Attempting to herd a stampede of GREAT TUSK was much, much easier said than done. When asked to steer them away from vital LEAGUE ENCAMPMENTS, however, Remiel Calcifet had readily volunteered. There was some debate about whether AQUA's newest member should tackle this alone or not but, eventually, the exiled royal had set off upon his AERODACTYL anyway.[break][break]

Strategically placed ROCK SLIDES and screeches of SUPERSONIC could only go so far, however. The Great Tusk were stubborn and strong. And, seemingly, their endurance knew no bounds.[break][break]

Remiel was sure to stay airborne upon his prehistoric mount as he tried to guide them away from the valley where his allies lay hidden. Or, worse yet, the caves that would eventually lead to the region above. His region: HOENN.[break][break]

AZ EXCURSION C: CULL THE HORDE[break]
INTERDREAM MIST AND THE ACTIVATION OF TERA CRYSTALS summon an aggressive army of PARADOX POKEMON. Upon spawning, they rampage and stampede through AREA ZERO. It is likely that if these hostile Pokemon are allowed free reign that they would escape the caves, the chasm, and ultimately invade all of Hoenn, disrupting the ecosystems to an irreparable degree. Generally speaking, she disliked flying. For more than that one unspeakable incident with lam logan's Pidoves.[break][break]

Elisabeth ascended to the skies on the back of her Dragalge, feeling more and more ill at ease the further away she was from the ground. The earth served as her greatest source of power; so far from its grasp, she couldn't help but feel less assured in her own abilities.[break][break]

Even so, the stampede below would have been overwhelming even with that advantage. The Paradox Pokemon, irritatingly, proved more resilient than standard fare. And her backup, for reasons unknown for her, had yet to arrive.[break][break]

She clicked her tongue in silent annoyance, before a TWISTER spiraled out with a beat of her Dragalge's wings. She watched the funneling wind shove and jostle the Pokemon below, nudging them into place, before a speck appeared in the distance.[break][break]

Her eyes narrowed.[break][break]

A bizarre CRY that echoes throughout the valley steals Remiel's attention. Whatever it had been seemed to carry some serious weight with it. Though, thankfully, it sounded like it resided further within the depths of the GIANT CHASM.[break][break]

Nevertheless, the direction the cry had come from served to turn his blue-eyed gaze toward a figure on the horizon. A separate stampede of Great Tusk was coming from that direction, too, and was already beginning to coalesce with his.[break][break]

He scowls, determined to find out whether this was some LEAGUE cadet he needed to scold or—[break][break]

With a huff, Remiel spurs his Aerodactyl to close the gap between them with AGILITY. And, moments before that gap is closed, it bows its head and tries to strike her DRAGALGE out of the sky (ROCK HEAD) with her upon it. No word or warning is given in this case. Their talk in the SILENT ICELANDS had undoubtedly left an impression on the prince.[break][break]

She recognized the self-righteous glint in Remiel Calcifet's eyes, the same confidence that he'd embodied as Admin Fox that twilight hour where he'd tried to sway her to his treasonous side.[break][break]

Coward, a voice in her mind hissed at his approach. The ROCK HEAD was met with a TAIL WHIP as her Dragalge spun around, deflecting its attack so it wouldn't hit head-on.[break][break]

"Your Majesty," she greeted him mockingly, the two of them close enough now for words to be exchanged as much as blows. "I'm flattered you find me a greater threat than the horde below."[break][break]

Their opposing approaches had resulted in the Paradox Pokemon serving as barriers to one another, stampeding angrily on top of each other as they struggled to move forward.[break][break]

Chaos reigned, strays of them spilling out towards a concerning direction: Hoenn proper.[break][break]

"But by all means. We can make this swift."[break][break]

The Dragalge's tail glowed a beautiful cerulean color before an AQUA TAIL slapped back towards his Aerodactyl, a wave of water soaring with it.[break][break]

Shortly after, a strange pang of fear struck as the sounds from before continued to echo around them, seeming far more aggressive than before.[break][break]

OTHNIEL hisses when he is denied his headbutt with a TAIL WHIP. Remiel is forced to hold on tight as the Aerodactyl makes a sharp turn to face the Dragalge and its rider once more. He yanks back on its reins when it attempts to lunge forward for another attempt, however.[break][break]

Usually, the dragon and rider were of one mind. But Othniel had always been a little bad-tempered toward his opponents and recklessly eager to fight. A firmly secured harness and durable reins were an absolute must with this Aerodactyl.[break][break]

"I thought I caught a whiff of your stench a mile back," The royal responds with a narrowed glare. "Wherever you were planning to lead these GREAT TUSK, it ends here, Fiorelli."[break][break]

The whip of an AQUA TAIL surges its way towards them shortly thereafter, though the pang of FEAR that strikes Remiel at that moment is unnatural. It wasn't the Dragalge or its attack, no. The EX-ADMIN had faced much worse before. Perhaps, he thought, it was whatever had uttered that strange cry earlier.[break][break]

Regardless, his Aerodactly employs its speed once more as it is prompted to dive toward its enemy with a barrel roll. In doing so, it narrowly avoids the AQUA TAIL before attempting to strike with a WING ATTACK. Afterward, it soars ahead to create some distance once more.[break][break]

The WING ATTACK spun Elisabeth and her Dragalge slightly, though a quickly summoned TWISTER readied them mid-air, preventing them from flying too far afield.[break][break]

"Well, apologies for offending your royal sensibilities." A breathy laugh escaped her as she righted herself, grinning down at him wickedly. "Though stench is a bit of an exaggeration, hm? Regardless, I can remedy that."[break][break]

A putrid scent would then assault all of his princely senses as a SLUDGE WAVE was hurled towards Remiel Calcifet and his Aerodactyl, raining toxicity on them both.[break][break]

"What need have you for the GREAT TUSK, anyway? Don't you have some decrees to give to the peasants?"[break][break]

Invisible to the naked eye, a GALVANTULA WEB swayed ever so gently nearby, the winds of the dissipating TWISTER briefly revealing that unseen trap.[break][break]

There's another strange CRY— though hardly enough time to acknowledge it as a TWISTER knocks them off course. Used to such whirlwinds back at the CALCIFET DRACIARY, however, it isn't long before Othniel rights himself in the sky once more. Though not before the two are forced to endure a toxic rain (SLUDGE WAVE).[break][break]

Remiel avoids most of it, but only thanks to a raised Aerodactyl wing that acts as a shield. Angered, the terror bird unleashes a SUPERSONIC screech at the Dragalge that (conveniently) also serves to cut Elisabeth's last sentence short.[break][break]

"Can you imagine the sort of environmental mayhem they would cause aboveground? Haven't you done enough with WO-CHIEN?" Remiel sharply remarks as the ringing fades away from their ears. "Or do you really go out of your way to try and make the rest of the world as putrid as your heart has become?"[break][break]

Below, the chaotic rumble between the two stampedes of GREAT TUSK continued, demolishing the terrain it transpired upon with a great ruckus. But, soon, they would form one. "I'm keeping these from accessing the tunnels," Remiel continues as broken threads of GALVANTULA web drift in the air past him. "Try to hinder me any further and I'll make sure you pay the price."[break][break]

The SUPERSONIC left her Dragalge dizzy, unable to respond with an attack in kind as it focused all its energy on staying upright. Elisabeth's hand remained firmly on the creature's neck, soothing it without words as she guided it to stay airborne.[break][break]

"You mistake me entirely, Calcifet. I am not intending to bring them aboveground."[break][break]

So this was what he thought of her, then. An incompetent harpy gleefully trying to watch the world burn.[break][break]

It was hardly an original interpretation of her, and it was one she anticipated facing more often than not. Despite this, indignation burned inside her at being belittled in such a fashion, though she kept her fake smile plastered on.[break][break]

"It's unfortunate that your direction and mine have collided, forcing them to pick the path neither of us desire. Though I imagine you'd dislike being present for a Rocket ambush. We'd be paid a pretty penny to see you dead."[break][break]

The CONFUSION finally abated as Elisabeth leveled her opponent with a critical eye. A sudden glare of HARSH SUNLIGHT beat down on them both, searing in its heat.[break][break]

"I'm sure the same could be said of me. Bringing back my head on a platter would earn you the respect from dahlia goode you so crave, wouldn't it?"[break][break]

Rats were always rats, no matter where they scurried.[break][break]

The royal scoffs with disbelief. Was he supposed to believe she had nothing but good intentions with these GREAT TUSK then? He would sooner believe that she was corraling them to sell to the highest bidder than drawing them away. Whatever hope he had left for the good in her heart had rotted away some time ago.[break][break]

”Pennies and misguided perceptions of power: that’s all you lot are ever after.” The royal sharply remarks as he raises a hand to shield his eyes from the sun. ”I’m not even sure any of you would know what to do with an abundance of either. The state of KANTO is proof enough of that.” Lingering in a limbo of halted progress and ruthless trade sanctions that had forced declan walsh to seek resources elsewhere: HOENN.[break][break]

”You’re a plague upon this region, Fiorelli, just like your colleagues Beckett and Quinn. The three of you deserve to be cut out from it like malignant tumors. Everyone else would be better off, and I don’t need to be serving under dahlia goode to hold that belief.” He adds as his Aerodactyl snaps its jaws at her from afar.[break][break]

”But, believe it or not, I wouldn’t care to take your life unless you pushed me to do so. I’m not some rabid dog like jayden cross out for blood.”[break][break]

His right arm surges with electricity as he raises it, forming a clenched fist with his hand that spawns a LIGHTNING BOLT between it. ”It’s not up to me to judge you,” Yet. The IDEAL WORLD needed to be attained first. ”But bringing you in alive to face that final judgement? I can do that.”[break][break]

His Aerodactyl's jaws clamped together, and her Dragalge flicked a whip-like tail in disdainful reply.[break][break]

"How quickly you disavow yourself of your part in that plague. Make no mistake: It is guilt that drives you, Your Highness, and no act you take now can erase the sins you've already committed."[break][break]

It explained the insufferable levels of bravado he shielded himself in, hiding away from the shameful reality that he was no better than her. She knew that truth, whether or not he would acknowledge it.[break][break]

What right had he, or anyone else, to judge her?[break][break]

"You had all the privilege in the world, Calcifet. The throne of Galar. The ear of its populace and Hoenn's alike. An education thousands would envy. The patronage of a being of Ideals. And you threw it aside for what, exactly?"[break][break]

Lightning coalesced in his fist, and she smiled, exhaling out a sigh that dissolved into fluttering laughter. A sparkling pink mist began to perfume the air, swirling around her to form an expansive cloud of MISTY TERRAIN.[break][break]

He knew, on some level, that she was right. The realization was betrayed to her with a slight wince in his eyes. But he didn't expect Elisabeth Fiorelli to understand him or his motives either. Nor the true grit of his determination. The original ADMIN FOX had committed a great number of sins, yes, but he'd never been a full-fledged terrorist as she was.[break][break]

"Privilege should be earned. And, nothing, neither TEAM ROCKET nor the station I was born into, can keep me from the path I've chosen for myself." He answers, surging more power into his bolt with a tightening grip as his glowing blue eyes glare at her past the pink mist.[break][break]

Its cool touch on his skin was vaguely familiar thanks to illeana reyes and the countless times she had graced him with it. But this mist felt notably different. Oppressive. Stifling. Malevolent. It certainly wasn't here to heal him.[break][break]

"The only thing I've thrown away is the falsehoods of the ones who keep you chained," The AVATAR continues, pointing his bolt in her direction. Feeling an attack coming on, his Aerodactyl charges a HYPER BEAM in its open maw. And, though the abilities of her mist were unknown to him, and cast great suspicion, the GREAT TUSK below began forming into one terrifying herd with every passing second.[break][break]

This needed to end now.[break][break]

"And my patience for you understanding that has grown thin! HYPER BEAM!"

"Empty threats, emptier words," she taunted, watching as the HYPER BEAM soared towards her Dragalge. Shimmering motes of pink mist clung to its form like scales, strengthening it against the incoming attack.[break][break]

When it struck, Elisabeth held her arms in front of herself, her Pokemon's DRAGON PULSE blunting the blow only partially. Pain lanced through her exposed skin, and she let out a cry despite herself.[break][break]

"You'll regret that," she promised him.[break][break]

Nature was a vengeful creature, and those who struck her chosen would pay the price.[break][break]

The MISTY TERRAIN rippled in answer to the glaring HYPER BEAM, like a dawn-cast sea disturbed by lightning. Surging waves of pink swarmed towards Remiel Calcifet with CURSED intent, suffocating the prince in a roseate haze.[break][break]

"The stampede below is a greater threat to your people than I am at present," she reminded him, wincing slightly as she adjusted herself on her draconic steed. "How much time do you plan to waste on your royal theatrics, before you put your mountains of pride aside?"[break][break]

On the battlefield of the SILENT ICELANDS, the Galarian might have taken a chance like this to strike her down with the LIGHTNING BOLT he'd formed in his hand. It would have been easy to mask it within the HYPER BEAM that had clashed with her Dragalge's DRAGON PULSE. And, perhaps, it would have struck her unconscious.[break][break]

Instead, he'd taken that moment to cast it elsewhere.

"You may be right," The EX-ADMIN snorts as the haze clears from the airspace between them. "I might regret not taking you down sooner. But don't fool yourself into thinking I don't have my priorities straight."[break][break]

Below, an ELECTRICAL FIELD spawns in the valley passageway leading to the caves. There his LIGHTNING BOLT stands, embedded within the ground and acting as a shocking deterrent to the GREAT TUSK that dared approach. Eventually, this would convince the great stampede to change course entirely.[break][break]

"Where does this end for you, widow? How many times must we—"[break][break]

Suddenly, his breath seems lodged in his throat.

Othniel, too, feels a malevolent force attempt to cripple him and shrieks in response. His master holds on tightly to the reins with a single hand to try and steady the Aerodactyl while the other reaches up to his throat. And, just as quickly as it had come, the affliction disappears, allowing him to catch a desperate breath of air again... for now.[break][break]

As a Ghost-type sub-specialist, he was familiar with CURSES.[break][break]

"You witch," He glares. "Is this TAPU FINI's power?"

Nearby, he spots a GIMMIGHOUL CHEST abandoned amidst the rubble left behind by the GREAT TUSK stampede. Though now was certainly not the time to inspect it, he makes a note to come back later.[break][break]

Witch? Cackling amusement escaped from her, unintentionally painting the image he'd given of her with its manic laughter. The absurdity of it all entertained her, despite everything. Did anyone ever call Tapu Fini's last Avatar such things? Oh, she very much doubted it.[break][break]

"The earth remembers those who strike her," she replied as the laughter fled her, leveling him with a sobering look. "When you struck me, Tapu Fini merely returned that same unkindness back to you. You damned yourself."[break][break]

Below them, the ELECTRIC TERRAIN sparked and sizzled as lightning bolts served as makeshift prods to keep the herd of wild Paradox Pokemon in check. Despite herself, she was mildly impressed by the tactic. Whatever courses the prince had undoubtedly endured in warfare had paid off, it seemed.[break][break]

Shame his skill in diplomacy remained so lacking.[break][break]

"This may shock you, Calcifet, but I am a rather busy woman and you are a waste of my valuable time. If you desire to oversee this rampaging group of wild Pokemon by yourself, then by all means," she shrugged easily, unbothered, "you're welcome to them. There are plenty more in this chasm that aren't being shepherded by a self-righteous prick."[break][break]

As far as Elisabeth was concerned, she wasn't above calling him names, either.[break][break]

The CURSE was bound to strike again soon, so attempting to subdue Elisabeth Fiorelli in this state was unwise. But Remiel certainly did not trust the UNDERBOSS with complete autonomy over the herd of GREAT TUSK. Where others might see his refusal to retreat as prideful, he only saw this as a dedication to his cause.[break][break]

Then again: she was right.[break][break]

There were plenty of others within AREA ZERO.

With the majority of the herd already having done a complete U-turn, only stragglers remained. There was only one surefire way to ensure they weren't guided back to this exit when his back was turned, however. A last resort he'd wanted to avoid to secure another route for the LEAGUE.[break][break]

So, with little more than a parting glare at the blonde across from him, Remiel flies his Aerodactyl down and lands it just behind the ELECTRICAL FIELD. With a SUPERSONIC roar, it clears the last of the GREAT TUSK from the area before turning around and HYPER BEAMING the entrance, sealing it with a cacophonous cave-in.[break][break]

When the dust clears, Elisabeth Fiorelli will find the prince glaring up at her again. "Go spend your time elsewhere, then, you pompous harpy. You have less of it than you know."[break][break]

Meanwhile, just nearby, an ominous RIFT to the DISTORTION WORLD tears open briefly. Remiel spares a glance at this phenomenon before it disappears, and endures the sense of complete dread that overcomes him then and there.[break][break]
