded the worst of the residual damage with a shield of seaweed that rose up from the water in answer to her call. A click of her tongue signified her displeasure. "The hard way it is."[break][break]

A malevolent PSYCHIC force began to telekinetically push against the RAICHU, exuded from her NIHILEGO's luminous silhouette as it sought to create space between its ally and its attacker.[break][break]

While the OVERQWIL recovered itself, it sneered as it INTIMIDATED its opponent and spat back with a BARB BARRAGE.[break][break]

Out of the corner of her eye, Elisabeth spared a glance at the Camerupt and its trainer on the shore, then let a small smirk tug on her lips.[break][break]

With a flick of her wrist, the seaweed gathered around Yuina's ankle suddenly pulled.

With the surface of the ocean dancing with sparks and streaks of electricity, Nimbus was charged and poised, and filled to the brim with energetic speed. The Raichu stumbled and struggled a bit as a force of energy started to push back against him over the water, the jellyfish pushing back with telekinetic power, and as he was being pushed the fish in the water started to fire off poisonous barbs at him.[break][break]
The Raichu was quick though, ducking down closer to the water and skirting over the surface, gaining speed and momentum as he narrowly tried to avoid the barbs that were just behind him. He took a wide turn up and into the air, giving himself plenty of room between him and the jellyfish in an attempt to skirt around the psychic perimeter it was trying to force on him, and in a blinding light Nimbus was enveloped in electricity. The Raichu rushed forward, streaking through the air like a lightning bolt himself, aiming to strike the Jellyfish head on.[break][break]
On the beach, Yuina was trying to hack away at the seaweed that enveloped her ankle, she had to make sure she could get away if Nimbus' brilliant attack gave them the opportunity. She tugged and twisted with the sharp rock in her hand, but just as she might have thought she could get free... it pulled...[break]
Yuina shrieked, she was pulled off balance and was now being drug across the sand, into the wet sand, and would soon be drug into the ocean itself. She screamed, and struggled, trying to grab onto anything when Ruma rushed forward and stomped on the trail of seaweed, using her weight to stop it's pull. The fire type bellowed, and from her back released a volcano of lava that shot through the air, aiming for the figures in the water.

When the Raichu collided with the Ultra Beast, it defensively summoned an IRON HEAD to blunt against the incoming blow. However, as electricity conducted against the metallic sheen, the Nihilego dizzily stumbled back in PARALYSIS from the impact.[break][break]

This kept it distracted when the Camerupt entered the field of battle, unleashing a rush of lava towards Elisabeth and her Overqwil.[break][break]

The Water-type kicked up an AQUA TAIL to diffuse the molten flames, while Elisabeth lost her hold on the seaweed as she dove underneath the waves for a moment to defend herself.[break][break]

What proved to be a defensive round for the underboss would give the trainer on the shore an opportunity to prepare to retaliate, or to flee, depending on her priorities.

The two Pokemon clashed over the water, and while the jellyfish showed signs of electricity crackling and streaking over its translucent body, Nimbus too reeled back at having hit an Iron Head straight on. The Raichu wavered, falling back on his tail, but the dancing sparks along the water still helped him maintain his energy, stumbling back onto his feet on his tail.[break][break]
Drug along the beach, heaving in the sand that had slumped around her, Yuina could feel the water at her legs and her knees, understanding how close she had come before Ruma stomped on the seaweed that was dragging her away. As her lava and flames shot through the air, Yuina felt the hold on her ankle give, and she was quick to pull her ankle back and scramble through the sand to get away from the water.[break]
She stumbled again though, gritting her teeth, the salt that coated the seaweed and the force at which it pulled her back, her ankle and shin were scratched almost entirely raw, bright red with small streaks of blood starting to show. Her leg stung, there was no reprieve from the sand that scratched at her further as she knelt there on the beach, and while she still had no idea what was actually controlling the seaweed from the depths, Yuina knew that she couldn't stick around to find out. It wasn't worth it, not by herself...[break][break]
"Nimbus, we have to go," Yuina called, it seemed like the only opportunity she could get as the woman disappeared into the water in the submarine, and the Raichu surged with electricity again as he rushed past the Jellyfish with a Thunderbolt. Leaned up against Ruma, Yuina started to move down the beach as Nimbus moved back over the water, they had to try and get out while they could...

Elisabeth burst through the waves again, breathing in the fresh night air as a THUNDERBOLT struck her Nihilego. It waved uncertainly to and fro, still dizzied by the PARALYSIS, while her Overqwil focused itself on other matters.[break][break]

Such as their rapidly fleeing prey.[break][break]

A BARB BARRAGE chased after the trainer and her Camerupt, followed by the reanimated seaweed snaking across the sand to grab for the woman who had escaped its hold.[break][break]

If it couldn't seize her, it would settle for her Pokemon, instead.

It... It all happened so fast...[break]
Stumbling along the sand, gritting her teeth at her raw ankle and the sand scratching against it, Yuina was trying to run with Ruma along the beach as Nimbus raced back across the water. While the Jellyfish reeled with paralysis, the giant fish fired off towards the beach with its spines. The Raichu ducked into the path of the assault, taking the full force of the blow, and as Yuina rushed to him, trying to get out his Pokeball, she only heard Ruma huff and bellow at being drug along the sand... and into the water... And then...[break][break]
It was too late... Yuina felt her chest clench, her eyes stinging... She... There was nothing she could do... And she couldn't try to do anything more unless she wanted more of her Pokemon to...[break]
With what little opportunity Yuina had, she released Rasza and took off into the air as fast as the dragon's wings could carry them, it wasn't worth the risk, it wasn't worth... Loosing another one...
