Josh's hair stood on end as vibration reflected from the ground back into King Zing's body during the split second the Beedrill leaped into the air. The droning noise was loud, but not nearly as loud as he remembered it being. "Whew!" he exhaled; how did Shalin do this? The shaking would take quite a bit of getting used to.

It felt good to be able to control the Pokémon that had once been his demon, the source of his anguish and fear for the past year. While it may have felt like it at times, the Pokémon's rehabilitation and Josh conquering this fear was not a direct result of him becoming Champion. The title of Champion was a sign that he overcame those hurdles.

Now, he reaped the rewards, bobbing and buzzing through the rural forest road. After lifting his visor, Josh squeezed the Beedrill's sides, the wasp picking up the pace a little bit and letting his rider enjoy the wind in his face. It would be one of his last times doing so before he found himself a prisoner once again, this time in the more literal sense.

route 101 was peaceful, and with the weather warming up, elodie wasn't about to pass the opportunity for a walk up. even then, unfortunately, it had taken the better part of the day. she had even woken up early, dealt with a train ride before dawn even really broke, all for it to be further in the morning than she had expected.

at this rate, she'd have to either deal with being late getting back or finding a place to stay. she tried not to worry about that too much, though- she had money, she had locked up, and she had her pokemon with her.

the trek through the forest had been surprisingly quiet- she supposed it shouldn't bee, given how small littleroot town was, but she had still been expecting someone else to be taking advantage of the weather, too. even the pokemon seemed surprisingly quiet as she made her way to what seemed like it would have been a good picnic spot.

it's only when she hears the buzzing, rapidly approaching, that she realizes why the pokemon have been quiet. she knows about bug type pokemon, from her experience in the tournament when she first arrived, and this sounds exactly like one. and, as it darts right by her, it looks like one too.

"woah!" blinking against the suddenness of it, she peers after the bug pokemon. and then, before she can stop herself, she squints. and then she calls out to the form on the back. "hey, don't i know you from somewhere?"

As Josh and King Zing approached Elodie, he clearly saw her calling out to him. Sitting so close to a great Beedrill's buzzing wings made it difficult to hear. He passed above her with an upward trajectory to make it obvious that the yellow insect wouldn't sting her. With a sudden swerve that made even Josh whoop, the nimble bug-type reversed course and landed, relaxing his wings.

It took some time for feeling to return to Josh's limbs, not used to flying on a creature whose entire body shook. "I'm sorry, come again?" he asked, removing his ear protection. Were Elodie to repeat herself, Josh would recognize the voice. "Oh, Elodie! From the tournament! Wasn't expecting to run into you out here."

the bug pokemon flies over her head, and elodie, despite everything telling her it was fine, can't help but relax. it's not the same pokemon, exactly, as far as she can tell, but the reminder of what it could do is still fresh in her memory. she'd rather not be on the recieving end of that!

she's only met josh once before, but the fact that he remembers her- and doesn't seem too bothered by the interruption- is a relief in and of itself. she still kind of feels bad for some of the things that happened in other matches, so having at least one person with no hard feelings is nice.

"that's me!" she raises a hand in a wave. "i actually thought i'd come out for a picnic. enjoy the weather, you know? i'm surprised there's not more people-"

anything else she starts to say is cut off by a herdier trotting from the undergrowth and straight to her, tail wagging slowly. her first instinct is to backtrack and acknowledge that there is someone out there beyond the two of them, but when they don't come after the dog pokemon, she gives it a second glance.

it's fur is tangled and messy, and it looks surprisingly thin, but it's friendly. frowning, she glances back up at josh, hand lingering on a spare pokeball just in case.

A picnic sounded relaxing. "You have room for one more?" he asked, his body still thrumming from the wingbeats that had ceased not long ago. The vibration was a lot tougher on his body than he thought it would be. Riding this wasp would require special training, but it would be worth his while. He remembered how terrifying the creature was to Eris. To be able to harness that power and make sure it was appropriately used would be a great boon, able to strike fear into Rockets that opposed him.

After all, a high dose of Beedrill venom was a miserable way to go.

The Herdier came out of its hiding spot only from a Serperior slithering away from it -- and quite the large one at that. Had a Space-Time Distortion appeared recently? While the slithering back and forth would take a lot of getting used to, Josh never having been astride a giant snake Pokémon before, he wasn't going to let this one get away. He slid off his Pokémon and let him get to work.

The terrifying, deafening buzz of King Zing's wings might make those nearby shiver in fear, the saddled Beedrill pointing both his foreleg stings toward the grass-type in an effort to pin it down with small but sturdy PIN MISSILES. Showing great strength and resilence, the wild loudly rattled its leafy tail to free itself from the insect's attack, leaping toward King Zing with great speed and bringing the wasp to the ground in a WRAPPING attack. He furiously buzzed to try to shake free, Josh's head thumping from the grating noise. With his oversized bug in danger of collapsing, he hurled an empty Poké Ball toward the grass-type.
