“Eris, Eris!” He shouts, moving to step towards her. Another of the invisible panels stops him dead in his tracks. “Eris, it’s just a sim! Stand up!” He begs her, slamming his hand against the panel. A mat lifts up, revealing the man of the hour. A dart is flicked at Navy, propelled by a Nidoking’s strength.[break][break]
Hattori catches it, falling to the floor. Poison drips from the edge of the dart. The little frog gurgles his frustration, keen eye tracing a path around the gym. Pointing his hand forward, he shoots a brief blast of smoke forward. As expected, it funnels through the path created by the invisible walls, revealing a path forward.[break][break]
“Clever,” Walsh says, “but predictable.” Somewhere in the smoke, a thunder punch breaks through a mat.[break][break]
“Eris, hold on. I’ll try and feel around a way to you.” Looking back at his shinobi, he shouts, “Kick his ass, Hattori!” And so begins a long process of feeling his way around the invisible walls.

[attr="class","inner-finally"]Brave, yet a coward. Weak, yet somehow strong. Capable enough of taking care of herself, yet a little underprepared to be soaring all by herself. Woven in a web of lies and contradictions is a tiny existence that goes by the name of Eris.[break][break]

Those who would not fight are but casualties in a war. Her inaction draws an eye towards herself, the panic in Navy's voice giving far too much up.[break][break]

Shadows seep under her, instincts jolting her to action as she tries to move away. But a Metal Claw snaps around her ankle, her scream melding with the crunch of bone. Lightning strikes quick in retaliation, salivating jaws Crunching down on the Gliscor's arm and loosening its grip as Reiner rips the duo apart.[break][break]

An Electric Terrain floods the room, sparks of energy clawing and crawling up invisible walls as they periodically outline the structure of the maze. And yet, matched up against a pokemon that treats his lightning as nothing more than a tickling sensation, Reiner can only afford to defend himself and Eris to the best of his abilities.[break][break]

"Move and they pay the price."[break][break]

The field is his to control, the pieces in the palm of his hands.

When this war was waged for well and true, few legends walked the earth. Tera crystals had not been mined, mega evolution had not even been conceived. Z-moves, one of the first tricks to ever be played against the forces of the multiverse, were the stuff of children’s fantasy.[break][break]
From where he hides, Walsh’s eyes go wide. A fresh voice rings through the gym.[break][break]
“ORAAAAAAAA!” Shuwen, freshly mega evolved, slams his fist into an invisible wall. It was meant to withstand abuse, but not this. It shatters into a tens of thousands of pieces, scattering across the ground. He moves forward, utterly destroying this gym. Navy’s solution is overwhelming force.[break][break]
Declan Walsh recovers quick, nor does he buckle under pressure. He makes good on his promise. He strike at Eris and Reiner…[break][break]
…only to strike a substitute. Not just any substitute. As Eris and Reiner plop down at Navy’s side, Walsh’s Pokemon have made the foolish mistake of striking Hattori’s substitution jutsu.[break][break]
“I’ve got you.” Navy assures her, patting Eris on the shoulder. “Walsh isn’t gonna hurt us.”

If Walsh goes for their throats now -[break][break]

All he can do is cover Eris with his own body, praying that he is enough to keep her from harm. And yet, it never comes. No brand new source of searing pain or excruciating torture sinks into his flesh or carves up his bones. Navy is a man of his word. Has his pokemon ready to step in when the Luxray feels his own strength failing him.[break][break]

For that, he is grateful. Relieved. Determined to fight alongside him to protect the one that matters to him most.[break][break]

When talking ordinary, Reiner is probably not capable of hitting hard like Shuwen or Hattori do. But he is special, forever changed by the strange and wondrous powers that inhabit Hoenn. From under ripped floormats, flowers will bloom, petals ripped from stem by a wild wind as a Springtide Storm begins to roar.[break][break]

Narrowing their enemies line of sight, the winds slam into clone after clone and force them to dissipate into what they are - Mere smoke and shadows. In an enclosed room like this, there is nowhere that this tempest will not reach, tearing away whatever hiding spots Walsh may have once had and steadily ousting him.

Reiner shows the future Hoenn boss a dream of spring. It tears through the mats, leaving the whole area exposed. Walsh is afforded precious few spots. Instead, he is forced to send out all three of his Pokemon at once, trying to push an advantage. Three attacks sweep towards Eris, Reiner, and Navy. Three attacks are blocked by a substitute.[break][break]
Hattori returns the blow with magnum force. He is not, conventionally speaking, strong. This Z-move is an insidious thing, turning his opponent’s strength against them. Hattori appears in a puff of smoke, slamming against the Nidoking with enough force to knock the Pokemon out in one blow. A small ‘tch’ escapes the Rocket admin.[break][break]
Walsh doesn’t know what tricks they’re using, but he knows a losing battle when he sees one. He begins to inch away, making his retreat.[break][break]
Navy can’t take the place of an unknown brother or fallen parents, but he can fight. That, he can do very well. He fights tooth and nail, with all his heart, until the battle is won.

With the great evil repelled, the minions are sure to scatter like the wind. But the scars will remain, the gashes that these monsters have left behind will continue to bleed and stain the sky a vivid red. She pays no heed to the little details of monster donning the disguise of man. Only imagines the destruction he has orchestrated on a city of ordinary people.[break][break]

Doesn't have to imagine any longer if one of them throws open those doors.[break][break]

Tired as he may be, Reiner first turns his attention to Eris, purring softly as he tries to pull her into a hug. He knows that this is all just a simulation, but that doesn't seem to make the pain any less real for them. Trying to make her move around with a crushed ankle will only exacerbate her tears, wreck her spirits more than this location already has.[break][break]

And so he looks to Navy, a weary gaze questioning just whether he wishes to witness the madness outside.

With an older man’s wisdom, Navy recognizes that there are some doors which should remain closed. The door to the gym, he recognizes, is one such door. Whatever he sees out there will help neither him nor Eris. Not now, when she’s in this state. They have defied fate. Somehow, some way, they have proven Declan Walsh, even some distant past version of the man, is not invincible.[break][break]
There is victory in that. Navy sits by Eris and watches the wall. The simulation will move them along shortly. There is nothing in Fuschia that he would show Eris.[break][break]
“We did good.” He tells her with a smile not entirely genuine. “We beat Declan Walsh.”[break][break]
But he’s not the only one here. As Walsh flees into the city, Hattori follows. Standing atop the gym, he alone among them sees what they are fighting for. Fuschia is in flames. Smoke burns from the north, where Saffron sits. Rocket is in the midst of its violent revolution. People are cut down in the street. Chaos reigns in every direction.[break][break]
And Hattori, alone among Navy’s Pokemon, sees the stakes. He alone among his Lord’s retinue learns why this fight is so important. Though he has but one eye, it is an eye that can see.

An ashen field awaits them, smoke taking hold of the lungs. Beyond a shivering, pale pink veil, a great wolf hunts with mighty sword and pride. She snaps at the throat of a Guardian Deity, earning a quiet tut from Tapu Lele as she retaliates with the wrath of nature itself.[break][break]

"Get it together, Navy!" A girl cries, hands held out as tendrils of pink twist and curl up her arms. Wave after wave of attacks slam into her barrier, but it doesn't shatter. It can't afford to whilst he is here.[break][break]

"I can't get to Kaz like this!"

To his credit, he acts. Smoke chokes his lungs, yet still he acts. No god’s power empowers him, whether in this timeline or any other. He is simply Navy, simply a man trying to do what is right.[break][break]
“Come on, Wukong.” He shouts, releasing his Infernape. Wukong doesn’t get to play much, especially compared to Hattori and Shuwen, but he makes up for lost time. With a madman’s recklessness, he charges right at the Crowned Sword. Zacian flicks the blood sword, behemoth blade clashing with a fire punch. The force sends his Infernape flying back, laughing like a mad thing.[break][break]
He is already back on his feet, already smiling again. Trainer and Pokemon plan their next move, swaying around. Zacian’s blade begins to glow with killing light. A behemoth blade comes for them.[break][break]

Closer and closer she attempts to get, watching as Kazimir Wynter starts to slow in his rampage. In the moment that he stills, she finally gathers enough courage to approach him.[break][break]

"Kaz?" Quiet and calm, her voice is but a passing whisper on a roaring battlefield. "I'm here to help."[break][break]

Her hands are outstretched, an offer and a prayer to help ease the pain he feels. The endless hunger and madness that she feels emanating from him.[break][break]

"Just take my hand. Whenever you're ready." Her smile is soft, her gaze equally so. "We can go home together. Punch a few trees, play some games, get a good ol' pizza... just like before."[break][break]

His chest heaves, each breath heavy with effort as he struggles to lift a hand. But eventually he does, gently taking ahold of her hand. Glowing pink lines trace her skin, tender as her touch as it begins to trace Kazimir's own.[break][break]

"Let's g-"[break][break]

A screams rings through the field. A scream belonging to none other than Mesprit. Harmed by neither Zacian's temper, nor Tapu Lele's curse, their eyes are wide as they dive away from bitter teeth and claws.[break][break]

Behind them, a tiny figure stills, a tainted sword pierced straight through her chest.[break][break]

"Kaz...?"[break][break]

Hatred. It burns bright in his eyes. And he will watch as Eris burns for standing far too close.

Zacian stands over him before the warrior can react. Not Wukong, but Navy. The blade wolf looks down with dark eyes, wild with hunger. He doesn’t have time to notice Eris is gone. He doesn’t have time to notice anything. He, Navy, one of Hoenn’s Elite Four, is cut down.[break][break]
He simply ceases to feel half of his body. Blood sprays as he tumbles through the air. Phantom sensation makes his left hand coil, but he has no left hand anymore. His arm is gone somewhere below the elbow. Raucous red blood paints the ground like a dying sun.[break][break]
When he slumps against the ground, he has landed next to Eris. He coughs, gurgling out words that do not amount up to anything. Crying out, all he can do is watch in horror. RKS does not allow him to die, but it does not yet regrow his limbs. That will come with the end of the simulation.[break][break]
Whatever happens next, he is a passive observer.
