When was the last time he was here?

Had it really been a few days ago? Or was he just misremembering things? Honestly he couldn’t remember.

With the damned popularity of this particular area, it was no wonder it was one of the most-visited attractions—lots of people trying to catch their chance with a Magikarp, and then well, who knew that there was a shiny lurking in the tank somewhere?

He thought he’d spotted it a few days ago the first time he came here. However, this time around was different—he was handed what equated to be the single flimsiest paper nets constructed!

“…is this thing even going to work to catch a Magikarp?” he inquires of the stall guard, who this time appears to be an over energetic boy. Getting a really enthusiastic nod and some excited babbling in response, he falls in line and waits his turn.

Eventually he makes it to the front of the tank and then drops the flimsy-as-fuck net in, mentally screaming at the stupidity of everything.

He uttered a faintly disgusted noise, tossing the plain Magikarp back into the pond with a resentment that was, really, quite troubling. It was just some stupid game, after all - why was he getting to invested? Did it really matter to him? Maybe he should walk away and just get on with things.

He thought to himself as his hands mechanically went through the process of casting the line and reeling in the Magikarp, all while his mind was far away.

he gets another magikarp, though it wasn't as pretty as the magikarp that the other fishers get. while he doesn't usually care about the appearance of any pokemon besides his dogs, the fact that he's quite unlucky compared to others makes him kinda sad.

no other way around it besides testing his luck multiple times until he gets one that he wants. he casts his line once more.

the one he got earlier was a normal one.

maybe fishing wasn't for him, but that does not stop priam from trying to get the rumored golden magikarp from the seas. he does not care how many tries it takes until he gets there, so he casts his line in the water for another try, waiting patiently (which was surprising on its own) and then pulling the magikarp out when he feels the nibble.
