In preparation for the upcoming war, you and your team have been entrusted with the crucial task of fortifying Rocket’s defense—a complex network of tera tunnels interwoven with bunkers seized from Project Lockbox during Meteno. You must fortify the walls using steel beams and metals provided by Rocket’s own blacksmith, Aurelie Lefevre; or instead choose to install security cameras in the walls as determined by Rocket's intel team and Admin Bee (BARNABY FINCH). “Pass me some more wires, Rookie.” The dog’s shirt is off, a rare enough thing. Though they are underground, fire tera crystals make the place feel warm, like they are held against hell’s own bosom.[break][break]
A shirtless dog provides his partner with a curious sight. Upon his back is tattooed a massive, intricate, beautifully colored rendition of Entei in a traditional Johtonian style. Such tattoos are common among Johto’s Yakuza, though his choice is far less popular than others. Many favor the soaring Gyarados atop the waterfall, or even the Magikarp. Many favor Sneasel, a symbol of demonic cunning, or Lugia to guard their way.[break][break]
Though it is a god, Entei is not a popular choice. All the same, it proudly adorns the dog’s back while he hooks wires together. His good service for the day is to create a network of security cameras throughout their tera tunnels.[break][break]

It was a pretty nice Entei, admittedly. Drawn in a style that Johto had perfected over centuries before the region had been bathed in fire and blood following Rocket's crossing of the Indigo Plateau. It wasn't a perfect depiction of the fiery beast, but few had seen the dog before Kyle Lopez's ascent.

It hadn't helped that Rocket had killed Johto's guardians and defiled their holy sites on the march eastward.

"Agreed, but everyone is going through these. Respect policy." Howard was here observing the Black Dog in action, but the admin agreed that it was a waste of time. It was better that the admin rest rather than verify the integrity of one of Rocket's better agents, but whatever. "Do a crossword or something."

Hell would freeze over before Hitoshi did a crossword, but Howard had frozen it a month back.

“Makes ya hang out with him fer a week. Talks to ya. Gets to know ya. Then he puts the ink on ya.” A wistful smile crosses the dog’s face. “Funny. Whenever Yumi n’ me’d go to shrines, back in Goldenrod, on New Years, I’d always say my prayer to Entei.”

Admin Fox was likely slaying Arceus with his left hand and taking a piss with his right, rising the dead kings of old to kneel before him while swearing fealty to the royal crown of Galar.

God, Remiel was such a prick. Whenever Hitoshi mentioned Admin Fox, he wanted to wring the grunt's neck. Unfortunately, the swordsman's highly muscled back made Howard suspect that Hitoshi could snap him like a twig with one arm tied behind his back. Alas.

"Seems like it'd defeat the point. Being turned into someone else's easel like that..." The cog said to the mercenary. As if either of them knew what direction they were going, besides a League tribunal. "At least it's a good piece of ink. Excellent work."

He was surprised that Johto's tattoo industry had survived.

"It doesn't bother you? Knowing we killed its brothers in Johto? How can you pray to something that humanity dragged down and killed like a dog?"

If they don’t fix this quick, their goose is cooked. The dog has seen what mint frost and the other beasts get like when they’re displeased – he had very nearly gotten on the receiving end of Neon’s wrath last year, when he tried sending the beast a message without properly translating it first.[break][break]
“Entei’s a passionate guy. I’m a passionate guy. Ya dig? Just cause a hundred humans ganged up on his bros and killed ‘em doesn’t make ‘em less special. Hell, how many guys would it take to kill you, Rookie? Probably not a hundred. Sounds pretty godly t’me.”[break][break]
He doesn’t know it was a hundred men, having not been there himself, but it’s a nice enough fable. Better a hundred men tore down two gods than some Snorunt got lucky when they chucked an icicle. The dog says a quiet prayer, twists a piece of metal into place…[break][break]
And their machine whirrs to life once more.[break][break]

If a hundred men born and buried in the geological blink of an eye could bring down a sliver of a god, then was it really a god at all? There were stories of Ho-Oh bringing back its vassals from the brink, and Hoenn's former Top Champion had heeled those vassals for himself.

Yet he was gone and dead, and his beasts had not broken their collars to bring the modern world to heel once more.

"A bomb can kill a hundred people. Maybe it's stronger than Entei." Hitoshi hammers away at the broken tech. The admin lets him, because he doesn't know how it works himself. "Maybe we surpassed creatures of legend long ago."

Some. Not all. He made little comment of Regice's scuffle in Dewford. It had taken nine people to bring it down, and two of them were avatars.

After a moment of indecision, you decide to attempt the repair yourself. It can't be that hard, right? [break][break]

Turns out, it's not. Replacing the broken part with a smaller piece of metal and adjusting a few wires restores everything to working order. What a relief! [break][break]
