MELMETAL is fairly self-sufficient at this point. It was an innately good brawler, even when up against an opponent of such a high caliber. It slammed its fist into the ELECTRO BALL with a THUNDER PUNCH of its own, sending torrents of electricity crackling across the field.[break][break]

It was a counter not without consequences. For a brief moment the titan fell to one knee.[break][break]

"Whatever I want?" Barnaby raised a brow, immediately mischievous. "I'm sure a lot of my fans wonder about your love life. Have you found a Mrs. Morales yet?"[break][break]

Leaping back to put some space between the both of them, a DISARMING VOICE echoed through the air serenely. Ollie wasn't the only one who could charm a crowd with their voice, after all.

To Tofu's DISARMING VOICE, the MELMETAL paused mid-step to cover its... ears? The sound was painful and deafening, but it still managed to suddenly beat the ground with its fist to cause an EARTHQUAKE.[break][break]

[break][break] "What about you, Mr. Finch? You got a lady luck, yet?" There was a slight gleam in Ollie's eyes, friendly and a bit flirtatious. Anything, of course, to deflect from his spotlight.

[break][break] Tofu, meanwhile, was having the battle of his life.

[break][break] The ground rocked from underneath him, splitting in two and nearly swallowing him whole. The Pikachu let out a squeak of surprise, paws scrambling for purchase on the ground, and just barely managed to prevent himself from being swallowed. Rocks and dirt still tore through this fur, causing his expression to grow rugged and fatigued. He breathed hard.

[break][break] Fighting was much harder than it looked on TV.

[break][break] Cheeks sparking with light once more, the electric-type attempted a resurgence. He darted in a zigzag pattern across the ground, empowered by TRAILBLAZE. Leaves and vines sprouted beneath his feet, granting him swiftness, before he plunged forward, aiming a swipe at the mythical's hard, metal body.

Instead, when Tofu charged forward, vines and foliage aiding in its attack, MELMETAL deployed its SPIKY SHIELD at the last minute, blocking and almost certainly injuring Tofu in the process.[break][break]

[break][break] "Nah," he said, shrugging. "No lady luck. Yet." The last was punctuated by a meaningful glance at the other, and then a wink — which sent the crowd roaring all on it's own.

[break][break] Tofu squeaked with pain as the SPIKE SHIELD pierced him. He skidded back against the ground, growling with frustration as he couldn't find any weaknesses in the other pokemon's armor.

[break][break] 'Pika pi!' he shouted at Ollie, who suddenly snapped back to attention at his pokemon's sense of urgency. Oh right. They were battling!

[break][break] "Come on, let's go bud! Dynamax!" The band around his arm glowed a vicious hue, a glow which snapped to his partner pokemon. The Pikachu tripled in size, growing massive in the small space. Though he wouldn't be fast... the Melmetal wasn't the only one who could be strong.

[break][break] A SURF resurrected in the space before them, crashing down and hopefully turning the tides of battle.

The battle seemed to be at its turning point. With ollie morales utilizing his DYNAMAX BAND, Barnaby figured it was as good a time as any to GIGANTAMAX his own Pokémon.[break][break]

MELMETAL grew to the size of a colossus, ready to take on the PIKACHU on more equal footing. Just in time, too, as water washed over its gargantuan feet, threatening to destabilize it. In retaliation it called forth MAX STEELSPIKE, which sent giant thorns of metal jutting up from the ground and across the field.[break][break]

With the field drenched in water, the massive amount of electricity the PIKACHU suddenly expelled was boosted in power. MELMETAL groaned in pain, the sound like a metal beam waning under a heavy load. It almost succumbed.[break][break]

"Finish it!!" Barnaby shouted in encouragement, genuinely wrapped up in the intensity of the battle.[break][break]

With that command MELMETAL slammed its giant fists down once more to cause a MAX QUAKE. Thankfully, it was enough to finally fell the GIGANTAMAXED Tofu.[break][break]
