Maybe it was all the wear and tear that he was still feeling from all the recent fighting that Noel felt as if he wanted to escape somewhere that no one would find him. Having remembered of the shrine from when he was younger, he never deemed it right to ever visit as a young boy. Perhaps it was the thought of death and suffering that scared him back then, but now things were different. Those thoughts back then seemed to be a reality now, something he unfortunately had to deal with on those islands.[break][break]

On the way ahead, he took note of the decaying status of the shrine. The vandalized markings on the walls annoyed him greatly. What kind of person would think this was fine? If he had known of this before, cleaning this entire mess up would have been one of his goals today.[break][break]

He approached the shrine, taking a deep breath and closing his eyes, offering a moment of silence to the departed. Both to those lost in this historic battle, and to those he lost in that terrible war. After finishing up his prayer, he takes a few steps towards the cliffside. Admiring the sunset and the roar of waves which created this ambiance of serenity, he felt more at peace with himself and his surroundings. Nothing could ruin this moment for him.

Taking his time to absorb just everything around him as he left himself in a deep, trance-like state, he simply stands there watching nature around him unfold. As the night sky began to emerge, he figured it was probably around now is when he should return for a night's long rest. That's when he hears the sound of footsteps approaching his way.[break][break]

"Hmm? Is someone there?"[break][break]

Turning to face the direction of the noise, it was much too dark to make out anything in his view. With no man-made lights made for this area, he would have to rely on just his eyes alone. Having no reason to doubt his safety however, he leaves his guard wide open, unknowing of who would appear before him.

In the lonely, almost never-ending darkness, all Noel could make out was the white of someone's eyes just staring endlessly at him. The whole situation unnerved him, his whole body tensed up knowing that something was wrong, even if he didn't know what. Before he could question the entity, he's met with crystallized weapons, all aiming to tear him apart.[break][break]

Not expecting the confrontation, he's only able to dodge clumsily away from the attacks. Jumping away to the side, he'd land roughly onto the dirt ground, quickly rising back up to his feet to face his new foe. However, a multitude of the scythe-like appendages managed to cut their way across Noel's body, ripping along his clothes, causing his arms and chest to ooze out blood. It stung like hell but this was no time to worry, he'd summon out his Hisuian Goodra out right in front of him as a defensive measure and call out to the void.[break][break]

"Who are you? Show yourself!"[break][break]

He would get himself ready for a fight. Whatever this was, they were more than likely in no mood to talk and wanted him dead for whatever reason. One of Rocket's underlings? Or perhaps this was something far worse.

With no response coming from the beast, it was clear to him that they were not here to talk whatsoever. He had no clue what this thing was, but they wanted Noel dead and gone, yet he wouldn't go down without a fight. Running from cover to cover, he would wind up behind the stone memorial which was big enough to keep him from harm from the time being. The black and hardened crystals whipped at the rock over and over again, chipping away at it, causing it to lose bits and pieces of itself over time. If he couldn't find some way to gain the upper hand, he wouldn't last any longer. He would have to rely on his Pokemon for help for the time being.[break][break]

All meanwhile his Hisuian Goodra is taken by surprise from the sneak attack coming from the opponent's Gengar. The force of the move causing it to slide back on its feet, knocking it away a short distance. Shaking away the pain, the steel dragon harnesses a beam of draconic energy in its mouth, firing away into the darkness, hoping to land a Dragon Pulse onto its foe. The mix of darkness and the earlier attack caused its aim to become unsteady, blindly shooting into the unknown, hoping to land anything at all.

Caught off-guard by the Gengar's move, the Hisuian Goodra is pelted by unseen forces, causing it to collapse onto the ground knocked out and unable to continue on any longer.[break][break]

The sound of rock being pulled apart could be heard behind him, with his back leaning against the stone texture, he suddenly no longer feels its rough touch. He looks up to see the shrine now towering above him, threatening to flatten him if he was unable to get out of the way. Leaping over what was once his cover, he rolls across the ground, ending up right next to his Pokemon who laid defeated on the floor. A loud crash was heard where he once stood, with nothing but a pile of stones left remaining of the memorial. Noel grits his teeth, this foe was perhaps too much for him, he was dealing with a force he didn't know how to handle and so was left with but one option. Retreat.[break][break]

Returning his Pokemon back to its ball, he would bring out another, this time a Milotic, with the intent of escape in its mind. Its eyes began to glow a slight red before summoning up a white Mist that began to cover the area. His foe could clearly see through this pitch black and was able to pinpoint directly where he and his Pokemon were, hopefully this fog would be able to mask his movements. Bringing back his Milotic, Noel, reluctant to do so, starts to flee from the battle, running away from where he last saw those glowing white eyes that seemed to signal his oncoming demise.[break][break]

This was something he could not hope to fight without acquiring more knowledge on what it was. Even though this would hurt his pride, living another day was more important than dying to the unknown.
