"Another observation point right where those rangers said it'd be. They're just as resilient as Rocket." he said having finally found the faint but visible point pushed close to rather large expanse of tera crystal on the ground. Specimens of crystal poking up ever so often but overall appearing more from this distance like a glittering lake than crystal specimens. [break][break]

The coordinates they'd been given by the patrol that'd spotted it had taken some time to follow, with the path being a seemingly endless downward slope of curving and twisting paths. The sheer cliffs they stood on were a surprise. How deep did Area Zero go? Anymore and he'd expect groundwater or something worse. [break][break]

He sighed through his nose, eyeing the encampment through the scope on his rifle. "Seems...relaxed. Some equipment...like ours? I think on the edge of the crystal. About 3 visible. Either hidden in their point or patrolling nearby." Though, surely, they were far enough to avoid detection for now. [break][break]

“Guess we’ve got a minute, then.” Playing the part of a spotter, Navy looks at the encampment through a pair of binoculars. The people he observes look…human. It seems a simple fact, almost silly once his brain processes the thought. Of course they look human. That they are agents of a greater force doe not prevent them from being humans. They’re people, just like Navy or Paxton. They’ll bleed. It’s probably even red.[break][break]
“You’re real good at explaining complicated stuff in terms a moron can understand.” It’s his idea of a compliment. Paxton’s been very helpful, during their brief meetings over the past year. “So I’ve got a real dumb question. Lots of scientist types and Callan Young have tried explaining this to me, but I still don’t really get these guys.” He whispers the words, observing them simply move about, surveying the area like the League or Team Rocket would.[break][break]
“They’re trying to destroy the universe, and they’ve got Unown backing ‘em up. I know that much. Need to know practical deets.” A small pause, before he states it in even blunter terms. “How do they fight?”

Paxton froze, carefully feeling the skittering of something small up his back and then up his head. He raised a hand slowly, scooping up and setting down a little Joltik, helping it scamper off before it decided to shock him. As that settled he pulled back from his rifle, pushing off his chest into a seated position as he scooted back from the cliff. "Forgive them. Not everyone's briefing skills are fully developed in the science department." However, with so much constant scientific improvement and discovery, he wouldn't hold too much against them. And if he really needed anything, he typically emailed or asked Eva Morales or illeana reyes . [break][break]

"It's hard to conceptualize the idea of other universes, but if you've had run-ins or read the report on those who encountered Father Winter the Second this past winter, it helps illustrate what they mean. Kinda." But that's all to say they were the same as Rocket. "For our purpose, they're terrorists. Just like Rocket. Though, they may be the only remaining force here that may be able to push a temporary truce between us." [break][break]

He pulled out a small notebook, flipping through pages of scribble before checking something. Passing radio frequencies and code names, he notes their options for backup before glancing at the Navy. "You still in contact with your gym's staff for reinforcements?" he asked. There's a pause in his speech as he frowned, pulling from previous run ins. "Fast. Teleportation is their gimmick. You ever been shot at by the speed of light?" he sighed through his nose remembering it. "I've heard it's not happening now, but I still wouldn't trust letting a beam from those Unown hit me. Before they were disintegrating people, things. No clue where they went or what happened. dahlia goode nearly eradicated. Our best bet is surprise, and I can probably incapacitate one or two. After that it'll be trickier, and I'll have to run."

“Huh.” That whispered word is the only input offered through the discussion. Practical terms for a practical man. Describing them as like Rocket helps slot the pieces into place. Rigorous, practical calculus plays across his mind. Although he isn’t a career soldier like Paxton, a warrior’s instinct guides his mind.[break][break]
“I’ll get some of my trainers on the line. Don’t keep a big staff at the gym, but most of them I have are here at the chasm anyway.” A few pass phrases are scribbled, along with a channel. They’ll signal his trainers to come, attack, kick some ass.[break][break]
“How the hell do they recruit folk?” The question passes the time while he writes. “Rocket I get. Either you’re greedy or a zealot. Money talks, or you tell yourself you’re part of something greater. Seems hard to imagine someone buying a sales pitch that ends with everyone you have ever known or loved will die.” They live in strange times, and he remembers how insane the world got right before Meteno was diverted.[break][break]
“Anyway…got a plan, I think. Hattori’s real sneaky – my Greninja. He’ll sneak in with some of the pokeballs with my heavy hitters. He’ll signal us by throwing ‘em out. You hit ‘em with your rifle, I fly in. Hard and fast. We try and take ‘em alive. Who knows what we could learn?”

"In and out quickly. Once I take the first shot they'll start buzzing like a swarm of Beedrill." he stated. Paxton closed his eyes, rubbing them to conserve his vision before looking back at the Elite Four. He gave him a slow blink, thinking before looking back at the encampment. Occasionally one of the members teleported around it for more mundane purposes. [break][break]

"They’re similar terrorists. DRK Triad operates like a religious cult. They have a higher purpose of preventing the destruction of every universe." he said with a small shrug. "Rocket, at least in Hoenn, has abandoned extortion and blackmail to gather recruits. They haven't operated like that since SILAS BLACKWELL died." he said, idly scratching some mud out of the rock as he spoke. "They're all there by choice. No extortion needed. Money is still involved, but lately it seems to be a lot of League dissatisfaction." he shrugged. "Both make a conscious decision to join their organizations and," he paused as he pulled the bolt back and deposited a round into his rifle. "They both bleed the same color when you shoot them." [break][break]

He let out his Porygon, the normal type letting out a soft chirp as it hovered beside Paxton. It saw the rifle and knew it was time to work. "Let's hope I don't kill their team leader then." he said as he got back down to look through his scope. "They dress much the same, but someone's gotta be handing out orders. I’ll TELEPORT in to help secure them.” He paused before adding, “We also have Jirachi’s support to start off Hattori’s assault.”

“Catch all that?” Navy asks his shadow.[break][break]
“Ja.” The shadow answers. Hattori crawls out, looking up at his trainer. His Greninja is small, burned black by Groudon’s flames. One eye is covered by an eyepatch, a mark to remember Cillian Quinn by.[break][break]
“Alright. Ready when you guys are. I’ll radio Jirachi.” Or rather, his handler. It is awkward, being a part of a proper, coordinated military. Navy feels like he’s in a movie, only the stakes are his life. This isn’t a game, but he feels his heartbeat start to rise.[break][break]
Hattori disappears into the shadows once more. He’ll reappear somewhere within the came. Four of Navy’s pokeballs are gone. When Jirachi and Paxton take their shots, all hell will break loose. He’s been in a Beedrill hive before. He’s confident he can handle whatever comes next.[break][break]
A few spoken words on a radio, along with some coordinates, is all Jirachi needs. Somewhere far away, an eye opens. It sees the doom of someone within the camp. Calamity will soon be visited upon them.[break][break]
Light shines down upon the unfortunate soul. Four red flashes sprout around the camp. Navy covers his ears, expecting a shot.

Paxton gave the Greninja and E4 a thumbs up before settling into position. He takes to his scope, eyes closed before carefully opening one and pulling his rifle tight. In and out, breathe slowly despite the spike in adrenaline right before the shot. The teleportations are low, until he lines up his sight picture with someone's chest. Nothing fancy, hit the target. He stretched out his finger before the shot fired through, the crack of his muzzle firing slightly muffled. [break][break]

The hot land, and a body drops to the floor. "One down!" he relayed, as his Porygon vibrated nervously waiting for its signal. The camp is immediately buzzing with DRK Triad agents moving around. Some appear dozens of feet in the air checking, taunting the sniper as their own Unown pin and writhe ready to dispatch him. They're just in line for Jirachi's baleful attack and he closes his eyes, taking his chances at his best as the attack crashes into the encampment. [break][break]

But what' left is Unown, more than agents frantic and busy. Eyes upon eyes in the darkness glowing with power as they try to locate them. He takes another shot as an Unown seemingly makes direct eye contact with him. It's torn apart but its brethren all lock on to his position multiple brilliant beams into rock and stone. Hopper TELEPORTs them to an alternate location, a nearby hill, closer than before. "Your turn!" he called back as he set up once more, rougher and faster. The attack now was to overwhelm before they could figure out where the shots and attacks were coming from. At least this part is easy. They only used Unown, avoiding Hattori or the rest of Navy's pokemon would be simple.

It seems less an ambush and more a massacre.[break][break]
Five Pokemon materialize from pokeballs at five points around the came.[break][break]
An Urshifu, an Iron Valiant, a Kommo-O, an Infernape, and a Garchomp walk into a DRK Triad camp…feels like a set-up for a joke. It is anything but. They are five of Navy’s best Pokemon. Each one is an excellent combatant. Each knows how to incapacitate. They try to knock out the humans and their Pokemon when they can.[break][break]
Each of them has had it stressed that Unown are not to be underestimated. Naomi Sato stands as proof of the deadly power Unowns can draw upon. Blades, fists, flames, and gnashing teeth attack human and Unown alike. Urshifu and Iron Valiant are precise, both aware they have a guardian angel. They leave Paxton room to take shots. The Urshifu even thinks far enough ahead to bait one of the Dark Triad insurgents into teleporting themselves out into the open by rushing him. When faced with either an Urshifu’s fists or an unknown sniper, he takes his chances with the sniper.[break][break]
Kommo-O tries, but his armor makes him arrogant. He takes hits, returning them in kind. The dragon clangs his scales, trying to psych out his foes. Infernape laughs and dances around him, throwing reckless fire punches around camp.[break][break]
Navy’s clothes seem to shift where he sits. His sync stone activates, changing his outfit to the deep, dark blue-red-gold of a Garchomp. His soul blends with that of his black dragon. Vortigern rages, and Navy feels that rage in his soul.[break][break]
“Can I catch a ride when you teleport in?” Navy asks amicably. “Looks like Hattori’s trying to take some alive.” He sees the Greninja jumping from shadows, binding their enemy. Unown turn towards their bound trainers, a newfound malicious glean in their eyes.

As the strike team makes it in and begins throwing chaos and trying to incapacitate the camp, Paxton is already on his stomach all over again. He fires shots, one after the other. Hopper helps him reload as he stays trained on the camp as the Unown and DRK Triad assassins scramble to combat everything all at once. He shoots an Unown O through the eye, and cuts off the tail end of an Unown J. He manages to beat back an assassin, a shot catching their shoulder before its time to go. [break][break]

The flurry of Unown find him and begin their assault again even as he continues to fire. It's less accurate, but they're clustered together, surely something will hit. He reads the Navy's message loud and clear. "Brace yourself, Navidson" he said back. [break][break]

It's only warning as a final shot is fired before Hopper TELEPORTS him to the E4's side. Paxton lowered his rifle, clapping a hand on the man's shoulder before Hopper TELEPORTs again into the middle of the encampment. Paxton lets out Joules who pulls up a flurry of PROTECT screens as Hopper moves up and out to repel whatever attacks would try to come from above. The Unown fire off, hitting the screens and beginning to crack through some of them just as quickly as Joules had set up. [break][break]

"Told you they're fast." he said as on cue, a DRK Triad Agent moved in closer for the attack, the shields worthless when there was so much other space to maneuver in.

“Yeah,” Navy agrees, “they are.” But clad in gold-scaled armor like a myrmidon of old, he little cares how fast they are. His soul synergizes with his Kommo-O’s. It is a far gentler, nobler, than his Garchomp’s.[break][break]
Somehow, he doubts these assassins will notice the difference. Electricity surges through the suit. His thunder punch knocks a man clean through one tent and out another, leaving him tangled in tarp. An Unown surges with hidden power, taking Navy be surprise. Blood pools in his stomach, a grievous and painful wound.[break][break]
Nothing a drain punch can’t fix. Another Assassin is punched. His strength is siphoned, healing the wound. Navy could get used to this. Working with Paxton, he decides, is very fun.[break][break]
“Wait!” The drained assassin begs, slumping to the ground. “I give up. I’ll tell you—” His own Unown turns upon him. Hidden Power takes the form of fire, burning him to a crisp. The man dies screaming amidst salt and smoke.[break][break]
“Fuck, man.” Navy says, momentarily taken out of everything. Nothing has so vividly, viscerally, told him what sort of people he’s dealing with as seeing their own Pokemon turn upon them for the cause.

The numbers deplete and the Unown disappear. Paxton shoots an assassin's way out and moves in to capture them. They don't speak, both agents committed to their own faction. Joules fires off a ZAP CANON as they see Paxton grabbing one. That's really all they needed right? [break][break]

"Got one-" he began to report as he managed to punch one down and drop his full weight on their chest, keeping them struggling on the ground. "You're done, Triad!" he snarled, giving another good punch. But that only seemed to make them fight harder. Adrenaline pulses through him and his heart beats as fast as a hummingbird's. [break][break]

As he's struggling to flip the assassin over, they rip their mask and grin, showing they've bitten into something hidden. Dark purple drips down their mouth and they stare up defiantly. Paxton is a second too slow to realize what's happening. "Shit! Shit-" he cursed as he pawed at himself trying to reload his Florges. But by the time the Blue flowering pokemon is ready to cure whatever poison consumed, the assassin is gone. [break][break]

"They're carrying exit switches in their mouths." he said finally, speaking into the comms as the chaos finally settled. "Cassidy and Navidson out here in sector 3. DRK Triad encampment nullified, 5 casualties." The report goes out as he asks for recovery. "Someone tell illeana reyes I've got another few bodies for autopsy." he added as he looked back at the Elite Four and gave him a thumbs up. He then proceeded to check his rifle, making sure the safety stayed on and checking for any damages. "Good work. Lets see if there's any papers we can recover after a quick break. Joules, secure the perimeter would you? Go with them." he said, looking over at the fairy type and nodding over at the Magnezone.
