"I don't expect it to be." He said stoically, observing his opponent's pokemon as his own descended into the battlefield.

The armored avian eyed its opponent coldly, whatever weariness it felt masked entirely by confidence.

The type advantage wouldn't be easy to overcome, but there were many paths they could take to try and diminish its effects.

Closing his eyes and breathing in deeply, Gwyar finally nodded at his opponent.

"Let us have a fruitful bout." He said simply, before swiping his arm across the air, his Corviknight spreading its vast wingspan and taking flight.

TL;DR:
-Hello.

Despite being able to clip the Corviknight's wings easily with Raikiri's electricity, Josh couldn't let his guard down. Gwyar, too, had beaten two other opponents to get here. He wouldn't be an easy one to overcome. In his mind, both had to operate under the assumption that the other would be merciless, what with there being money on the line.

From the moment the horn sounded, Raikiri was in motion, running circles around Lancelette before pouncing skyward. His spark-laden PLASMA PAWS flew toward the Corviknight with blinding speed, giving Gwyar and his Pokémon only a split second to react!

Her opponent was not soaring towards her, it was jumping. With a flap of her wings, gales pushed back against the electric feline's charge whilst sending the Corviknight back and away from its reach.

A dark aura enveloped the avian but a moment later, surging towards the Zeraora and threatening to swallow it whole.

A split second was all the Corviknight needed, the wake of her giant wings batting the mythical feline out of the way. Neither side touched the other, Raikiri quick to about face and swerve away from the diving avian. A draw, serving only to eat time off the clock.

With the Corviknight flying faster than usual, an Electro Ball barrage would be ineffective. With paws on fire from the tremendous friction burn, the Zeraora leaped after Gwyar's Pokémon a second time, pounding after her with the force of two FIRE PUNCHES.

The enemy changed their approach, so they needed to respond in kind.

With blazing fists fast approaching, Lancelette attempted to barrel roll around her opponent, a searing hot aura enveloping her silhouette as she flapped her wings, before she sped towards the Zeraora like an arrow.

The loud sound of metal against paw and claw made Josh squint, unable to imagine how tough the reckless and powerful dive was for Raikiri to withstand. Though they both looked worse for wear after the clash, Raikiri appeared to be just barely in better shape from the bird's metal body burning hot.

Needing a moment to recover from the impact, the Zeraora circled the outer bounds of the arena with great AGILITY before leaping and BOUNCING skyward, trying to land on the metal bird's back for a devastating attack from above.

Last exchange hadn't gone in their favor— they needed to rebalance the scales before things became unsalvageable.

As their opponent attempted to bounce atop her, Lancelette performed a risky manuever, aileron rolling in order to try and avoid the other's leap whilst her wings shone like dark steel, swinging towards the plunging Zeraora like a steel propeller.

The aileron roll was fast and daring, grazing Raikiri and preventing him from landing on the giant corvid's back. It was Lancelette's saving grace, and one that would give Gwyar a chance to turn the match around. It was a slim chance, given that the STEEL WING was but a glancing blow on the thundercat.

A ruthless and merciless competitor, Josh thrust his Z-GLOVE high into the air, Raikiri's QUICKINIUM-Z glowing a myriad of whites and yellows. The Zeraora leaped at the Corviknight at seemingly impossible speeds the Z-MOVE: HYPERSONIC PLASMA CHARGE gifted him. Though he expected the supersonic claw swipes to do little to the heavily armored avian, the line of lightning strikes in his wake would threaten to fry Lancelette. If she was still aloft after that, the sonic boom would ring and rattle every piece of her metallic armor!

Vs Josh Devlin

Though battered and fried, the avian remained aloft, stubbornly refusing to give up just yet as she swerved through the air towards her opponent.

Silently, Gwyar raised a fist in the air, the keystone embedded in the gauntlet glowing brightly as an aura enveloped the steel bird, transforming her.

The air around her shimmered once again as her body was enveloped in a burning aura, her wing span increasing twicefold as she accelerated towards the Zeraora with an avian cry.

The extreme force behind the Z-Move was met by the Corviknight's MEGA EVOLUTION, the colliding energies rippling across the court and making it a struggle for Josh to stand. It was as though two shockwaves, not just one, washed over him as the frighteningly powerful attacks collided. The dangers to both Pokémon were so great that the judges waved the match off, taking it to a decision.

The decision process did not take long; Raikiri had completely avoided harm until both let their strongest attacks loose. The call was unanimous, the Gym Leader victorious. "Thought you were gonna come back and snatch that one from me," Josh exhaled. "Good match, and great to see you around. Who knows? Maybe I'll see you at Mauville Gym again."

Vs Josh Devlin

An unfortunate conclusion.

Gwyar returned Lancelette to her pokeball, nodding at Josh's words.

"Perhaps next time." He said simply. "Best luck to you on the tournament, Mr. Devlin."

He turned on his heel and marched out of the arena, making his way to the in-stadium Pokemon center.
