Reds, blues, greens - beneath the soot and ash of fallen empires of thought, there was little meaning left behind for much else outside of work. Like an ekans shedding its skin, since assuming the title of councilwoman, Penelope's dwindled time discarded room for hobbies. All, except for one.

Perched on an old wooden stool, her back facing the glowing sun, Penelope's brush made its way with the canvas, etching lofty buildings entrapped by rusted metal and billows of smoke, and dots of galarian colors acting as whispers of clues to be considered. The more she worked on the piece, the more it evolved, mirroring shattered memories of a forgotten dream better left unvisited.

The tranquility of the small park gave just enough respite for the councilwoman to feel comfortable.

"The paint's bleeding through."

It's a captivating scene, that the woman in front of them has managed to cobble together— transporting herself somewhere else, somewhere different, a gloomy sight that certainly didn't feel fitting of the sun beating down upon their backs.

People tend to paint what they see, what they know, or what they'd like. This, as far as Cato can tell from leaning over the stranger's shoulder, is hardly a park; there's a comfortable solitude to the way that this woman paints, that if they cared to stare a little more closely, would've felt a bit personal.

"Really, are you an amateur? This is the type of thing you're supposed to learn before you paint," he chirps, continuing to stop and stare from behind her, feet planted firmly into the ground.

Thankfully— or unfortunately, following the bitterness of their tone— for the stranger, Cato doesn't appear the least bit interested in her personal affairs, nor what she's painting. With narrowed eyes and a sharpened tongue, it's her technique that brings a wrinkle to his nose, an offense so deeply taken that they couldn't have simply passed her by.

If you're going to tout yourself as an artist in public, you could bother to remember the basics.

"Brushstroke's too harsh. Paint's too heavy. The colors'll melt together, obviously."

Just one shadow, one slip of a unfamiliar man evading her personal bubble and her brush was sent skittering off the canvas, leaving behind a long streak of black. It was ruined. All of her work, with one misplaced stroke, had been reduced to nothing.

"I don't remember asking for advice," she started, her voice pulsing with annoyance, an overrunned funnel nearing the brim. Her head turned, but only enough to catcha glimpse of half his face."Especially from some lowlife artist who's just trying to feed their massive ego."
