…is they find themselves sprawled out on the ground outside the dungeon. A clear flag rests above both their heads. The task is done for they day. They helped each other reach the finish line. Navy’s beaten up. Tsubaki too. No one comes out of a boss battle unscathed. Navy lost track of how many times he died in there.[break][break
“Yo, Baki. Word to the wise.” Stumbling up, he reaches for his breast pocket. Too late he remembers he has no breast pocket – not while he’s in this game. “Don’t have a god as your favorite Pokemon.”[break][break]
Rayquaza beat him up and down the boss chamber. It’s disconcerting to know he still holds that opinion – that the great emerald dragon remains his favorite, deep down in his heart of hearts.[break][break]
Only…Rayquaza looked kind of weird. Just glitches, probably. Flashes of emerald scales turning other colors. Cyan, chartreuse, scarlet, violet, black. Video games can get weird.[break][break]
“Let’s get out of here. I wanna wake up soon. Arceus…can’t even remember if I’m in Dewford or Lilycove tonight.”

"What, Rayquaza again?"[break][break]

The memory of her own battle resurfacing all those old traumas is fresh in her mind. How fitting, for a dark version of the hero to face the most heroic pokemon she's ever known, like a mirror of its dark side. Usually it's the shadow that's the bad guy, though, in stories like this. [break][break]

Was she the bad guy?[break][break]

Almost certainly.[break][break]

"That dragon must've really knocked you on the head. I'm house-sitting for you while you're outta town, remember?"[break][break]

The journey between Evergrande and Dewford wasn't long on Shion's back. Coming back home on her weekends off meant the town would have an acting sheriff while Navy attended to more important things around the region. [break][break]

Voyager needed to be fed every four hours, after all. And it left Baki all that extra time to do important things, like play video games.[break][break]
