“Good idea,” June rushed forward towards the alcove again. Even as the bright yellows cracked the sky and pounded in her ears, she ran underneath the rock and took hold of her bag. She shoved the fallen items back inside and slung it over her back.

This time, she waited for the sound of thunder to stop and for the ceiling to stop shaking. It continued on for seconds, but it did stop. Her head peeked out to confirm it was safe, only to see the Roaring Moon roar loudly and go in for another Dragon Rush.

“MIDNIGHT! COVER US, WE’RE LEAVING!”

The massive creature roared in response, then quickly angled herself down towards the ground. As June started to run, Midnight went faster and faster. Boosted by the hot sun rays and momentum, it easily caught up to both of the trainers. She couldn’t look back, but she swore she heard it flap its massive wings to slow down and–

“Woah woah WOAH–” Her legs met solid air, and a strong left lifted her off the ground. Annalise was right next to her, similarly grabbed by the paradoxical Pokémon. As electric artillery rained down onto the rocks and brought hell to the environment, they got closer and closer to the rift.

Soon enough, they entered the portal as one more surge of power thudded against the rocky cliffs. Things returned to their ‘normal’ normal state. The Roaring Moon let both of them fall to the ground, and June quickly retreated the dangerous creature. She panted into the air, happy to breathe something that didn’t feel charged with raw power.

This had been a failure, but that was okay– this was the start. Just meant she’d have to try harder next time. No one would keep her from her goal. Not even a pissed-off Annalise.
