CONTRARY TO ITS NAME, THE MAJORITY OF THE ULTRA DEEP SEA IS A VAST CAVE-LIKE WORLD. Shafts of light from an unknown source barely penetrate the dark, causing colorful diamond-like rocks to glisten against humid walls. The dim lighting makes the place seem like you're thousands of leagues under the sea... Eerily, an unceasing pulse can be heard like a heart beat that rumbles throughout the realm.[break][break]

Oddly enough, one is able to "swim" through this realm like Water-type Pokemon floating in air.[break][break]

One may stumble upon deep, cold pools of dark water and alien seaweed as they scout out the realm. Segments of this place open up into an astral sea, where islands of mysterious stone are suspended mid-air.

It is in this realm wherein dream lie. The sea has washed you away on the current, taken you out on the tides now to the end of all things, where wakefulness and dreaming are indistinguishable.[break][break]

The organ pulses with an energy that is familiar at this point. It is the brimming organ that lie beneath Galar, the same that lie at the end of every incursion into the Ultra Deep Sea to Extract resources. Tsubaki knows it intimately. The only difference is in its size, magnitudes larger than any time she's seen it before. If the others could be called nerves or connective tissue, this might be the heart, or the brain, or some analogous structure.[break][break]

"You shouldn't be here..."[break][break]

She answers, though she has no need to look in the direction of the intruder. This is a sacred place, a place that does not abide trespass on hallowed grounds. The organ reacts in his midst, and she knows she is not alone.[break][break]

Scalpels sliced through flesh. Sinew and fat pulled from the wall in thick globs of leaking red, the wall tight and stringy as it broke into smaller pieces.[break][break]

Samples. Sciences. The stink of the inside of this place burned the eyes, burned the nostrils.[break][break]

An organ, blinding and bright, but Tempest keeps his back to it the best he can. He tries to ignore even as darkness wriggles at the edges of his vision. Blinding and overwhelming.[break][break]

Tight, sharp breaths.[break][break]

Then familiar.[break][break]

He can't turn to look at her, It hurts to look a the light.[break][break]

"You gunna try and stop me?" A mirror of Tsubaki's own hand, reaching for his hip.[break][break]

At the terminal point of space and time, that she should find this man... she's thankful she can't look him in the eyes right now, blinded by this artificial sun. Just as it's painful looking at a mirror, she hates everything he stands for. [break][break]

Still, a hint of sadness lingers in her voice.[break][break]

"Suppose I don't have any other choice, do I?"[break][break]

The fact that it's not Navy who's meeting her here... [break][break]

The sound of two balls, and she picks two of her own. A matching pair. Sakura and Momiji, spring and fall, the cycle of the seasons, the marching forward of time. Birth and death. [break][break]

"I'll give you a show, don't worry!"[break][break]

The two Toxtricity erupt bathed in light, and they shine like beacons. Strumming a few introductory riffs, dragging claws violently along their chests and belting out aggressive screams, their tongues hang out of their mouths as they round on the two opposing pokemon.[break][break]

"Sakura, prepare the ground! Momiji, pump up the crowd!"[break][break]

The organ pulses overhead like a spotlight. The two punk pokemon revel in it, growing larger and larger as they feed on the dynergy. [break][break]

Electric energy pours from Sakura's body, slamming a guitar-shaped lightning bolt into the ground and generating electric terrain, while Momiji strums her own lightning bolt and causes the whole cavern to shake, readying herself to shift gears.[break][break]

"Alright then! C'mon! Show me the fight you promised me!"[break][break]

An outpouring of the Dynery soaked into flesh and bone. Expansion prevailed; Compass and Icecube soon towering high in the cramped space of the meat caverns they all stood.[break][break]

Compass shook herself, walls of shimmering psychic glass Reflecting the light of the organ. A shining disco ball to join the cacophony about the erupt in the space around them.[break][break]

Icecube shook himself off and braced, tail lashing as a pink force circled his body. Soon, the mirror image ghost of Momiji shifts around him, a Copycat of the Gear Shift boosting his own stats. The Glaceon snarled, baring sharp teeth in warning at the two Toxtricity.[break][break]

Tempest closed his eyes and turns to 'face' Hyakkaryōran Tsubaki.[break][break]

"This isn't like last time, Tsubaki. I'll kill you if I get the chance."[break][break]

There was a thrill in his voice, though.[break][break]

"Don't disappoint me."[break][break]

Only a few people were worthy of Tempest's kind of death, after all.

She snarls back, the venom in her voice amplified by a sickening pain in her guts. The poison's already taking its toll, but she doesn't show it. There's work to be done.[break][break]

To be bathed in light, in attention that's so intense that it burns, to reveal her heart in front of an impassive God and a killer, she couldn't ask for a better opportunity. This was a far cry from the rehearsals in Navy's garage, but all the same, it felt right. [break][break]

"Sakura! Momiji!"[break][break]

They knew the command instantly. Eyes on her. [break][break]

"One, two, three..."[break][break]

Four.[break][break]

Both Toxtricity time their downswing in sync with one another, strumming on lightning bolts fashioned into crude guitars. The resulting dual boomburst is more than just deafening, it's a destructive wave that blows apart everything in its path. The edges of reality seem to fray in response with the outpouring of Dynergy, the entire world cowed by their display of rebellion.[break][break]

Already half blind, Tempest snarls and hunches over to cover his ears as the deafening Boomburst echoes in the enclosed space. It's like a heartbeat, except worse; the organ shakes from the movement, a fever pitch.[break][break]

Compass and Icecube are much the same, cringing from the noise, but the two of them lunge forward regardless.[break][break]

Psychic Fangs attempt to clamp down with powerful force against the female of the punk rock duo, Compass' hooves beating in time with reality's warping. Icecube follows on her heel, the massive fox snarling before an ocean of black ice spills from his jaws from his Shadow Chill.[break][break]

"Compass, keep pushing!" Hyakkaryōran Tsubaki would hear it. Hell, if she could see, she would see it. How the world glitches. Tempest's voice cracks halfway through, a echoed repeat like a skipping record, pitching high and childlike. Body shrinks.[break][break]

He notices nothing.[break][break]

A glitched out eight year old with the mind of a man.[break][break]

"Kill them!" He cries, over the deluge of music, childish from missing teeth.[break][break]

His body covered in hazy lines before flickering back to adult for a moment. An overlaid image.

[attr="class","star2tsu2"]The cacophony threatens to wake a sleeping god. Organs pulse in rhythm, channels of blood pump with every beat. The driving song speaks of rebellion, of life in the face of Death, the great Skeleton itself. It's only in moments like these, when her heart is pumping, when she's screaming out her screaming lyrics lost to the din, that she still feels alive.[break][break]

Sakura falters as psycho fangs bite into flesh. Poison sweat beats off her brow, and she smashes her axe into the Firigaraf's face to let the rising voltage take care of the rest. Electric terrain pours into the palindrome with the guitar as the conduit, while she belts out a screech of pain in sync with Tsubaki.[break][break]

Momiji's frost-bitten fingers shred against his guitar, in defiance of the encroaching chill. The noise of wicked feedback arcs toward the glaceon, tearing open reality with the strum of a power chord. [break][break]

A dead future unfurls all around them, a ruined Galar of a long-forgotten dream. Destroyed though Motostoke may be, an older Tsubaki glares holes through the wounded child in front of her, paying no mind to the change of the battlefield. All her focus is on the battle.[break][break]

"Hard to imagine, you as a kid!"[break][break]

Everyone's got their origin story, started from somewhere. [break][break]

"Wonder, what happened to make you like this? Or were you doomed from the start?"[break][break]

Like her.[break][break]

The falling petals of sakura. The falling leaves of momiji. The cycle of life and death. Like the waves crashing in on the shore, they beat against entropy, despite the undertow that pulls them desperately toward the abyss. [break][break]

Heavy metal cracks against Compass' face, wood chipping and strings snapping from the crunch of violence. A gash on her snout opens, making the giraffe pokemon shriek out in rage. Glowering at the Toxtricity, she snaps forward to try and Thief the offending instrument away, to toss it's worthless husk into the ocean of poison waiting for them all.[break][break]

Chunks of sharpened ice form from the air, hovering in a cruel halo around Icecube. The Glaceon keeps his distance, darting to and fro with massive steps. The shards shoot out with speed, aiming to stab and main. Glacial daggers to mimic the Icicle Paradox.[break][break]

Reality shreds itself around them. A child's hand forms into a shaking fist, snarling anger not meant to reflect on innocent face. A war of realities mix. The storm of Tempest's past builds and encroaches on Hyakkaryōran Tsubaki's ruined future. Water pours from pores and floods down Galarian streets, washing away grit and filth. Washing away life. The shadow of a girl long past stands behind Tempest, her eyes bland as she watches the scene.[break][break]

The sound of Sakura's thunder is stolen, but she grasps at her own chest as if ripping out her beating heart and strums the organs with raking claws. A boomburst of wicked sound hits the palindrome like a wall all the same, come from the soul rather than a mere instrument. [break][break]

Momiji's thick skin is pierced by a thousand wicked shards, and he screeches loudly. Closing the distance, sludge-blood that sets air itself aflame pours down like a wave around the Glaceon as he rushes to take a bite out of the shadow's throat.[break][break]

Among it all the woman watches the boy, indifferent. Buildings crushed, people swept up by the clash of giants, it all means nothing. They are nothing. Their suffering is at an end. They should be thankful. [break][break]

"My past was drowned in the sea." Childish voice from childish lips. Tempest clutches at his chest. The ghost behind him flicks it's attention up to Hyakkaryōran Tsubaki. Watches with a coiled interest as the two worlds fall to ruin around them. A burning building creaks and groans before falling over, the pouring rain making the flames hiss and steam with every drop.[break][break]

Brown eyes flick over to meet the purple.[break][break]

"I don't want this."[break][break]

Clutching his chest even tighter, Tempest hunches his shoulders. Tears his gaze away as if in shame.[break][break]

The fury of the raging storm freezes. A snapshot rather than a lived truth.[break][break]

Ghost hands wrap around his throat, squeezing. The shadow of a noose hangs behind him. A body, his body, sways lifeless with the fires.[break][break]

Reality flickers again. Darkness grows like a fungus from around Tempest's feet. It spreads, thick and inky, a yawning echo of emptiness and doubt. It aches and throbs as it engulfs both of their memories, a shadowed echo of the scene. Only the eyes remain, boring into the two of them as it watches.[break][break]

Maybe they didn't understand each other as much and he and Hyakkaryōran Tsubaki thought.[break][break]

Or maybe they were more similar than before.[break][break]

But he hadn't seen behind him, only stared forward at her.[break][break]

Tempest and his pokemon suddenly sink into the darkness, shock showing on their faces for a moment. But they're gone.[break][break]

Reality glitches one again and it's normal. Normal as whatever this place could be.[break][break]

But elsewhere, just outside of the cavern, Tempest kneels down to vomit.

"Drowned, and you've already come up for air? Don't look away now! Drink deeper, to the bottom of the abyss! There you'll find it: the answer to Everything!"[break][break]

Deeper, til that abyss subsumes everything. Til all the things you've done finally make sense. [break][break]

The Sea breathes and reality shudders. A million eyes gaze out toward a million worlds. All of them, drowned in sorrow. Filled to the brim with such overflowing pain. If only She could save them. Return them to the womb, where everything was beautiful and nothing hurt. Then, they might be saved.[break][break]

Tsubaki scowls. Then, as she turns away, her shoulders begin to heave. She gazes back to the disappearing boy. [break][break]
