Kamuy's strength enabled him to fling the smaller Eeveelution off, though much of his speed had been sapped by the internal frost spreading from the marks on his back and down his front legs. It made the dark-type more sluggish to react. Josh was prepared for this. Rather than try to evade the ramming and trampling attack, he would simply order Kamuy to brace himself for impact. "Kamuy, MOONLIGHT!"

The Eeveelution's yellow rings glowed with the reflected light of the nightly lunar body, sealing shut the ICE FANG wounds on his back. With the battle taking place in a cloudless sky in the middle of the day, its healing potency remained limited. That limitation would serve to be Kamuy's downfall, the Glaceon sensing which of his four legs were coldest and lunging toward it. The critical hit would secure a win for Noel as long as the Glaceon remained standing after the reckless TAKE DOWN.

With its already hurt body, the charge had taken more of an effect on the Glaceon than it had anticipated. Recoiling off from the body of the monstrous Umbreon, Noel's Pokemon manages to stay somewhat steady back on its legs. Yet the more time it stayed stood up, the more the pain seeped throughout its body like a sharp knife. Not wanting to worry its trainer, it would toughen out and attempt to ignore all the warnings their mind was giving to its body. Even with one of its legs struggling not to give way.[break][break]

However, Josh's Pokemon giant frame could assuredly take more blows than his own. While they gave it their all, there weren't many options left for the challenging duo. As they both watched the Umbreon fumble around as if in a disoriented state, their hopes were rising for the opportunity of this battle ending.[break][break]

Noel's hopes would have reason to rise: the squinting Umbreon struggled to get to his feet. With the grit of a hero, he supported himself on all four paws. Knowing he was on borrowed time, the dark-type crouched, flexing his legs in preparation for a final QUICK ATTACK pounce that Josh expected to be match-ending.

That final attack never came.

Unable to maintain his balance in his dizziness, the Eeveelution tumbled backwards. The side judge raised a red flag, declaring Kamuy unable to continue the match and Noel the winner. "You're an impressive combatant. Kamuy is one of the strongest among his seven brothers and sisters." He, of course, was referencing the other Eeveelutions roaming his Gym, each of them big enough to bear a human rider on their backs as well. "That your Glaceon had the strength to not be sent flying is a testament to how strong the bond is between you two. Not gonna lie, that tactic caught me a little off guard. Such a bond will see you far in the Pokémon League."

Josh presented a closed fist at Noel's chest level, then opened it up to reveal a well-earned reward. "Noel, you've earned this. It is the official Hoenn League Quick Badge. Wear it with pride. This Gym has a history of being run by some of the toughest and most successful Leaders in Hoenn. Never forget that."

With the outcome of the match decided and the judge bring it all to a close, the Glaceon crumples down onto the floor, completely exhausted from today's events as it had worked harder than it ever has before. For the time begin it would lay down with its legs splayed across the floor, taking a well-deserved rest.[break][break]

Receiving the gym badge from Josh, Noel holds it in his hand and gazes deeply onto it, another piece of proof that he was able to rise to the occasion and prove himself to the League. He wondered if they were all going to be as difficult as the two he's done now. But he preferred it this way, rather a hard-earned victory than an easy one. Placing the badge into his case and tucking it back into his bag, a smile flashes on his face as he gives a nod to Josh.[break][break]

"Thanks Josh, I'm glad to have fought you today. You really had me worried there for a good while, didn't think I'd pull through. But hey, that just made it more exciting, heh. Hopefully we can do this again someday. As friends, without any of this gym business to worry about."[break][break]
