Coming from a simulation, his compliments may seem empty but she still nods. If he wishes to challenge her 'gym', she'd never turn the request down.[break][break]

Provided that the imaginary gym even lasts. Tera crystals are objects that they have yet to fully understand the property of. When it begins to glow, a part of her freezes up, uncertain of just how to react. A disgusting energy gushes outwards, forcing her skin to prickle as Navy pulls her in. And though her vision is mostly obscured, she can see the tints of purple that hug his outline.[break][break]

A power spot has emerged -[break][break]

Before she can even make a peep, the world abruptly shifts, colours snapping into place as roars of pokemon and human fill her ears. From her position, she can only afford to look up, her eyes widening as they rest upon the foul dragon weaving through the stars and the clouds.[break][break]

This scene is one of fantasy. Dynamaxed Pokemon walk the earth. They bring forth destruction of every make and mark man’s mind can conjure. Meteors rain down. Tsunamis wash over the sea. Blades drop line rain upon soldiers desperate to hold the line.[break][break]
And worse yet, Eternatus sees them. Somehow, amidst this devastation, the skeleton turns its eyes upon them. He feels seen, as he has only felt during his expeditions to the far reaches of the dragon’s innards. Power gathers in its maw. With that power, he means to destroy them.[break][break]
A pokeball is thrown. From it emerges a blade of light. Dragonslayer is well named for this day. As the dragon readies to destroy them, the sword holds aloft its shield. Z-energy surges from the shield. Dragonslayer will pull them through this, for he has no other choice. Using a power mankind simply did not have in the days when myth was fact, he erects a massive shield of light.[break][break]
It buys them moments, moments with which he rushes for the shield. Perhaps it would be wiser to draw the sword, but he’s never been partial to them. He’d rather fight with his fists. Wrenching the shield free, stone splinters. Cracks. Breaks.[break][break]
A high, mournful how splits the air. It is the same cry from Galar, a cry that echoed the final battle beneath a poisoned moon.[break][break]
Navy may not be a hero, but Zamazenta is one.

When Navy moves, she is still frozen to the spot, unable to take her eyes off the skeletal being. Hoenn changes you, Navy just mentioned it mere minutes ago. And yet, why isn't she able to move with as much conviction as he does?[break][break]

A flash of red, a steadfast presence by her side. He is her anchor, his warmth is her own. Where she hesitates, he pushes her to take that step.[break][break]

Fighting isn't all that they can do, all that they need to do. As Zamazenta breaks free of his stony prison, she looks to the people that are scattered by the rampaging pokemon.[break][break]

Think, feel, act.[break][break]

There's only one thing left to do. Clambering atop Reiner, she urges him to run in, sweeping past a young child and scooping them onto the Luxray before beginning their retreat.

The hero looks down at the sheriff. He gently beckons for the shield. It belongs to him. It’s simply not right to hoard someone’s weapon. Without much time to think, Navy chucks the shield at Zamazenta. Catching it, the pokemon is consumed by a glowing light. Metal shoots like stars across to him.[break][break]
When he emerges, he is crowned. Zamazenta is adorned with a hero’s shield. Howling in defiance of the skeletal dragon, he follows after Eris. Navy follows suit.[break][break]
Towering above them all is a Blastoise. It seems less a Blastoise and more a mobile artillery port. A blast from the cannons levels homes. Zamazenta intercedes on behalf of the people, taking the hit for them. That, as Navy sees it, is the duty of the mighty: to weather blows for those who cannot – to attack for those without the strength to strike.[break][break]
“Come on, Eris! Get ‘em to the forest.” He waves at the trees on the far edge of the field. They’ll be safer in there. “We’ll cover you.” Dragonslayer’s spotlight shines on Zamazenta. It forces the attention of all attackers on the hero of many battles.[break][break]
“We’ll get through this.” Mounting up on Thin Lizzy, he follows after Reiner and his trainer.

"Close your eyes." She murmurs, pulling them closer as she tries to cover their ears. When Navy calls their next move, Reiner makes a run for it, dancing across the field of sludge and spikes as Zamazenta does his best to cover their flank. Lightning crashes against stray debris, slicing hurled rocks into smaller pieces that harmlessly spray against them.[break][break]

A few dozen yards and they’re all in the clear. Away from the battlefield. The shield will have done its job, leaving room for a sword to strike. A shield and sword are tools meant to be used in tandem with one another.[break][break]
Almost there might as well be not there yet.[break][break]
A beast out of nightmare descends. It is a Charizard of enormous size, paired with the Blastoise doling out artillery fire down upon them. Its wings are the stuff of legends. Flapping on pure fire, it lands and looks down upon them with a snide, almost uncaring countenance.[break][break]
Fire gathers in its maw. Fire that will destroy them all. Fire that will burn the forest and all those within to the ground. Fire, the primordial gift given to mankind in the long-ago, threatens to kill them all.[break][break]
A hero and one that might be a hero stand before the fire.[break][break]
“Get ‘em out of here, Eris. Whether I take Goode’s offer or not, I’m still gonna do all kinds of dumb, reckless stuff. Got to, to keep people safe.” Zamazenta growls his agreement to the human’s words. Energy gathers along the shield.[break][break]
Pulled onto its back, Navy joins it in the mad rush upward. A behemoth bash to end this, to buy them time.[break][break]
And then, again, the light takes them.

He turns from her, he rushes into battle atop the brilliant canid. Their duty is to protect as many as they can, but what comes after should they fall?[break][break]

A blinding light swallows them whole, her voice lost as Reiner holds so tight onto her. When they next land, the child in her arms is gone. The world is no longer set ablaze, giant pokemon no longer force the earth to tremble. Instead, they are surrounded by life; Joy and colours that stir to form a lively street.[break][break]

"You're not from around here are you?"[break][break]

Blinking quietly, her fingers press against Reiner's shoulder as she looks from Navy to the speaker. An old lady with the kindest of smiles, waving her hand and beckoning them over. When they approach, she'll gesture over to her large display of masks, each one painstakingly handcrafted with the most careful of details.[break][break]

"Oh dearies, pick whichever one you like best!"

It feels like summertime again. It feels like a summer from long ago. He had been young in those days, well and truly young.[break][break]
“Huh…” Following after Eris, he surveys the masks. Rows upon rows of them sit there, carved in immaculate detail. An absol mask sits next to an intricate rendition of a snarling Garchomp. Up above, the carved faces of two heroes sit looking down on them. Zacian and Zamazenta are as indifferent in mask form as they are in flesh.[break][break]
“Yo, look. It’s Isaac’s mask.” Pointing to a mask depicting Suicune, he looks at the mask right above it. There sits a scarlet mask depicting a roaring, winged dragon. It appears larger than the other masks, more detailed. It feels like it would be a crime to disturb that mask.[break][break]
Navy settles on Zacian’s mask instead. Pulling it off the rack, he dons the mask and looks down at Eris.[break][break]
“Say, which one are you gonn-”[break][break]
“Navy, Eris, you guys still haven’t picked out a mask?” Gabe asks. Navy freezes, like he’s seen a ghost.[break][break]
“I made a friend while I was waiting on you!”

And just like that time, the first thing on their list of to-dos is to get a mask of her own. Navy points out the one painted in Suicune's image, and she quirks her lips to one side as if contemplating whether he's right.[break][break]

Of course, he would go for that sword wolf's mask. That leaves just her to figure out...[break][break]

Just who this stranger is. An unfamiliar voice calling her name gets her to turn around, her eye settling upon the other kid present. Though, it doesn't exactly take her much to connect the dots. Someone friendly with Navy, someone she's spied in the pictures kept in his office, someone who makes Navy freeze right up.[break][break]

His brother, whom she's never gotten the name of, but has somehow always found herself being compared to.[break][break]

"No... I was just about to." Even missing information can be smoothed over if one acts as they usually do. Tugging on Navy's hand, she points to the Shinx mask right at the top of the display, one that earns a small nod from Reiner. And in that time, she'll give it a reassuring squeeze, a reminder that she's still here by his side.[break][break]

"So, who'd you meet?"
